What a lovely find and great spot , the house was clean and welcoming with more than enough room for two families, only suggestion would be a lamp for the lounge - thank you

  • "Haverigg is sadly a much neglected part of Cumbria."

The beach half a mile to the right of the harbour is lovely. Nice small cafe too. Lido and beach walks for dogs nice. This property has a lot that is good and also has room for improvement. Good - lounge area, TV (once you work out how to use it), main bathroom and the local fish and chip shop. Room for improvement - the bed we tried to sleep in needs a new mattress, welcome pack information not great, number of plates etc for eight people needs to be increased, a lamp or two in the downstairs area would be really helpful for anyone who likes to read and not sit in stark white light, a couple of curtains downstairs would not go amiss on doors and the outside area needs to be softened with some plants or something of that ilk. We had builders next door Monday to Friday although there is little that could have been done about this some warning in advance might have helped. To be fair they were relatively quiet. In summary, although the pictures are a pretty accurate reflection of the property the little things that make a big difference to a holiday and perception of a cottage were not quite there for us.

  • "The property was nice and clean."

High end furniture, kitchen and bathroom. Bedrooms let the property down, cheap furniture, poor bedding ( cheap duvet ). The top bedroom, one bedside light didn’t work, went to swap it with the one on the other side of the bed but that had no bulb in. The tv in the room wouldn’t work. The lounge was lovely, but a standard light would be nice, I listened to music, I had to listen in the dark or have the main lights on. Also, at least one side table would be useful, I had to use the shoe rack and a place mat, coffee table to low. The yard (patio) needs some maintenance, the floor had bits missing where the floor covering has worn away. I’m a light sleeper, I had to buy a sleep mask, as the blinds weren’t blackout ones, so it was light in the rooms at 4am. Maybe invest in some blackout blinds or curtains. Lovely place and the locals were very friendly. Nice touch with the wine and chocolate.

  • "Very nice house plenty of room for a large family ."

Very clean . Think the house could definitely do with some shade in the yard !!! Would have liked better quality bedding . Towels great and plenty of them . Purely on a personal level would have painted the poor quality wood panels and doors maybe white . Would have looked better less like a sauna and more in keeping with the seaside theme . All in all this was a really nice stay , did have very hot weather to so garden shade and a couple of fans on the top floor would have been amazing . Thanks go to the cleaner .

  • "Amazing place to stay, not far from the beach and extremely cute!"

The three-story house is a cosy and tidy space with all the furniture and fittings in great condition. We had a great time using the well-stocked kitchen which comes with all the basic supplies, a dishwasher and a washing machine. There's even a small bag of ice in the freezer! The living space comes with a large TV and comfy sofas with blankets to snuggle up in during the evenings. There are lots of extra dining chairs for the indoor and outdoor dining space as well which was a thoughtful addition. The rooms are cosy and comfortable with clean bedding. One of the rooms on the second floor has the main light switch outside the room which was a little odd, but all rooms have small lamps. The top two bedrooms have lovely skylights instead of windows. Most of the doors didn't shut or lock properly, but that isn't a major problem in a close-knit group. Overall had an amazing experience here and really glad we ended up choosing Harbour Retreat.

  • "This house is perfect."

Fabulous location - 5 mins walk from beach & shop, chippy & 2 pubs on same road! House itself is spacious, clean, modern, really comfy beds & 2 great showers. A lovely welcome pack of chocs & wine & lots of little extras supplied. It was Nov & fairly cold but central heating heated the place up quickly. Great outside secure space which was great for dog. Will be returning soon
