  • "Everything was great."

Our stay was for our Diamond wedding anniversaryAll our family really enjoyed there time at Elterwater .Age range 12 to 84. Plus Lacey the little dog.Everybody would love to stay again. The only constructive criticism we could remark on was we could have done with a larger fridge!! Obviously we all brought to much food!!

Thankyou for taking the time to write a nice review. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay celebrating a special Anniversary. Thanks for the comment about the fridges. There are two fridges in the kitchen. You possibly missed one? We can always try to accommodate if there is a lack of space if you contact us. Hope to see you again. Property Owner

  • "A lovely property set in beautiful countryside."

Maybe a bit frayed around some of the edges... ill-fitting kitchen drawers and doors etc ... but overall it's a great hub for a family holiday. We loved it.

  • "This property is ideal for a family gathering."

Plenty of room for everyone and every bedroom had an en-suite, which we all appreciated. Ideal for walkers and those who like to travel by car. Super big kitchen and large dining table for those eating in. Plenty of places to eat out in the surrounding area as well. Lovely views from almost every window. Enjoyed watching the sheep and hens on this working farm. We had a mixed bag of weather but it didn’t spoil the holiday. Would recommend to anyone. Our age group ranged from 2 year old twins to 71 year old granny and we all loved our holiday home. Thank you.

  • "This is a great property in a wonderful location."

The facilities are great with a good stocked kitchen. Whilst appreciating the isolation of the house, the showers are not very powerful. I think the owner misses the mark by not promoting a starter pack and supply of logs. There was also a sufficient supply of toiletries, toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid. People appreciate knowing these things as it helps when packing. We were more than delighted with our stay and the assistance on hand when required

  • "An amazing setting."

The ex guest house layout works brilliantly for adult children with partners. No short straws on the rooms - all big and en suite. Kitchen is where the heart is for this place. 5 car spaces. Will book again.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
