  • "My partner and I had an amazing stay at Acorn Cottage…it was immaculately clean and exceeded my expectations."

The view from the balcony and hot tub were beautiful. Few little welcome gifts which was a lovely touch! I was emailed by the manager on the day of arrival to tell us our accommodation had been cleaned and was available earlier for us to check in which was a bonus! It took 20-25 mins to walk into Bowness, nice easy walk down hill, the initial part was walking on the road but not particularly busy, then paths most of the way. I wouldn’t risk walking in the dark so we got a taxi back on 2 occasions costing £4 which we thought was a bargain! Would definitely recommend staying here and return however noticed to rebook next year cost significantly more which is a shame!

  • "Fantastic little cottage, really cosy feel and the view from the hot tub is beautiful."

Great location but quite a walk into Bowness and mostly with no pavement, you can get taxis though. One little suggestion for inside the cottage would be to fit some hooks so that you can hang coats up. Friendly staff on site, would highly recommend this cottage for a couple looking for somewhere cosy.

  • "A lovely cosy cottage."

From the hot tub you have a fantastic view of the hills and fields full of sheep. We’ve seen birds of prey, pheasants and partridges. The outdoor seating area is a sun trap, a real benefit when it starts to get cold. Parking right next to the property was a real bonus. We loved our holiday.

Our Cottage was very clean and we loved the jacuzzi! Only feedback is The Acorn Cottage it's not for light sleepers, any snoring will be heard throughout the cottage. This wasn't a problem for us and we wouldn't personally change anything but it's worth noting.

  • "Acorn is a little cracker!"

The accommodation is lovely. The high level beams were a bit dusty with cobwebs but the apart from this, the property was extremely clean. The sofa has a few stains on but very comfy. The bed was soft and comfy. Externally, from the balcony, you have uninterrupted views across farmland and to the hills. The only downside of the hot tub is the way the lid raises blotting out some of the view and if swivelled 180 degrees, you would get a better view when in the hot tub. As much as we loved the property, we probably won't return due to the traffic on the mile or so walk into Bowness. We like a pleasant walk of about a mile onto a bus route but we had to use taxis in and out of Bowness as the walk is mostly on quite busy roads without pavements meaning you are taking your life into your own hands. If you don't mind driving, this is one of the nicest locations I've stayed.

The location is perfect … overlooking fields and very private. Lovely log burner and hot tub made it extra special. A great base to explore the Lake District and only a few minutes drive from Bowness on Windermere. You can find some great restaurants nearby - especially the Italian trattoria. This was the first time staying at this cottage. But it certainly won’t be the last.

Property had everything you need, the Hot-tub balcony is ideal after a day of doing activities just to relax, have a bbq (which is great if you order from the local butchers) and soak up the stunning well maintained site. There is nice walks on site across the fields and a stunning viewpoint with a swing looking over Windermere lake and gardens/outdoor seating at the 5* hotel on site to enjoy a drink, which is only a 5 min walk down the drive. The property is also ideally located can walk into the local area for a few drinks or too the lake or a 5 min drive to local towns such as Bowness on Windermere, so don’t have to travel too far to have a good time!

The cottage was clean, tidy, beautifully decorated & the little touches of having tea bags and sugar and other little bits was lovely to have which we haven’t had been provided with before. The views from the cottage were stunning and it was so nice and nice and quiet even though there was other cottages sort of close by. Also nice and close to town but out of the way from the hustle n bustle. We will definitely be back soon!! Thank you so much for everything.

  • "We had a lovely, cosy Christmas at Acorn cottage."

The place itself was easy to find, but off the beaten track. Close enough to walk to the town for food and drinks. A few nice local walks, which the half way points would be pubs. The cottage its self, had everything we required. the kitchen was well stocked, enough for us to cook a full Christmas dinner. The lounge overlooked the beautiful fells and Grizedale forrest, which could also be enjoyed in the hot tub. Over all, a grand time was had by all, to the point of not wanting to leave!. Thank you.

I will say just to be picky that the boiler clicked overnight and the gate creaked every now and then, but didn’t turn me off the place it’s no fault of them, also if it’s raining it is very loud on the windows but again no fault of the place. Also take into account the walk into town is easy and quick about 20 mins but on the way up it’s all up hill which gets hard to do after a while and there are no footpaths for all the route so just be aware at night time have a torch on hand or sensible clothing :)

I booked this property as a surprise getaway for my hubbies birthday, and it honestly exceeded my expectations! One of the best places I've booked in and stayed. Sarah, Jo and the team who manage the property were great. Sending ample information prior to arriving (even meaning I could order and get delivered a birthday cake for my husband to be there when we arrived). They even contacted us on the day letting us know we could have an earlier check in and a later check out time. I don't think it is our last time visiting Acorn!

  • "There is no pub or shop within 0."

3 miles. The listing is incorrect. The hotel close by is closed for the foreseeable future. Did not like that there was no door on the toilet - in fact it is all essentially one room with walls part way which means you can hear and smell your loved one on the toilet!

Thank your for taking the time to give us feedback. Our listing states that there is pub/Shop less than 1 mile away, which there is. The hotel next door, as well as many other places in the local area close for some days and weeks in the lower season shut down to either give staff a break or because it is not viable for them to be open because there are less tourist around. The open plan living is not to everyones taste, we quite like it but we will ensure our photos are updated soon to show this to future guests. Property Owner

The property is very private with beautiful views over the countryside and the cows in the fields, and was the perfect romantic break. The hot tub was situated on the deck, which was incredible to sit with our drinks, looking out to those spectacular views. The bed was so comfortable and cosy (we were there is September) and the property has everything you need, even a hairdryer. The only warning I would give is that the walls between the bathroom and the bedroom don't go all the way to the roof so there is a gap at the top. It wasn't a problem for us as one of us went to the kitchen (which is away from the bathroom and down some steps) if we needed more privacy. We loved every minute of our holiday and we will definitely go back again.

The view out on the balcony is amazing! We were luckily enough to even see, what we believe, a buzzard! Which was a magical sight. The cottage itself is open plan, with walls being used as a divider, it is very airy and cosy. It was extremely clean, and a folder was left with instructions for everything and also details for attractions and walks. The site is also great, plenty of parking if you do need more than 1 space that comes with the cottage itself, and the site is peaceful, we were never disrupted by cars, or anything for that matter! It’s a great location, you can stay close to Windermere and Bowness - which has plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants and takeaways. But it’s also a great location if you wish to travel further too. We would 100% stay here again, and we more than likely will! There are plenty of other accommodations on the site too, so if this doesn’t suit your needs, then I’m sure one of the others will.

The property itself was very clean on our arrival and we done a pre order of a breakfast pack which was in the fridge ready for our first morning. I would recommend this as after a 4 hr journey it was nice to just get there and start enjoying our holiday without having to go shops straight away. It also had tea, coffee, fresh milk and biscuits for when we got there. The hot tub was lovely and clean and had such a lovely veiw which me and my husband enjoyed every day of been there and having sheep as our neighbours was great. We also enjoyed the lovely log fire esp as we went in the winter. The only thing I think the property could do with is some hooks around the place to hang things like coats or dressing gowns and a shoe rack would have been very handy. Just another thing to keep in mind there is no doors in the property separating any of the rooms including bathroom, luckily for us me and my husband don't mind but some couple's might not like that there isn't much privacy in the bathroom. I would certainly book to go again.

In the published picture it definitely isn't clear, We had 2 nights of being kept awake till 3.00am by inconsiderate guests having parties. We chose this property for the peace and quiet, but was spoilt by next-door. After speaking to the caretaker, this was a common occurance as the property sleeps 25,and hen and stag parties book it, for this reason, reluctantly we wouldn't stay again. This is such a shame as the area and location are perfect, as is the Cottage.

Thank you so much for your comments. We do apologise that the location of the property was not made clearer, we have now amended this on the website. We are also sorry to hear that you were disturbed by other guests during your stay. We do ask all guests to be considerate of other holidaymakers in our terms and conditions so we are sorry that this wasn't adhered to on this occasion. The owners do have an on call number for guests to use to report problems straight away and this could have been used during your stay to alert the staff visiting the site each day. The owner also has a strict policy in place with regards to stag/hen or similar parties booking the larger property in order to try and avoid such situations arising. Property Owner
