  • "Amazing place, beautiful surroundings and quiet, only issues we had was on the last night the hot tub turned off as well as some lights and plugs around 2200."

Also had clearning attempting to enter at 0900 on the morning we where leaving, they said ooh didn't think you where still here as we didn't see a car, we will come back later l, then walked back to there car and lugjed about it while smoking standing around the car. On the whole I would love to come back, everything was ready for when we arrived and it was like a home away from home

Thank you so much for leaving us your thoughts after your stay at 15 Faraway Fields. I am delighted to hear that you loved your lodge and the beautiful setting at Southern Halt. I am so sorry, however, to hear of the way in which our housekeeping staff behaved, obviously this is not something we would wish any of our guests to experience and hope that it will not put you off coming back to visit us again in the future. This problem has been escalated to the housekeeping manager. Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

The lodge is very secluded and has a lovely big decking. Was very clean and spacious and the hot tub was amazing!!! We didn’t have the nicest weather but if we did I imagine some sun loungers on the decking would be nice. Also some new pans would be good as they have lost their non stick and everything stuck. The staff were very friendly and helpful, thank you

I am so happy to hear how much you loved your holiday with us at 15 Faraway Fields, it's wonderful to read all your thoughts and experiences of your stay! Thank you for letting us know about the replacement pans and for your suggestion for sun loungers on the decking, I have passed this to the Owner and Guest Experience Manager to follow up on. • "There are so many positive things to say about our trip."

It was very special as it was our first as a family for a long time. The lodge was fabulous. It was well cared for, clean, tidy and had everything that you might need for a self catering holiday. The view was spectacular, made even better with wall to wall sunshine. One constructive feedback is regarding the glass panel around the balcony. It was in need of cleaning due to the build up of green algae/moss but as my husband and son cannot sit still, they took care of it morning after we arrived. Staff were amazing, friendly and very helpful. In particular Sally deserves a shout out. She looked after us from pre arrival, on arrival and during our stay. We had a few problems, and she was right there to help us out. We couldn't thank you more Sally! Ryan was fabulous too in helping to liase regarding a vehicle breakdown. Thanks Ryan. Also the chap that looked after the hot tub. I didnt know his name but he was fab. Overall I would highly recommend this property and the company. We really enjoyed our holiday.

Wow! What absolutely wonderful feedback Trish, thank you so much for your appreciation and kind words. I have passed your comments on to the relevant people, who I know will be delighted that you had such a fantastic time at 15 Faraway Fields. I am so sorry that your glass panelling was not as it should have been, but please thank your son and husband for their help! I truly hope you will come back to stay with us again very soon, as we cannot wait to have you back! Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

  • "Absolutely fantastic, we loved it."

The view was amazing the place was clean and tidy. The recommendations in the book for the activities and the Indian and Chinese takeaways were spot on. One tiny point and I feel bad for mentioning it as the whole place is brilliant is the glass around the edge could do with a clean to enhance your view of the field whilst in the hot tub. The hot tub was checked every day by the maintenance team. I would rate this 10/10 and we will return. Thank you

Thank you so much for leaving us your wonderful feedback Andrew, I am so happy to hear you loved your lodge and enjoyed your stay with us at 15 Faraway Fields. I apologise that the glass panels are not clean at present, we are awaiting delivery of a pressure washer and then our maintenance team will be cleaning the glass on all of our lodges. I'm so sorry that this was not able to be completed prior to your stay. I'm delighted to hear that you will be coming back to stay with us again in the future, we look forward to seeing you. • "We spent a wonderful 4 days in 15 Faraway Fields recently."

The property's location on site was just perfect and the lodge really was wonderful. The accommodation was clean and welcoming on arrival and the hot tub was perfectly inviting. Staff we came across were all lovely and helpful. There really wasn't anything we weren't happy with, if I'd need to nitpick I would say the glass panels around the decking could do with a good clean and ideally you'd need a table for outside once the weather is warmer for Al fresco dining. We also noticed that some properties had loungers outside, again would be lovely in the warmer months. Perhaps a little shop/ vending machine with essentials in the reception area would be helpful if at all possible. All in all we had a wonderful break and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Southern Halt.

I am absolutely delighted to hear how much you loved your stay at 15 Faraway Fields Rita, thank you so much for leaving your thoughts and letting us know. The maintenance team are currently in the process of working their way around both our sites to clean the glass balustrades, a huge job as I'm sure you will appreciate. Outdoor furniture has now been ordered for the lodge and we are awaiting delivery, so when the sun finally appears we will be ready for it! I have passed on your suggestion regarding a small shop or vending machine for reception to my Line Manager. I'm sure it is something which we, as new owners, would definitely consider a little further down the line, so thanks again for the idea. I really do hope you will come back to visit us again very soon. Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

The lodge had everything you could need, it was immaculately clean. The beds were so comfortable. Obviously the highlight was the huge hot-tub which is situated to give as much privacy as possible whilst also providing amazing views over the surrounding area. Every morning the hot-tub is checked and topped up if needed. We were visited daily by the local ducks and abundance of wild birds. Sally from reception was very friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely be returning.

  • "Was at this property from 9th to 16th September 2022."

The lodge and decking area I could not fault. All very clean and was very comfortable. The only fault we had there was the hot tub which never worked properly from day one as the jets did not work properly and halfway into holiday stopped working completely on the Tuesday. Engineer came out the next day but after a lot of just turning off and on again decided it couldn't be used again and not able to get parts until the Friday (the check out day). Rang reception again and didn't get the feeling they wanted to help. So contacted Sykes themselves which they were very apologetic and more engineers (3 this time) came on Thursday with parts but even after this it still wasn't working properly. All ready for the next group to be wondering why it doesn't work. This I've read from others that have stayed here the same problem. This needs fixing when good money is paid to have a relaxing break away.

  • "We absolutely love this property, our 3rd vist."

However, we felt there are some things needed repairing or replacing this time. It would be a shame to let the standards slip. The outside table was definitely on its last legs. So some new outdoor furniture would be a real asset. The kitchen equipment, glasses , knives etc could do with being replaced. There was a knife missing from the block on our visit in February, its still missing! Good quality wine glasses and flute would be lovely! The big thing for us tho was the hot tub. The reason we book these lodges, however the headrests are very mouldy and were when we visited in Feb. Also, the tub was broken this time, the pump making can awful noise and jets actually stopped working for a day.( all was reported!) The engineers seemed to be away of issues but we're very quick to fob us off or make excuses, we were told the parts for the pump had been on order for over a month. They came and replaced the circuit board but the jets continued to cut out and the lights stopped working. Very disappointing. The kitchen tap was dripping. ( also reported) It seems a shame if these things are not taken care of as it reduces the standard of the property, not what we would expect when paying top prices. Hope this feedback helps.

  • "Overall we were delighted with the accommodation which exceeded our expectations in terms of location, size, space and facilities as well as the site itself."

We would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend it to others. However, there are a few points which if addressed would make things even better. Generally the property was clean but it appears that, as others have noted in reviews, the cleaning and maintenance missed some areas - windows above the doors onto decking were dirty and cobwebby, both inside and out, carpets under furniture in bedrooms were dusty and dirty, glass panels around decking outside were quite dirty and cobwebby and some slightly askew, external door mats were dirty and falling apart and clearly hadn't been lifted or cleaned underneath for a long time, the head rests in the hot tub have black mould stains on them, the hot tub filter makes a weird creaking noise, and there were various cracks on interior walls around the property which need filling and painting over. The aspect from the decking is glorious but could be improved by cutting back the reed bed that completely obscures the centre of the view, and clearing the unsightly blanket weed that covered about half of the pond. There could do with being some better lighting at the front of the property by the steps - there are just some small solar lights which don't work very well and several times when taking the dog out at night I tripped. The beds were ok but quite hard and the bedding not the highest quality. Would prefer softer, plumper pillows ideally - the ones there were quite hard and flat and a bit lumpy. The plug in the en suite shower drained extremely slowly as if blocked. When wiping water splashes from along front edge of bath where the wooden front panel adjoins, a lot of dirt came off on the cloth so presumably hadn't been cleaned very well previously. The rug in the main bedroom has seen better days and needs replacing (it also had bits stuck in it). Would be useful to have hooks to hold exterior doors open as they tend to blow shut in the wind very easily - we had to use the chairs as door stops. Also the door between main living space and hallway tended to slam shut with wind blowing through property - a weighted door stop or wedge would be useful here. Table on decking has very wobbly legs and wooden slatted top is a bit warped. Could do with a parasol. Bigger bins in the kitchen would be useful to save so many trips to empty them (we - a family of 4 - filled both each day). A couple more lamps / side lights in the living room would be nice to provide ambient lighting in the evenings, sufficient to read by but not as bright as the overhead lights which are quite dazzling.

    Mr Matt OtsJul 2022

  • "The lodge was perfect in size for us."

However, there were lots of cobwebs and dead flies on the window sills. Whilst we appreciate that the lodge is in a very natural environment. We felt that it hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned. The jacuzzi gave us a cause for concern and we contacted the number given for advice. The gentleman who came out explained that the reason for the issue. the jacuzzi couldn’t have all four jets on at the same time whilst maintaining the ambient temperature required. Also, it made an unusual noise. We were informed that parts had been ordered but due to supplier issues, they were taking a while to be delivered. This information should be in the handbook you find in the lodge. This will alleviate fears that you may have damaged the hot tub.
