The accommodation was warm and cosy with everything you could possibly need for a fantastic stay. The area was very quiet and a lovely safe area for walking our dog. Our only regret is that we didn't discover it sooner. Thanks Kath for making us so very welcome.

"We were very disappointed with Brayton Retreat."
Having booked it on the strength of the photos and reviews. The cleanliness overall was poor, especially in the bathroom. The lounge needed updating the carpet had numerous stains. The decking area was a complete shambles, there was bird droppings everywhere .The table was unusable nothing like the photos, don't think we will be returning.
-
"The owner Kath was a great host, reliable and welcoming."
A clean and comfortable annex. The garden was the highlight of stay, with fine weather, it was peaceful to relax and dine outside. I took my dog and she was relaxed there. I would visit again, lots of places to visit if you have a car.
-

"Brayton Retreat is in a lovely quiet area just outside Selby."
The annexe is very nice & has everything you might need for your stay,it is very well equipped. There was a generous welcome pack for both us & our little dog-the best we've had in our many cottage breaks! We found the mattresses were too soft & the sofa was very low-this is obviously our personal choice & in no way a complaint. We really feel that we recharged our batteries in this very peaceful area which is exactly what we needed! Many thanks to Kath.
-
"Really beautiful place, cottage amazing and lots of treats and things in the cupboards to keep me going."
Didn’t meet the owner as it wasn’t warm enough to sit out on patio to meet. Although had contact via text, talking about different things. Will definitely book again.

"Loved it. A real home from home in a beautiful village."
Owner left tons of information on local area as well as treats for the humans and the dog. Was able to sit out in the evening with a glass of vino in the enclosed private garden. Would recommend without hesitation.

"Thank you Kath for a lovely stay - and for the goody boxes on arrival!"
A very cosy property and the facilities for dogs were excellent. It was great to get to know Selby a bit better over the last month too.
-
"Great stay ,comfortable in a nice area owner was helpful &generously left a welcome basket for us!"
-
"We really appreciated the clean and spacious Brayton Retreat."
It provided an excellent base for our short visit to the UK for family matters. A very comfortable stay. Well recommended. Thank you so much Kath for a warm welcome.
-
"Comfortable, independent annexe to owner's house."
Nice walks nearby for our dog along the pretty canal path. Handy for shops, restaurants, takeaways, the Abbey and park. Kath was very considerate, welcoming and helpful.
-
"Kath has provided everything guests need from bathrobes and slippers to cleaning materials, toiletries and lots of tea towels, hangers, drawer space and kitchen equipment."
A welcome basket of goodies - bread, biscuits, sweets, wine and milk and butter in the fridge and a warm welcome from Kath herself. The area is good for walking and cycling, there are numerous pubs, restaurants and supermarkets nearby, and the coast, York and designer shopping outlets are a longer drive away. We had a very comfortable staycation here and would happily revisit.
-
"Lovely time."
Very convenient and well kept property. Owner so helpful with good recommendations for days out and fab info provided.
-
"Very quiet area, and plenty of food shops nearby."
-
"Brayton retreat was a lovely little find, in a very gorgeous area."
Kath was a lovely host and couldn’t have made us more welcome. We had a lovely time and felt like it was home from home and hope to return in the future.Â
-
"Nearby Selby and York both offer rewarding visiting experiences."
-
"Excellent annexe for a very comfortable stay."
Separate entrance and great facilities. Very comfortable and spacious rooms. Excellent food preparation area and facilities in the kitchen. Good sized fridge and cupboard space. All items for preparation, cooking and washing up provided with many extras. Lots of things to help without bringing everything with you. A relaxing experience for eating and being entertained with the use of the garden and patio area when it's fine. Good bathroom, only problem I have was getting temperature right in the shower, very delicate movements from cold to too hot, otherwise a brilliant retreat. The surrounding area is easily accessible with motorway access not too far away. BRILLIANT
-
"A very cosy and comfortable place to stay."
Brayton Retreat was spotlessly clean and well equipped and there was a more than generous welcome pack which was very much appreciated. The only thing we could suggest would be to increase the Wi-Fi speed. Overall highly recommended holiday accommodation.
-
"It was a lovely little getaway very good local walking and an excellent welcome pack made us feel very at home"
-
"Ideal location for us and loved the canal walks and the nearby individual shops provided us with home baking and good quality goods."
The information left within the house was excellent. The Welcome Pack was the best we had ever had so thoughtful even Rosie our dog was spoilt with her own goodies. The house was clean and cosy our only minor criticism would be the sofa which was not very comfy and a long way from the TV. The towels were first class and smelt wonderful all week. We were sorry we could not have stayed longer but appreciate your kindness and lovely to meet your Old English Sheepdog Alfie.
-
"Fantastic welcome pack, they even went gluten free after I told them I couldn’t eat the bread."
Everything you could possibly want was provided. Absolutely faultless
-
"Second visit to Brayton Retreat - just as good as last year."
Excellent accommodation with first class facilities. Many thanks to the owners for making retreat feel like home.
-
"Brayton Retreat is a lovely, warm, comfortable annex joined to the owners house."
It is set in a lovely little estate of detached houses, so is very peaceful. We immediately felt relaxed upon entering and the welcome boxes, ( for us and our dog ), went far beyond anything we have received at other holiday homes. The owners welcomed us and were on hand should we have needed them. Due to our visit being in December, we didn't make use of the garden, but it was very handy for letting our dog out early morning and late at night. The holiday flat is in an excellent position for visiting surrounding towns and we used the park and ride at the Designers Outlet to travel into central York. Dogs are allowed on the buses. Selby has nearly all the major supermarkets and there is a Tesco Express in Brayton. We would recommend Brayton Retreat to anyone wishing to visit the area.
-
"The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we could need."
Kath and Tony were very welcoming to us and our dog. The welcome basket was lovely to have and comprehensive.
-
"Our hosts had a lovely welcome pack ready and waiting for us."
There was everything in there apart from washing machine and they even offered to do our washing. We did find a laundrette up the road which we used. There was an ironing board and iron there along with hairdryer. These items were not listed on the details. We had use of their lovely garden which was very pleasant having morning coffee and a glass of wine on a evening.. We would definitely recommend this little oasis.
-
"Made very welcome by hosts but they were not intrusive."
Good location for surrounding area but not much to do in Brayton itself. Accommodation comfortable with everything one could need. Good quality towels and bed linen. Lovely shared garden. Good value.
-
"Although the weather was very wet we had a great time."
The accommodation was very good every thing was provided.
-
"Due to the proximity of main roads and motorways we were able to easily travel each day to local and far reaching sites and amenities, and as we were blessed with very good weather we enjoyed the local historical sites and nature."
If like us you are into history and nature this is the ideal holiday home.
-
"Lovely accommodation nice warm welcome and welcome pack."
Quiet peaceful holiday with lots of good dog walks
-
"I can't stress how impressed myself and my husband were."
5* and then some. Fantastic facilities everything we could want bar the kitchen sink. Incredibly clean, comfortable warm. A pretty garden with seating facilities and a table for drinks and food a coy carp pond. Great location to Selby and York with super road access. It was quiet and comfortable. Great hosts. Thankyou so very much. Mr&Mrs Young.
-
