  • "This was one of the best places we've stayed."

We like modern and we like the countryside. Not often that you find the two together like this. A perfect fit, as far as we're concerned. The property is very stylish and comfortable, super clean, with lovely outside space as well. We'd previously been on a walk in Hurst Green (The Tolkien Trail), so knew the village a bit. It's very pretty with a great pub (The Shireburn Arms). All we needed really!

Thanks Michael. Happy to hear that you had a lovely time. Property Owner

  • "We had a very enjoyable week at Hurst Green."

The cottage is well designed and furnished to a high standard. We found the bed extremely comfortable but on a personal level found the sofa a little low for our comfort. The owner furnished us with a lot of information about the area and eateries which we found extremely useful. The garden is immaculate and the patio a sun trap with great views to the rear. There is some traffic noise but this truthfully didn't impinge on our stay. All in all a lovely property which we recommend.

Thank you for your feedback - happy to hear that you were able to enjoy the patio in the sunshine Property Owner

The furnishings and fittings are clearly chosen carefully making the property extremely functional and comfortable. All the same elements flow through to the outdoor space which is rare in our experience. The village is beautiful and well situated for exploring the area. All in all this is a top quality holiday home that I would fully recommend.

Very modern design and very practical. The garden was also very well designed for outdoor seating and dining. A beautiful location within a beautiful village with easy travel to pubs and shops. There is a little road noise but it did not detract from our enjoyment of the cottage. Easily one of the best of many cottages we have rented over the years.

The house, garden, surrounding area & the weather were all just perfect. There is a patio area with lovely garden furniture & even two garden chairs around the side of the house if you wish to escape the Sun for a while. I really didn’t want to leave. We were made very welcome by Alison and there was also a lovely Welcome Pack waiting for us when we arrived. I’ve got to say the house is beautiful & Alison has thought of everything. There’s absolutely loads to see & do in the Ribble Valley, an area well worth visiting. Hopefully will return sometime. Maureen

The property is ultra modern and very comfortable. Hurst Green is a good location, being a quiet village but central for visiting Bowland Forest and easily accessing many walks and visitor attractions. Our host Alison was very helpful, and welcoming. When we had one minor question it was answered and immediately resolved. The weather didn’t allow us to use it much, but the outdoor equipment is brilliant for relaxing and enjoying the view.

Step through the door into the stunning open-plan living space, which houses a sleek SieMatic kitchen with state-of-the-art Neff appliances. Perch yourself at the breakfast bar and keep the designated chef company whilst they conjure up a feast or choose to make yourself useful by preparing the outdoor dining table. About the location

HURST GREEN

Stonyhurst 1.3 miles; Ribchester 3.6 miles; Clitheroe 5.3 miles.

Hurst Green is a small village in the Ribble Valley district of Lancashire, England, connected in its history to the Jesuit school, Stonyhurst College. The village is 5 miles (8 km) from Longridge and 4 miles (6 km) from Clitheroe, and is close to the River Ribble, near its junction with the River Hodder. Many areas in the UK claim to have inspired J.R.R Tolkien's creation of middle earth but the author certainly spent a lot of his time at Stonyhurst College working on The Lord of the Rings during the Second World War. Many have found connections with this landscape around the college and the 5.5 mile Tolkien Trail explores the Ribble Valley that may have inspired him. Walk in the footsteps of author J.R.R. Tolkien who regularly stayed at Stonyhurst College in the Ribble Valley. J.R.R. Tolkien was renowned for his love of nature and wooded landscapes and the countryside around Stonyhurst is richly beautiful. A number of names which occur in 'The Lord of The Rings' are similar to those found locally including Shire Lane (in Hurst Green) and River Shirebourn.
