  • “Diane Handley, the owner, was unobtrusively pleasant and friendly.”

She took us and our two young grandsons to see the cows and calves in the barns which was a memorable experience for them. The house was great for our large family party - plenty of space so we didn't get under each other's feet and lots of bathrooms so there were no queues!! We also appreciated the little extras - the welcome box, the bathrobes for the hot tub and the Halloween decorations.

The property

An outstanding, detached barn conversion set on a working farm, just a few hundred yards from the breathtaking Ribblehead Viaduct.

Recently refurbished, this cottage enjoys an enviable position with breathtaking views of the Ribblesdale countryside, including exceptional views of the famous Three Peaks.

Furnished to a very high standard, this fabulous cottage exudes individual styling throughout as both the owners and the National Park authority have gone to great lengths to ensure that much of the original character of the barn has been retained.

The cottage has been re-built using existing stone and has exposed stone walls, original oak beams and features a beautiful central stone arch separating the kitchen from the main dining room.

Featuring an upside down layout to take advantage of the magnificent views, the first floor consists of a main sitting room boasting a wonderful woodburner set in a feature fireplace.

There is also a games room on the landing area, a bridge over the ground floor dining room and two beautiful bedrooms.

The ground floor features a galleried central dining room with adjoining farmhouse-style kitchen and snug, four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

With modern appliances throughout and an eco-friendly geothermal underfloor heating system, this cottage provides a first-class holiday home amongst the Three Peaks and the famous Ribblehead Viaduct.

With spacious gardens and a hot tub, the outside area more than matches the quality of the interior, making this a unique property and inspiring holiday home.

About the location

CHAPEL-LE-DALE

Ingleton 6 miles; Hawes 10 miles; Settle 11 miles.

Situated in the heart of the famous Three Peaks, Chapel-le-Dale is a small hamlet consisting of the Ribblehead Viaduct, a railway station, a famous pub and a scattering of small farms and dwellings. The surrounding countryside of Ribblesdale is magnificent, offering the ideal location for fell walking, with the famous Three Peaks Walk, Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough offering some of the most challenging walks in the country. The famous Settle to Carlisle Railway passes through the hamlet and has some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. The Ribblehead Viaduct, completed in 1870 is a magnificent structure and the sight of a steam train passing across the top is one not to be missed. The attractive village of Ingleton offers a good range of shops, pubs and places to eat. The centre of the village is pretty with narrow and winding streets, centered on a tiny market place. The village's well known White Scar Caves (a short walk away) are open to the public and have a dazzling display of stalactites and stalagmites, caverns and a huge underground lake. The Ingleton Water Falls Trail is a short walk downstream. Natural attractions such as Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are within easy reach, as are the nearby Dales towns of Hawes and Malham, as well as Kirkby Lonsdale and beautiful Dentdale. The entire Yorkshire Dales National Park is on the doorstep; Lake Windermere in the Lake District is also only a 40 minute drive.
