  • "It was very basic, the washing up had not been done properly (e."

    G. the cafetiere had coffee grains in the filter), the wifi didn't work, one of the keys didn't work properly in the lock, there was the absolute minimum toilet paper

Thank you for your feedback, we will speak to our changeover team regarding the issues that you encountered, there should always be spare toilet rolls in the cupboard, the key was recently cut as an emergency key to stay in the safe box so my just need some use, we will check that when down in May. We have now changed the cleaning company so hopefully this will not happen again We spoke to the internet provider and they said fault with Open Reach how are sorting the fault out. We have also lubricated the door barrel which seemed to be the problem. We have also informed the housekeeping company regarding the other problems. Property Owner

  • "I’ve seen the previous reviews about the shocking state of Dreckly Cottage but that wasn’t our experience."

It’s an old property and the lack of natural light to the rear (the kitchen) means that it can feel quite dark. The sofa is so low to the ground that you feel like you’re in something designed for a Bedouin tent but it is really comfortable when you want to flop out. We never saw a rat all week and if there were any sneaking about the place, I know my Springer Spaniel would have let me know. Cleanliness all over the house couldn’t be faulted. As always with rented properties, you’d wish for some better kitchen facilities (your own) but everything worked and we had enough to do Lasagne, Shepherds Pie and a decent breakfast. The showers and water pressure were great and beds were comfortable.. we go away to rented properties every year and Dreckly Cottage was at least on a par with most of the places we’ve been. And better than some. Mevagissey is picture box pretty but really busy. There is some great walking and the house is working easy walking distance to pubs, shops and walls. Since those previous bad reviews, the owners have either done a massive clean up and repair job or in some way really upset someone! In September 2021 Dreckly Cottage was clean, rat free, great location, comfortable and with all you need to live comfortably for a week.

Thank you for your feedback, we have now replaced the sofa and have a 2 & 3 seater sofa (normal height) we hope to welcome you back again Property Owner

  • "Mevagissey is wonderful but do avoid Dreckley Cottage."

Although Dreckley was spacious and the kitchen reasonably appointed as described, we could not enjoy our stay because the house was damp and dirty. We had to wash all of the glasses, cutlery and crockery before using them, there was crusted dirt in the cracks of the dining room table, and the "patio" was so disgusting it was a health hazard - not somewhere to set foot in. The main bedroom had extensive damp on the wall and two bedroom ceilings leaked water when it rained. We complained about the state of the property but were met with denial. Another feedback for Dreckley which made similar claims to ours was soon removed from the Sykes website.

  • "We had a lovely time and the cottage is lovely."

Only thing I'd say is maybe clearer instructions for cooker. Not the easiest to use. Would highly recommend this cottage to all.
