"A lovely comfy cottage."
Great sleeps. So quiet & restful. Owners on site - friendly, helpful. We loved living in a field of sheep & lambs. Only drawback is the slight remoteness from shopping/ eating out, but we liked that up to a point.

"Had a great time, very welcoming, good central location for day trips, nice and relaxing."
-
"We had another peaceful and relaxing week at rose cottage."
Janet, John and Beta are fantastic hosts. Looking forward to next year.
-
"The property was lovely and very rural, just what we wanted."
It offered perfectly adequate facilities that met the description. Unfortunately, we had to return home on the day after our arrival due to a medical emergency, I'm only mentioning this as the property owner who lives on site went that extra mile to help us, both at the time and after.

"The entire holiday was just a total success!"
The lovely accommodation, warm welcome from the family and beautiful country- what more could you ask for?

"Love the place"

"Really lovely cottage in beautiful surrounding."
Owner of cottage was there to greet us on our arrival. She was a lovely lady very friendly and welcoming. Very enjoyable stay and would thoroughly recommend.
-
"Compact but comfortable cottage with a friendly welcome from not just the owner but from a dog and cats who will wander in if encouraged."
Peaceful rural location surrounded by sheep fields. Good wood, farm and moorland walks within easy driving distance, and a short stroll to a river from the cottage. Miles of purple moorland heather in August. Spectacular drive over Blakey ridge easy access to a scenic disused railway track walk to its east. Most walking very quiet except for a few hotspots (Levisham moor, Scott's monument, Roseberry hill).

"The cottage was lovely and the owners very helpful."
Will be booking again. Thanks, Jack and Ann.

"I spent a week at Rose cottage and thoroughly enjoyed my stay."
Janet was a lovely host. The cottage was clean and comfortable. Near by villages to visit. I would certainly recommend to friends. Because it is winter time, Evenings we’re spent sat by a log fire in tranquility. Surround land is country side with sheep in the fields. A stream near the house.

"We stayed last week at Rose Cottage and from start to finish, thoroughly enjoyed it."
Our arrival was swift when we met Mrs Benton we felt very welcome and nothing changed through till checkout. The Cottage is as you imagine, Old and quirky but that's what we booked so hit the nail on the head. The Cottage was well equipped with everything we needed (a pair of kitchen tongs was the only missing item) It was clean and comfortable. We met Ted, the farm dog, what a beautiful boy - he came to welcome us each morning with a stick, stone or a leaf - fabulous. On check out Mrs Benton took time to show us the rest of the properties to rent which were beautiful. We look to book again and recommend it to anyone.

"I needed somewhere to stay whilst in between house moves."
Somewhere to work and relax after a busy few weeks packing and moving. Rose cottage was ideal location. Very peaceful and in an idyllic setting. Janet was very welcoming and made me feel very much at home.

"Had lovely warm welcome from Janet andTed."
Cosy little cottage with lovely moors and countryside, although the weather was very mixed it didn't spoil our holiday, had some enjoyable morning walks on the farm withTed. All in all a much welcome break away from all this chaos. Thanks to all at Cowldyke Farm and not forgetting Ted and our morning walks.

"The cottage was ok, but does need updating, lots of dust & cobwebs that we cleared, outside was pure mud due to weather which couldn’t be helped, but meant we were trailing it in, the beds were very comfy, and plenty of hot water."
In the summer and dry weather this would be a great spot for a break. The owner is as lovely lady, who is very helpful if needed.

We hope to come back!

"We had a excellent holiday as we did last year when we stopped in Pickering, but once again the tv would not play my films which I load on to a usb stick because the tv was so old it did not recognise the format of my usb stick, so in future when I book accommodation with you I will be taking my own portable tv with me, it must be a Yorkshire thing, every thing else about our holiday was excellent and I shall continue booking our holidays with you."

"Very homely, no frills, very clean, fabulous surroundings."
Rose Cottage is very small, perfect for two adults needing a "battery recharge"! We'll be back!

"Very good use of photography made the property look much larger than it actually was."
Couch seemed to be from a retirement home, you could only sit up straight and had no give - so not comfortable at all. Kettle leaking, Oven door not closing correctly. Property was cold when we arrived, and even after turning the heating up and leaving on all night - the property was still cold in the morning. Even though we booked for 3 nights, we only stayed 1 night as due to it being so cold, we never got any sleep. We made our excuses over the phone to the owner as nobody was at the farmhouse, even after trying twice. Would NOT recommend this cottage to anyone. Very disappointing and will not be returning.

"Owners very friendly and welcoming."
-
"The directions to the cottage are entirely inaccurate."
If one tries to interpret the instructions, one would probably end up in Kirbymoorside, that is, in the oposite direction to the correct location!
-
"The owner came to welcome us on arrival, and if we needed anything just to ask."
A lovely cosy cottage very comfortable. Hope to go back.
