The only slight problem we had was finding the rear car park so perhaps instructions could mention Bank Road, a few yards past Lonsdale House, is set back and easily missed. It might be a good idea to include the What 3 Words location for it. ///statement.code.producing https://w3w.co/statement.code.producing

  • "I could not praise this holiday accommodation enough."

To start with location . Right in the heart of Bowness on Windermere, a short walk to shops ,bars , restaurants and lake Windermere, we parked the cars in the parking spaces and hardly needed them . The house , well where do I start , it was fabulous . Old world charm with modern needs . It was like being in an old hotel (as it had been) with all the lovely decor , quirks and comfort . Four poster beds with modern shower rooms. The kitchen was modern and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. There was a lovely welcome pack to get your break started with lots of goodies . We were contacted around lunchtime to say we could go in the property early as it was ready, which was great for us. All in all a great experience ,it was lovely to have contact with the owner who messaged to wish us a good break and also messaged at the end of our time ,it was a lovely gesture and it made it special for me . I could continue as there was so much that was great about Lonsdale House and for me no downside, but I would spoil the surprise and awesomeness of the place .We would love to go back .

Dear Mary, Thank you for your wonderful feedback and we are so pleased that you had such a fantastic stay at Lonsdale House. Have a lovely Christmas and New Year and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Best Wishes, Andrew & Kate x Property Owner

  • "House was in a fabulous location, 2 mins walk to the centre of Bowness and 6/7 mins walk to the lake."

It was good to have the separate rooms with en suites and then the bar and lounge/ dining rooms as communal areas - perfect for a group. Parking was excellent around the back, lots of space. The kitchen had everything you needed and very good none stick pots and pans! A lovely welcome pack with milk, tea, coffee, chocolates was provided by the owners as were dishwasher tablets and cleaning things. The only area for improvement would be that the sofas would benefit from a little refresh/ maybe refresh but apart from that everything was great. Loved our stay and would recommend to anyone wanting a central location, thanks for having us!

Dear Melissa, Many thanks for your positive feedback which really is very much appreciated. We are so pleased that you had such a wonderful stay at Lonsdale House. We have had all the sofa covers and cushion covers removed and washed to make sure that our very high standards are maintained. Thanks again and have a lovely Christmas. There was a lovely welcome pack on arrival which was very much appreciated. The property was very clean and ideally situated for the local amenities and for visiting the wider area. There is plenty of parking and the kitchen is well stocked with cutlery, plates and glasses etc. Communication from the owners was excellent. The only minor areas that could be improved are that the showers are small and there was no facilities for recycling cardboard, plastics and bottles. Overall I would recommend staying at this property.

  • "We booked this house, that used to be a hotel, for a family break."

We were absolutely delighted with the amount of space and location; the kitchen had plenty crockery, cutlery, glasses etc. There was a lovely welcome pack on arrival which included a box of tea bags, sugar, biscuits, milk, prosecco and chocolates. There was a mini supermarket within walking distance to buy any essentials. The property was about 10 minutes walk to Lake Windermere and there were loads of pubs, restaurants and cafe on the way there. All 4 of the bedrooms were of good sizes and were all en-suite. There was parking at rear and front of the house, we used the rear carpark because we had our dog; the front of property didn't have a pavement. We had use of a large kitchen, dining room, sitting room and a bar (which we stocked and made good use of). There were board games available to add to the family fun. The TV had Netflix at no extra cost. The owners were in contact to let us know the property was available earlier and messaged us on our last day to wish us a safe journey. There was only one area that I feel could improve this place and that would be for the showers to be modernised and larger cubicles. However, this aside, I would highly recommend this property for a family or friends break.

Good size dining room, conveniently adjacent to the well-equipped kitchen (though a few of the pans could do with being replaced). Bar area great for socialising (we moved some furniture around to fit in all our party of eight). Shame there is limited daylight in the downstairs areas. Parking for all four cars was a boon (even though the parking arrangements limit the ability to sit outdoors). Bedrooms are nicely done, though some of the en-suite bathrooms are somewhat compact. Great the property allows dogs, and it was an easy walk to the lane behind the house on summer mornings and evening. Property owners were friendly and helpful.

  • "We loved the house."

It was very spacious, clean and had great facilities, including a big car park which was handy as parking around the lakes is difficult. It was close to all the facilities. The bedrooms were lovely, and really big. It was great that everyone had their own bathroom. We would recommend this property for large family/friend groups, as there was so much space and the kitchen and dining room had everything you needed for cosy gatherings. Something that could be improved was the seating in the lounge. The seating wasn't very comfortable for a large family group and given that it rained every day we spent a few more evenings in than anticipated so bigger sofas would be good. If we had had better weather, we probably wouldn't have even noticed this issue. We met the landlord and he was lovely and very helpful.

Dear Frances, Thank you for your wonderful feedback. It was lovely to meet you all and we are really pleased that you had such a great stay with us despite the terrible weather. We have moved and altered the seating in the lounge and also in the dining room to make it more comfortable on those rainy days. We always aim to improve and strive for guests to have the best possible stay - it’s just a shame we can’t control that weather! Best wishes, Andrew & Kate x Property Owner

My little granddaughter believes in fairy's and her eyes nearly popped out of her head when she discovered a little fairy door in the wall on the bar. All in all an enjoyable holiday.

It was perfect. It was immaculately clean, well furnished and had everything that we needed. It was a perfect location, just walking distance into the town. I loved the decor and furniture, it added character to the house. It has its own bar which was fun to gather around for pre-dinner drinks. There was plenty of space within the house, and also for parking outside. The house was peaceful and I slept well. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was nice. I think the owners have done an exceptional job of meeting visitors needs and make the house cosy and inviting. They have thought of everything. We will return.

  • "Stayed with 3 generations of family for a weeks holiday."

Its not the normal type of property we would select to be honest as the layout wasnt super practical for our family of 8 ranging from 15-85 and 2 dogs. Especially with it not having any sort of garden. However, we were well aware of all this before we booked. We wanted to stay on this occasion close to Windermere and in the school holidays our choices were limited. So, if we do not return, it will only be because the property didn't quite fit our family make up/circumstances. We needed to spend quite a bit of time in the living room (due to weather and illness) and it wasnt that comfortable or sociable for all of us to do that at the same time. Having said all that, we had a good stay and the hosts could not have been more helpful. It truly is a unique property and we are very happy that we had the opportunity to call it home for a week. We certainly created a lot of memories there. The bar area was a big hit, as was the size of the dining table which was perfect for our board games. The bedrooms were great, lovely size and decor. However the ensuite in our room was tiny and the shower cubicle miniscule. That meant that showering was uncomfortable and for me pretty impossible to wash my hair properly. The firedoors on each bedroom (due to it being a former hotel) meant that when someone (two teenagers!) let the door just close behind them it was very noisy. Car parking was excellent and we tended to park at the rear of the property and use the doors directly into the living room for most of the stay as that worked better for us. A really convenient spot to walk into Windermere and lots to do on the doorstep without having to drive away. Two of our party hired cycles for the week and we all hired a boat for a day. All in all great accommodation, smashing hosts and somewhere we would be happy to return to if we were looking to visit with a group of friends to use it as a base. PS the teenagers were very happy that Dominos delivered to the property - just make sure you tell them when ordering to come round the back!

The quirky decore. Keeping the previous b&b features was a great touch. Each room had an ensuite toilet and shower. The bar area was a great feature. The Internet went down during out stay and a quick text to the owners they came to reset. So lovely to meet them and we will definatly book again. Pub not to far short walk into bowness and the lake so the dog loved his walks. Loved how dog friendly bowness is with the shops and pubs. 5 star definitely thank you so much
