"Lovely apartment in a former chapel, very tastefully converted."
Lovely reflections of the stained glass windows seeping through on a sunny day. Good location for the walls, city centre, river and racecourse etc
-
"Perfect apartment to explore Chester and beyond."
The apartment itself was stunning and very comfortable, felt very "at home" from the moment you walk in the door. The property owners leave a lot of useful information. Only 2 points that might be slightly negative, instructions for key collection confused us as the keys were tucked around corner of front entrance, not at side of the door and the tap for the bath was a bit wobbly and water drained from bath while in use so no luxurious long soak in that magnificent bath, having said that would highly recommend, will definitely try to book again. Property owners are very helpful and very approachable
Hi Kevin, so glad you enjoyed your stay…& hope you are able to visit again! I will give Sykes a photo with more detailed instructions about where the key box is located! And thanks for letting us know the plug on the Bath is faulty as no one has ever mentioned that before so must have recently broken! My apologies! Thanks again for choosing the Chapel! Property Owner

"Lovely tastefully restored apartment."
Very close to the City Centre, the river and walls Would definitely stay again.

"Ideal location for exploring Chester, so much to do nearby."
Parking is right opposite the apartment and is £10 per day, £5 on a Sunday. We loved the quirkiness of the apartment but as a few others have commented, the pillows are very stained, we took our own as we had read these reviews just before leaving. It is a shame the owner hasn't replaced these after it being mentioned in a few reviews. The place could do with a really good hoover as when we arrived there were quite a few hairs and bits on the floor, especially the bathroom. Other than this, everything else is great about 1 Chapel Place, with these few small tweeks, I would of given it 5*

"Had read reviews about the comfort of the mattress and stained pillows in a previous review from late 2020."
Therefore contacted the owner and asked if pillows had been changed. She informed me that she was due to visit the property before our stay and would check. Upon arrival the property had not been properly cleaned. There was a stain on the toilet, pubic hairs on bathroom floor, stains on kitchen table and chairs, no vacuuming had been done and when I checked the pillows, all four had multiple yellow stains on them. There were no pillow protectors in place and it was pretty revolting. Contacted Sykes whose response was slow and ineffective. Eventually heard after several days the owner would not be compensating us and no other alternative was offered. We ended up buying new pillows and submitted the receipt to Sykes and again this met with absolutely no response from them or the owner. The mattress incidentally was very uncomfortable. On a positive note good location but parking costly.

"So lovely !"
A stunning little flat in the heart of Chester !

"Lovely central location."
-
"A lovely apartment centrally located in the city."
The apartment is well equipped and homely. Plenty of space and quiet. Parked at the shopping centre car park for £10 which was fine but it would be a bonus if a parking permit came with the apartment. Would return here again

"Fabulous apartment in a lovingly restored building with original characteristics preserved."
Couldn’t have wished for a more central location with access to the city, walls and the river all within a few minutes walk. Can’t fault the apartment. The living area is spacious and comfortable. The bathroom is outstanding, the bed comfortable and the room has plenty of storage. The kitchen/dining area is spacious and has everything you could require Ou and about, we can recommend the river boat cruise and the Church of St John the Baptist, which was the original cathedral and is often overlooked. The zoo is a must for animal lovers and conservationists alike

"This place is faultless it clean very modern and the location was perfect very central to Chester making it easy to get to where we wanted to go."
I'm already talking about returning.

"Apartment was stunning , major letdown was the size of the bed and the quality of the mattress , felt like it was sagging right down the middle, poor quality pillows that where quite stained upon removal of pillow cases at the end of our stay."
-
"Situated 5 mins to River Dee one way and 5 mins to centre of City other way."
The apartment was gorgeous, communal areas were clean, bath was the best for a long soak after walking miles. Could do with a bigger bed but apart from that we couldn't fault it. Will be booking here next time we in Chester
-
"Fantastic location, close to all shops, bars and restaurants."
Clean and spacious inside. Large bath in a beautiful bathroom with stained glass windows. The bed is a double but very comfortable. All kitchen items you need are provided. Lounge is comfortable and sky TV is available.
-
"The flat was wonderful, especially the bath, and a perfect location."
The only thing that would have helped when we first arrived was knowing that it was located on the very top floor...spent a little while hunting around the building carrying our bags, but that’s a very minor thing. Overall, the place was just wonderful.

"This apartment is centrally situated, yet very quiet."
All of the great attractions, shops, bars and restaurants of this historic city are on your doorstep. I would recommend use of the Grosvenor shopping centre carpark - just across the road - for your stay. Whilst short stays are expensive, for 24 hours is £10 and your car is secure and under cover. The apartment was very well appointed, spotlessly clean and was like a home to home. We would definitely recommend to others and stay again.

"A beautiful apartment right in the centre of Chester."
We had a delightful and stress free pre Christmas break
-
"A great apartment in a great position but your listing does not mention the fact that it is a top floor apartment accessed by 34 stairs."
Had I known this I would not have booked as I have arthritis and a back problem and getting up the stairs with luggage was difficult
-
"Excellent apartment in a wonderful city."
Comfortable and cozy rooms. Very spacious kitchen. Wonderful bathroom. Unbeatable location. An incredible apartment.
-
"Charming comfortable apartment, attractively fitted."
We enjoyed the quality of the conversion and period features. We particularly enjoyed the proximity to the city centre and local attractions.
-
"The apartment was wonderfully charming."
Beautiful and comfortable. Bed was excellent and the bath tub simply out of this world. A brilliant conversion from an old church full of stained glass. Great kitchen with all the necessities. Loved my 4 nights there

"Great apartment!"
Original and comfortable, well situated in the lovely city of Chester ...

"TV system was hard to understand, got the Sky working OK but not Netfliks, TV in bedroom needed re-tuning and the reception on ITV programmes was awful."
Possibly me but a set of instructions would have helped. Cleanliness was good but there were marks of footprints of a hiking(?) boot in the bedroom (only faint) and some cobwebs around one of the windows in the kitchen. (Hence my two just under perfect comments.). We were not told that there would be tea and milk there (thank you) so bought some on the way, it should be on the blurb along with the biscuits. OK for the nit picky bit (you did ask), the apartment is terrific and the Trip Advisor comment about the toilet being near the window so you could be seen whilst using it was farcical, the beautiful stained glass windows are all obscure so it was ridiculous. (As was the T [tea] towel comment.). Where it is located should be highlighted more, inside the city wall with access to them about 100 yards away, literally minutes to a convenience store with everything, pubs and restaurants and no more than ten minutes walk to the heart of beautiful Chester. So convenient for sightseeing and a good night out without using a taxi, (excellent Italian restaurant a five minute walk.). The Zoo is about 2.5 miles away (satnav, spent a full day there), so it is placed perfectly with the (pay) car park opposite the front door so unloading/loading the boot is convenient too, a necessity with an MX5 on a 1000 mile road trip!. All in all we loved the city and loved the apartment and hope to return to both.

"Unfortunately i dont think the cleaner had been as the room/s are dirty."
We luckily found some clean bedding and towels under the bed and have had a quick tidy up so we can enjoy our stay. Not sure what you can do to remedy as first impressions are so important and unfortunately due to the hairs, crusty egg and dirty glasses in the sink, unmade bed and dirty towels, ours hasnt been a good one.

"The flat is stunning."
We had a lovely relaxing stay.

"Excellent city centre property - within the old roman walls , and close to shops , pubs and restaurants ."
We thought the Chapel conversion was very well done , the only slight issue was the lack of a privacy blind adjacent to the toilet , which was right against a floor to ceiling window , which did have the lovely original stained glass , but at night would have been seen from the roadside ! The flat being at the top of the building did have quite a few stairs , but I think we were fitter at the end of the week ! The property did not have on street parking , although this was available to residents - maybe worth the owners applying for this ? Although there was a privately run car park opposite , and a very expensive NCP car park very close by. Although our week at the flat was exceptionally cold and snowing , ( but mainly sunny) the flat was lovely and warm , and has very good heating. We thought providing a modern coffee machine , complete with the satchets , was a nice touch , and the flat had all the usual modcons installed . We would definitely recommend 1 Chapel Place , and will almost certainly return to it again . Mr Boyce .

"Unfortunately had no hot water during the majority of our stay, just bad luck!"
Appartment is lovely, stylish and comfortable. Close to centre of Chester and man on the carpark opposite was very lovely and made sure there was always a space for us to come back to because we paid for 24 hours in advanced.

"This is a beautiful and unusual flat."
Very comfortable and cosy. I loved the bathroom, so unusual. It is so close to the city walls and centre of Chester yet quiet in the evenings.
-
"The Chapel is absolutely beautiful and has everything that you need along with little added luxuries that really make it a home away from home."
The TV has Netflix and Sky for movie nights in and the sofa is very comfortable. The lighting and the quirky decor make it extremely cosy. The bed is also extremely comfy- the best I’ve slept in in a long time! The biggest gem for me would be the amazing bathroom. The bath and the windows were absolute heaven. The location is just the cherry on top. Shops and restaurants are barely a minutes walk from the front door. The river Dee is also an amazing walk and we loved exploring this amazing city. We don’t usually return to the same place twice but we will be booking to stay here again. Chester and this house have quickly become very close to our hearts. Absolutely perfect!

About the location
CHESTER
Liverpool 17 miles; Manchester 36 miles.
Chester has quite rightly been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England'. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the city is that within a very small area there is evidence of every period of history - from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times, through medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed townhouses and Georgian terraces, to Victorian restorations and 21st century architecture. The city has much to offer the tourist, including excellent shopping in and around the famous Tudor 'Rows' and lovely walks along the Roman Walls, beside the River Dee and through the picturesque Grosvenor Park. Explore Chester's beautiful medieval cathedral, visit Chester Racecourse or spend a day at the world renowned Chester Zoo. Further afield, the stunning Welsh mountains and coastline, the quaint market towns and villages of Cheshire and the Wirral Peninsula with its first class golf courses, are all within easy touring distance, whilst frequent rail services make Liverpool, Manchester and the North Wales coast readily accessible.
