"This was our second stay here."
The lodge was comfortable and the views are awesome. If its peace and quiet your looking for, this is a great location.

I would love to revisit, the only tiny issue was the tv, it would’ve been better with some type of connected device for Netflix, Disney plus, etc. HOWEVER, that’s a personal preference:) I would stay here again either way.

However, it's lacking in character, is managed very impersonally, and is very un-green. We never met the owners, although they evidently live only about 30m away. They objected to our electric car charging, but only via Sykes, never coming to discuss it, and with the information buried in the middle of their folder. They don't have recycling or compost bins (although Moray Council do), and they closely mow (and probably spray) a wide area round the cabin into a wildlife-free 'green desert'. There is another lodge nearby, not shown in the photos, and no direct way to walk up onto the Ben without driving first. This place is unlikely to meet your expectations if you like to engage with your immediate environment (rather than just using it as a base and driving everywhere). Electric car owners also beware: not only will the owners forbid you to charge there, but the chargers in the area often don't function, or can't be accessed because of the lack of a mobile phone signal.

In a beautiful location right in-between the cities of Aberdeen and Inverness there is so much to do and see in the surrounding areas we will be back to visit again very soon .

"What a lovely place!"
The cabin is well equipped, was spotless clean, beds are comfy. The best for me was the location. What a view from the patio! It’s so peaceful and quiet. All you hear is the birds and moos of the cows. Loved watching the rabbits visiting in the morning/evenings. You can get everything you need in (and the whisky;-) in Dufftown, a 9 minutes drive away. Lossiemouth with a fab beach and coastal walks is 40 minutes away. The Cathedral in Elgin is well worth a visit. Loved hiking up Ben Rinnes. Amazing views all over Moray. It‘s also a great base for exploring the Cairngorms National Park. We visited Balmoral castle and drove the snow road. Plenty of stops and so much to see. Hoping to come back one day!

Elgin 20 miles; Aviemore 46 miles; Aberdeen 50 miles: Inverness 56 miles.
Dufftown is situated in the heart of Speyside in north east Scotland and is a thriving and lively small town. It is also right on the Malt Whisky Trail and the old saying goes, “Rome was built on seven hills, Dufftown stands on seven stills”. There are now nine distilleries in the area so a spot of whisky tasting is a must, unless you are the driver of course! Apart from the distilleries it is easy to access the world famous salmon fishing of the Strathspey area and permits can be obtained locally. Dufftown has an 18-hole golf course complete with breathtaking scenery and guests are made very welcome. In the winter months staying in the area provides great value for skiers and snowboarders as it is only a 50 minute drive to the Lecht ski slopes and Aviemore is an hour or so away, plus The Cabrach is a ‘Dark Sky Designated Area’ which is ideal for astronomers.
