  • "The cottage was well equipped, cosy, spacious and super clean."

The beds were really comfy and there was a lot of very comfortable seating. Lots of towels were provided and there was always hot water which was ideal for coming back from long walking days. Parking on site was much appreciated. We had a great welcome and will definitely make a return visit.

Thank you for the tea / coffee / milk / cake starter pack. Despite it being August we were still very grateful to for a bit of heating to dry coats etc.

Owners live next door and very pleasant, providing home baked goods, tea, coffee, milk etc. Toiletries also available along with cleaning products. Cottage itself very comfortable, quirky and easily accessible to surrounding countryside. Garden gorgeous and well maintained. Would consider a return trip!

  • "The decor of the cottage and furnishings did not match photos on site I would never have booked had I known."

Same horrid colour in every room bathrooms included plus noises from adjoining rooms in b & b the noises and closeness of main road also not mentioned made having a pet with us upsetting.

We are so sorry our Cottage didn't meet your expectations. With regard to the décor, being a family home we do occasionally redecorate and change wall hangings so we can only apologise if this is not to your taste. We no longer operate as a B&B and can only assume any sounds from our next door property resulted from our reunion after many months of Covid isolation with our NHS front line worker family with exuberant grandchildren. Again many apologise for the road noise. It would appear apparent from online photos and limited research that we are on a minor village road which is very handy to access local facilities and for the Hadrians Wall bus. Property Owner

  • "Had a lovely week in this charming & spacious property."

Ideally positioned for the town & it's pubs & facilities. Lovely walks by the river from the door & just around the corner from fabulous scenery & Hadrian's wall. We felt at home from the start & the owners Nick & Netty were at hand next door if you needed anything. Great welcome pack of essentials waiting for us too. We would definitely return to this lovely cottage.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Nick and Annette are great hosts and have a wealth of knowledge about the area. We very much appreciated our welcoming pack which included everything to make a hot drink etc and oh those wonderful scones! What more can I say, Great Place and Great People! Thank you so much.

  • "Your failure to provide a refund in April (when we had originally booked this cottage) will mean that we will be unlikely to use you again."

This is a shocking way to treat customers (irrespective of the legalities). Other travel companies offered flexibility, free changes, vouchers or a refund.

  • "Chare Cottage is a great place to stay and brilliant location to explore from."

The cottage was extremely comfortable and our host Netty had ensured that everything was provided for that first arrival including milk, coffee, tea, biscuits, shower gel, shampoo and we luckily got homemade sconces. The owners are there if you need them or not if you are busy like we where. Managed to explore Northumberland, Cumbria, The Lakes and Scotland returning to friendly pubs in Haltwhistle. Would we go again YES.

  • "The cottage is wonderfully spacious, comfortable and well-equipped with lots of character, and the owners made us feel very welcome."

It's an ideal location for exploring the area - we don't have a car & this cottage has excellent walks from the front door, as well as being very convenient for public transport. The only thing I'd suggest is correcting the online listing to say that the cottage does have WiFi!

  • "The advert stated that there was no wifi and there was, which of course was great but I would hate to think you lost any bookings due to this mis information."

It really was the perfect cottage, just out of town and nice and quiet whilst being within walking distance of all the facilities. Add on a good parking space, washer/dryer, towels and a comfy bed, it made a fantastic base for our holiday. Also it was very close to Hadrian's Wall and it's lovely walking whilst being a lovely, scenic drive over to Kielder Water for a bit of cycling - a bit of advice, hire an electric bike at Kielder, you will have an amazing day out. You can publish any or all of the above with my pleasure and thank you for a great holiday home.

Haltwhistle boasts a good range of shops and pubs - one of which, The Black Bull, is a real ale pub serving good food! There is an excellent leisure centre with heated open air swimming pool and cycle hire in the town, with pony trekking nearby. One of the best preserved stretches of Hadrian's Wall is only a mile to the north with various museums, forts and milecastles to be seen. There is even an ongoing 'dig' at the nearby site of Vindolanda. This truly is magnificent walking, riding and cycling country, with the Pennine Way and various bridleways and cycle routes passing rivers, forests, castles and of course, Hadrian's Wall.
