Step back to yesteryear along the Heritage Trail - look out for the old miners' cottages, the old well, the large monument built in honour of local banker Millett Grylls, the birthplace of boxer Bob Fitzsimmons, the Guildhall, St. Michael's Church and an impressive cannon outside the Folk Museum (free admission). You'll also find some great pubs, cafés, restaurants and traditional pasty shops.
Remember Wogan's chart-topping hit back in the 1970s? Well it has strong ties with Helston, Cornwall's second oldest town and host to the Furry or Floral Dance every May. Dating back centuries, this legendary festival draws crowds and there's a real party atmosphere from daybreak 'til dusk, with children and adults dancing in step to the local band.
