"Sykes Cottages rate this lodge as a 3*, we think that is probably fair."
We've stayed in lots of nice lodges and this lodge shows some signs of wear and tear. Nothing fancy, no throws on beds or furniture, no welcome pack other than dishwasher tablets, bin bag and kitchen sponge- useful. Some salt and pepper in a cupboard. But, we did find it a clean lodge, spacious and generally comfortable. Perhaps the carpet could do with a deep clean to freshen it, not because of odour but to revamp it a bit and remove a few stains. The dining table is a little wobbly and marked but husband and adult son successfully managed a few pool matches. Kitchen is well equipped. The boiler was faulty and (via Reception) the owner had a plumber visit - on a Sunday! I'd already tried unsuccessfully to contact Sykes by email the night before our holiday having seen a review mentioning the boiler problems. Sadly a part was required and that was the last we heard and never heard from Sykes at all- had to keep tweaking the pressure for hot water. Fortunately the weather was very good so limited reasons for heat and there is an electric fire in the living room. We also had a 3 hour power failure to the whole site- but that's no ones fault really. Initially thinking "is it just us?' Bit of recorded info on the site phone line to say things were in hand, might have helped tho' - not the owners fault. Got some info from word of mouth from immediate neighbours saying it has happened before for a short time and then later from other site occupants when we went down to the car park by the locked reception/bar building were there were a few residents looking for answers. Altho' no one really knew what was happening other than it was a local problem and 'in hand'. Emergency onsite contact number was incorrect in the lodges info file- now corrected. Eventually an online search gave us hopeful time frame for repairs. Decked area at the front of the lodge is a lovely sun trap- decking recently cleaned we thought.

"Very basic, no frills accomodation."
As clean as it could be, but strong smell of pets ingrained in the carpet. Carpet could do with a good shampoo. Intermittently working boiler, kept on having to raise pressure manually, this made it incredibly cool in the morning as the thermostat hadn't been able to get to temperature. Least not forgetting no free access to hot water, unless the boiler was repressurised. Lost WiFi on the second day, much to the annoyance of the teens in our group, was rebooted after 2 days, but then incredibly slow - to the point where the TV was buffering. Kitchen well supplied to cook basic meals, teapot but no cafetiere. There's no list of items available on the booking description, so it's difficult to know what your getting. Advertised pool table but it was too rickety to even bother. As mentioned, basic accommodation - no hand soap or toilet rolls available. Only 1 bin bag and 2 dishwasher tabs provided, which is fine of course for a self catering, just reminding others to bring their own.

"Lovely area, the accommodation was beautiful well above expectations."
Close to all areas of interest and places to visit. I'd highly recommend a visit.

"Feedback for 67 Gressingham, Warton (11-18 October 2025) I recently stayed at this property and would like to provide some constructive feedback regarding my experience."
Upon arrival, my initial impression was that the lodge appeared to be in reasonable condition externally, although the wooden decking was faded and could benefit from repainting. Additionally, I noticed that the outdoor key combination box was left with the password openly accessible, which raises security concerns. Inside the lodge, the first thing I encountered was a strong, stale odor. Upon inspecting the rooms, I found no food items, but the smell persisted until I reached the living room and kitchen area. There, I discovered the rubbish bin containing rotting food and significant mold growth, including hairy, white, and grey mold, which appeared to have been left for some time. This was highly unpleasant and caused a strong stench, which was distressing and affected my well-being. Further issues included stains on the floors and walls throughout the lodge, as well as a tea stain on the right arm of the three-seater leather sofa. The furniture and surfaces appeared unclean and needed thorough cleaning. The table was unstable, and the pool table was covered with food and drink stains. Additional maintenance concerns included a constantly leaking shower that produced a dripping noise, which disrupted sleep. The bed was uncomfortable—lumpy with protruding springs—and the bedding showed signs of previous use, with stains on sheets and pillows. The quilt cover was worn and thin, offering little warmth, which necessitated keeping the heating on throughout the night. The property appeared to have had little recent maintenance or care. I observed masking tape hanging from the bedroom ceiling, likely from previous wall repairs, and all walls exhibited marks, cracks, and stains. Dust accumulated on top of furniture and fixtures, which was particularly problematic for my asthma. Overall, I found the lodge to be in poor condition, poorly maintained, and not suitable for a comfortable stay. The location was also less than ideal, being very close to the M6 motorway, resulting in considerable noise. The issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and security would need addressing to improve the overall quality and safety of the property. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this lodge to others based on my experience. I hope this feedback is helpful for future improvements.

"Lovely lodge with comfy three piece leather suite, one armchair reclining, good size smart tv,didn`t try the pool table as it was abit wobbly."
Kitchen was a decent size but host needs to check inventory, only three forks !.Bedrooms both good but shower, while being very good while being used ,leaks badly.Location is great, nice and quiet with light site traffic.Need to emphasise that nothing is supplied in the way of soap in bathrooms, washing up etc.I would recommend this lodge highly.

"Whilst the cottage was comfortable, it needs some serious TLC The owner needs fix the front door lock, it was SO difficult to turn the key."
The fan in bathroom doesn't work. Weeds growing through patio decking ! Wall clock didn't work (needs battery !) The hoover was unsafe to use, we have already mentioned this to Sykes !
-
"We mentioned several times at the reception that we could not lock the frontdoor, we left every day the location via the deck in stead of the normal door, the cottage was good and spacefull but the kitchen was very basic equipped, the table needs maintenance, very wobbly and scratched."
What negative was; the M6 almost via the backgarden, traffic noise was annoying but indoor no nice. Overall; so so

"Our family (2 adults, 2 children 13+16 and Charlie the bichon frise,) are just back from staying at 67 Gressingham for the week and we loved it!"
The property was large, clean and provided us with all we needed for our stay. Plenty of storage in the bedrooms. The washing machine, utility room and pool table were added bonuses plus the decking provided us with somewhere to sit during the evening in the sun. The surrounding area was quiet and the site/lake provided us with lovely walks to enjoy the sunshine. We were very lucky with the weather which made the holiday even more enjoyable. We would definitely look at staying here again as it was all we needed and gave us access to many places to visit around the local area and further into the lake district. The only improvement for us would be to have a shower fitted over the bath in the main bathroom.

"What a lovely week I had ."
Will definitely be back. Accommodation just can't be faulted spotlessly clean and everything I needed so cosy what more can I say beautiful.

"Lodge was very big and had lots of facilities to enhance the stay, such as large fridge freezer and washing machine."
Entrance hall makes a great storage for your costs and shoes and other bits without it spilling into the lodge. TV, electric fire and the heating system meant we enjoyed the cold frosty night in the living room. The dining table becoming games table was also a great addition for some fun and a game of pool with my sun. The negative though came from the bed. The mattress was not comfortable to sleep on, woke up several times during the night. Had to sleep in the single bed which still wasn’t very comfortable but meant didn’t disturb my partner

"Had an amazing week here in October 2024 with our 2 dogs."
The lodge was immaculate and surprisingly easy to find using the map provided. Very scenic & an ideal place to walk our pooches. Lots of places to visit nearby too. The on site resteraunt was lovely. We were even treated to a showing of the northern lights during our visit. Our only issue was the WIFI - I'm sure I received an email with the password but couldn't find it & the only form of contact was an emergencies only number. The dining/pool/ping pong table (although a bit wobbly) was a brilliant way to pass the time on a rainy day. I have already passed the lodge information on to a couple of friends who are considering booking.

"No mirror in bedrooms for doing hair."
Keysafe faulty, decking very slippery when wet. A lot of traffic noise from behind lodge, but got use to. Adequate facilities and clean.

"Really nice property!"
We booked this for the games table and it was an ideal asset to have for family fun. The property was tidy, as described in the photos with plenty of additionally tools you might need (torches, blankets etc etc) Area was nice as well, not a huge amount of amenities on site but a lot of amenities close by and places to visit. Very good if you are bringing a dog also. Only small recommendation would be to include a welcome pack. we had expected even just a couple of coffee sachets and tea bags for when we arrived, would have been a nice touch.

"1st class throughout"
-
"We were very upset that the oven was filthy and hadn't been cleaned for a very long time."
The swing bin was filthy also. The toilet seat needs maintenance and the heating problem was annoying.
-
"Restaurant had decided not to serve food on Sunday evening and closed the bar at 5pm."
refuse bins had been moved to a mucky yard with mostly overfilled bins. the toilet seats in the lodge were both loose, no welcome pack, even the cruet was empty. the biggest problem was my 2 year old granddaughter finding a box of assorted tablets including heart tablets and pain killers down the side of the sofa, that could have been very nasty! i,ve sent you these comments before, This is not up to your usual standard.

"Only slight quibble would be that a shower in the main bathroom would be great"
-
"A fantastic cabin superbly equiped,we had a minor issue on arrival that was sorted out instantly with one phone call."
The cabin was excellent with everything in it that a michelin star chef would have been happy to use. The owner supplied games and even a pool table and excellent wifi. I cant recomend highly enough.

"Beautiful lodge with south facing decking, dish washer with dish washer tablets provided, washer/dryer, iron and ironing board."
2 bathrooms were a bonus, ample kitchen space, recliner leather chair, excellent wifi. The mattress on the double bed was so comfortable. It has an onsite bar and restaurant overlooking the lake with a small beach for the kids. 10 minutes drive to Morcambe bay and the little park. Carnforth 5 minutes drive to Aldi or Tesco. The railway is a must to see the museum where brief encounter was filmed. Lots of shops in Morcambe with a nice indoor market (the lamb and mint pies are the best pies we've had). Only 23 minutes to the Lakes district, (we especially love Ambleside). The farm shop a mile away is worth the visit, lots to do for the kids and lovely food in the cafe. We will definitely be returning, it felt like home, thank you for letting us stay, we thoroughly enjoyed it ☺
-
"Inside the property is nicely decorated and furnished, outside it’s looking a little tired, needs a good jet wash and painting, also it would be nice to have bins for recycling and general waste, solar lights need replacing too, lakeside is a beautiful place to stay, and so many places to visit within a 45 minutes drive."
-
"Nice quiet location, and the holiday home was as described - very comfortable and great WiFi."
Would definitely return if on holiday in the area again.
-
"The lodge is lovely, very modern and in a great position."
Great furniture and facilities. A few things that could be improved: no light bulb in the lamp in the lounge and neither lamps in the main bedroom worked. A mirror in each of the bedrooms would've been a bonus. The bed in the main bedroom is VERY firm, could benefit from a mattress topper. WiFi service was intermittent and didn't work the first night. Would be great to see the decking restained and some outdoor dining furniture so you could eat outdoors.
-
"A nice property looking a bit tired in places but a comfortable stay, had problems locking the door as the door had dropped slightly so used the patio doors for the rest of the holiday."
The other problem was no Wi-Fi , there was private Wi-Fi but the owners didn’t share the password which was unfortunate
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. After contacting me directly shortly after you arrived regarding the door lock I find it disappointing that you didn’t accept the offer of further assistance and instead have chosen to endure the issue and include it in your comments. The Wi-Fi code is available for guests, the password is on the router, however, I appreciate that this may not be obvious so I will endeavour to update the welcome folder to include it. "Lovely comfortable, clean lodge and very relaxing."
The games table was a bonus. The park itself was clean and lovely to walk around with our dog. Friendly staff at the restaurant/bar. The only issue we had was not enough cookware for the microwave.
Dear Mrs J (surname omitted for privacy) Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback. I appreciate you highlighting the microwave cookware shortage, it’s not something I had previously considered. I will be adding suitable containers to the kitchen equipment at the first opportunity. "The lodge was very clean and fresh and all furnishings were comfortable and in very good condition."
The rooms were very spacious and the kitchen was lovely with plenty of crockery and utensils. The utility room is a bonus for dog owners, ours slept in there and it was a great space to keep dog paraphernalia. The park is very well kept. We used the swimming pool and again it was very clean. It is quite small and got busy in the adults only morning session. No changing rooms just shower cubicles and toilets. The restaurant opening times were very random so I advise to check with restaurant and book because opening times varied from day to day. Service not great but food was delicious. There is no TV in the twin room contrary to the advert at time when I booked. Good WiFi. We enjoyed our stay and would book the exact same lodge again.
Dear Mrs D, (surname omitted for privacy) thank you so much for taking the time to write such a constructive review. I must apologise, that, contrary to the listing when you booked there was no television provided in the twin bedroom. This was an error in the original listing and an oversight on my part that it was not corrected. I hope that it didn’t have a significant impact on your stay. With regards to the on-site restaurant, I am aware of all the issues you have raised. As an owner I have clearly communicated the same complaints to the park management. I will be addressing the issue again and your comments will be passed on. I have endeavoured to provide current information about restaurant opening and bookings within the welcome folder and I will continue to communicate with the park management to improve this facility.
