  • "Sunset Lodge is beautiful and spacious."

    Although it's on a site it is very quiet and private. The furnishings, bed, sofas etc, were very comfortable. There is a lovely verandah with furniture supplied to take advantage of the views to the lake. Unfortunately because of the adverse weather we couldn't take advantage of this! But, the large patio doors enable you to view from the cosy, comfy living area. Plenty of places within reach of the site. With Carnforth nearby, there are shops, supermarkets and of course the famous railway station. Despite the wet weather we had a great time, lots of board games are provided, a large smart tv, with 2 others in the lovely bedrooms! You won't be disappointed if you book this superb lodge!

  • "We have had a great stay at the Sunset Retreat."

    Everything we could possibly need was provided. Very clean and tastefully decorated lodge. Owner was very responsive and helpful. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend it to anyone who would like to visit the Lakes as it was in easy to reach distance to the lodge.

  • "A beautiful, warm, cosy & clean cabin with a lovely lake & leisure faciity on site."

    We stayed here when the weather wasn't great but there was plenty to do with a heated pool at the leisure facility, a bar & restaurant on site. The cabin was well stocked with board games and books, highlighting 'must see' places which helped us to plan our daily adventures. We really enjoyed our stay, the cabin felt safe and the site very secure, with excellent clear communication from the owners making everything run smoothly. Would highly recommend and will most definately book again. Thank you.

  • "Fantastic property with absolutely everything you could need to self-cater and lovely dark bedrooms."

    Use of the BBQ was a lovely extra touch, as were the books and games and snacks on arrival. A home away from home! We loved our stay. Having read other reviews I was slightly concerned about the din of road noise but it wasn’t enough to worry us and didn’t drown out the chirping of the grebes on the lake! A very welcoming and well considered property.

  • "We spent a lovely weekend with our grandchildren at Sunset Retreat ."

    It was very clean and comfortable also a welcome basket which was a nice touch. We used the board games that were supplied by the owners and we used the on site restaurant, also used the on site pool(a bit pricey at £25 for one hour) we would definitely come back

  • "We are very impressed with the property it’s by far the best chalet we’ve stayed in."

    It’s very well appointed and very owner has provided everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and everything is great quality. We will definitely be returning here. The property

Sunset Retreat is a detached ground floor lodge situated in the South Lakeland Leisure Village just two miles from Carnforth.

This cosy lodge offers lovely views across the lake, offering a bright and spacious, warm welcome at any time of the year.

The lodge features open plan living with a stylish modern kitchen, dining area and sitting area with patio doors leading out to a spacious decked area, ideal for sitting out and watching the local wildlife and enjoying the stunning views across the lake at sunset with a glass of wine.

The double bedroom has an en-suite shower-room, and there is an additional twin bedroom and a main bathroom.

The superb on-site facilities include a spa, indoor swimming pool, Waters Edge restaurant and bar, providing an abundance of ways to relax and unwind on a well-earned break.

A short drive from the South Lakeland Leisure Village, the coast is recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with the scenic Jenny Browns Point with stunning views across Morecambe Bay and RSPB Leighton Moss Reserve being a short drive away.

Head along the canal path into Carnforth, a quaint town brimming with a selection of eateries, pubs and independent shops, as well as the Capernwray Diving Centre and harbour.

During your stay, be sure to visit the countless landmarks of the attractions contained within the brilliant Arnside & Silverdale AONB, whilst a trip to the nearby Forest of Bowland AONB and the Yorkshire Dales National Park are also must-do's, both regions boasting awe-inspiring landscapes that will take your breath away.

CARNFORTH

Capernwray 2.4 miles; Lake District National Park 11.6 miles.

Located just off the M6 and 20 miles south of the scenic Lake District, Carnforth is the sort of place that everyone has heard of, and many desire to discover this hidden gem. Situated at the north end of Morecambe Bay, north of the historic town of Lancaster, 15 miles from the winding lanes of the Yorkshire Dales and a hop and a skip from the Lake District, it is close to absolutely everywhere! Other local attractions include Greenlands Farm Village for crafts, local produce, a play area, café, and a garden centre. The lovely area just north of Carnforth has tidal sands bordering the huge expanse of Morecambe Bay. It offers plenty of pleasant walks and opportunities to see local birds and wildlife in this fabulous area of Lancashire. Don't forget to visit the lovely old market town of Kirkby Lonsdale where you can walk or cycle along the Lancaster to Kendal Canal nearby.
