  • "What a wonderful and quirky house!"

!!! Great location and fully equipped with everything you need. Just perfect for my birthday celebrations. We had such a special weekend. I must also make a note of how comfy the beds are!!! We all slept so well. Thank you so much!

  • "The Swanage beach house was a great place to stay."

It was beautifully decorated, clean and well equipped with everything needed - including plenty of kitchenware and sharp knives! Ensuite bathrooms and plenty of fridge and freezer space made for easy living. Three generations - 10 of us - had a lovely week. It was good to be only a few minutes walk from the beach and this lovely seaside town. We would all like to return to see more of Dorset.

  • "A group of 9 of us stayed in this property last week and we all found it a great place to stay."

The property was very spacious - a nice big kitchen (with a really good sized fridge - and we particularly liked the additional wine fridge!), dining area and large lounge. And the bedrooms were all a decent size too, with many having king size double beds. All bedrooms had en suite facilities too, which we found really helpful, being a large group of adults. All in all, it was a very comfortable stay in a very attractive property (decor in the house was interesting too! We especially liked the artwork). It was also very conveniently located, being only a couple of minutes walk from the town centre. One downside was the lack of an outside area, but appreciate that this can't be helped, given the location and type of property. And in fairness, this was made very clear in the description on the Sykes website. If we had to cite one (very minor) criticism, it would be that there could have been more sharp, food preparation knives available (these were somewhat limited, and given that there were 9 of us staying the house, often preparing different meals at the same time, a few more of these would have been helpful). But as regards the other utensils, the kitchen was very well-equipped. We all rated this property very highly and would definitely stay there again if we visit Swanage again in future.

  • "Swanage Beach House is a Gorgeous property with plenty of room for large adult parties to share space or spread out."

It has no garden but the front lobby is large, beautifully decorated and can be used as a cool inside/out space by opening the front door and leaving the wrought iron gate closed. There is a little patio table and chairs for sharing drinks and nibbles in this space. The sitting room is also large and comfortable. We had a few problems on arrival with an unexpected plumbing issue that required workman inside as we unloaded. The lovely owner Robert arrived to supervise the work and the property while we got on with our holiday break. The house is close to the middle of towm but in a surprisingly quiet street - no noise from traffic or people outside but it IS at the seaside so expect gulls - they are part of the package. All in all a lovely place to stay. We will come again.

  • "What a stunning house- absolutely gorgeous throughout."

The owners have done such a great job renovating it. And the location - 5mins walk from outer Pier, beach and station- is incredible. A little too incredible actually- we did get some noise from a high street bar until a about midnight, with the bedroom windows open. Just a couple of things that could be addressed in the house: as another reviewer said, the bedroom curtains are indeed thin. But i could see what looked like thick roller blinds installed in the windows. There was just no way of lowering them! And no mention of them in the welcome folder. Very confusing. Secondly the house was SO HOT. We improved it a bit by opening and keeping open most of the bedroom windows , and poked buttons on the thermostat to try and turn everything off, but the kitchen in particular was sweltering for our whole stay. Just seems like a waste of money these days if nothing else! On the whole though, a great weekend and I'd be happy to return.

  • "Overall a lovely stay."

Excellent location and the house is very clean. It worked well for our party size. The Christmas decor was delightful, and the unusual layout was a real joy to explore. There were a few niggles, which although didn't take away from our stay might be helpful for the future. Heating on the top floor is not working. Balcony room has a strange smell and the window dressings are not suitable especially with a street light outside... Huge lack of clothes storage might make a longer stay quite tricky.

About the location

SWANAGE

Wareham 9.7 miles; Poole 20 miles.

The small, family-friendly seaside resort of Swanage is situated at the eastern end of Dorset’s famous Jurassic Coast, on the celebrated Isle of Purbeck and is probably best known for its wonderful, gently shelving golden sands. The little town offers visitors plenty of shops, good pubs and restaurants, some of which specialise in locally caught seafood, and is also well known for its annual jazz festival, which takes place each July. The attractive, Victorian wooden pier offers a great place for a stroll or try fishing, and often used a departure point for divers, it’s a wonderful place to watch the world pass by. The historic Swanage Railway has its terminus in the town and regular nostalgic steam engine trips take tourists for a picturesque 6-mile journey, chugging through lovely countryside to stop just beyond the romantic ruin of Corfe Castle. Nearby Durlston Country Park offers a lovely day out with spectacular coastal walks, dolphin spotting and wildlife watching, together with comfortable viewing points and a well-stocked cafe for a treat after all the fresh air. Take the short drive to Studland, which has one of the finest beaches in the country, surrounded by heathland, together with the regular chain ferry, which crosses the mouth of Poole Harbour to Sandbanks. This truly is a delightful holiday destination at any time of the year.
