  • "This Cottage was perfect, Gaynor and Neil had thought of everything and we were properly comfortable."

The downstairs provided us with great relaxation and eating space as well as a sunny enclosed garden for early evening sunny drinks. Upstairs the bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and really comfortable with nice linen and constant hot water. The availability of the secure dog paddock and the track walk made a wonderful bonus for us and our reactive dog. I would not hesitate to recommend this property (or the others on site as all to the same high standard) to anyone considering a visit to this part of the country.

Hi, thank you so much for your fab review. We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again another time. Many thanks Neil and Gaynor. Property Owner

  • "We LOVED this short holiday over the bank holiday."

The property was lovely and clean on arrival and warm. I was contacted by the owner the day before to confirm arrival information. The owner came to greet my parents on arrival and give instructions on how to use the heating etc. There was also come bits for the dogs like blankets which we thought was lovely shop. The open plan living/dining/kitchen was fantastic and we could still all have bits going on without being under each others feet. The bedrooms were so comy. We were in the superking which had so much space and a beautiful view over the track and horses in the field. The garden was perfect for sitting out in with a lovely table and chairs. The views were lovely and you got to hear and see some of the horses as well which was fun. The farm itself was lovely. Plenty of parking for the courtyard and the campsite certainly seemed busy, even though it was large there was minimal noise and no disturbances from the campers. It was lovely in the morning to wake watching the horses go around the track and then put into the fields later. You can walk around the track and say hello to them. The track runs alongside the beck which you can go in. I did see signs for a cafe and pub which we didn't do but looked like a nice walk. The secure field for dogs is fantastic. Everyone we came across was respectful. Just a few of points we feel need to be mentioned Maybe needed was more frying pans as there was only one. If you can please review the walls in the gardens as our dog managed to escape (she was ok and only out a few mins, medium to large size). Please get more pictures the ones at the moment don't do the property justice! There was no information pack on arrival with things to do/see in the area.

Thank you so much for your lovely review we are so pleased you enjoyed watching the horses and found the cottage comfortable and warm. We can certainly look at your points about the frying pan/pictures etc and we are also in the process of getting the welcome packs together. The issue with the garden walls you had we have never experienced before. The wall is just a standard size and if I remember correctly your dog was a lurcher which can jump very high! so hopefully this was just a one off and no harm done. We hope you will come and see us again in the future. Many thanks Neil and Gaynor. Property Owner

Award winning cheese shop close by and location handy for exploring the Dales.Underfloor heating we turned down as the temperature was too high and would recommend. During our stay we chose a mixture of lazy days, cooking, wine and Sky TV in comfort with the log burner and wood was provided. • "The property was well done and plenty big enough for four of us."

The beds were comfy, as were the sofas. There wasn’t a folder with local information, which would have been useful. We also thought that Instructions about recycling and how to use the TV were needed. There wasn’t anyone to meet us when we arrived in the dark. The courtyard wasn’t lit, we ended up knocking on two other doors before we found ours. It would be really useful to have somewhere to put toiletries in the bathroom. A small shelf or cupboard would fit in easily. Hooks on the doors would be good. There wasn’t enough space to dry the towels. Which were lovely and soft and really big. We would have liked a pan scrubber in the kitchen. We did a baked dish one night and cleaning the dish was very hard and involved lots of soaking. Thank you for providing a washer and drier. Thinking about the price of electricity at the moment, a clothes airer would be useful and save costs. The above are small points which would have moved our stay from 95% to 100%. Saying that we still enjoyed our stay and found the accommodation comfy and warm. We did some lovely walks

  • "We had a wonderful week's holiday at Orcaber Cottage."

The cottage itself - which is actually a wing of the farmhouse - is beautiful and the welcoming touches which had been provided added to our initial impressions. There were lovely flowers on the table, a bowl of sweets, milk in the fridge, coffee sachets, tea bags etc. The furnishings were both very attractive and also comfortable - eg the lovely, soft throw on the settee, which our young grandson loved wrapping himself in. The bedrooms are super - the large double ensuite, with a great shower room, was amazing, with views across the fields where the horses and sheep grazed, the smaller double and the single room were really comfortable, with plenty of storage/hanging space in the double and a large cupboard in the single, and a shared bathroom with a huge bath as well as a shower. We really enjoyed the garden, with its large table, and plenty of space to play games of boules and croquet, or to just sit and enjoy an early evening drink. The kitchen was very well equipped and it was a bonus having a downstairs loo. It was fun being on a farm, where the 'dog walk' (although we don't have a dog!) takes you around the fields where the Shetland pony and horses graze, and along the riverside. We have tended to avoid holiday cottages where the owners live on site (partly as we are quite a noisy family!) but this was perfect. Gaynor and Neil are helpful but not in any way intrusive - and the thick stone walls means that once you are in the cottage you are unaware of others living in the farm house and the two other holiday cottages. Our grandson was introduced to the two geese by Gaynor, and loved feeding them, along with the free ranging hens! We all - 3 adults and an 8 year old - were incredibly impressed by the standard of comfort, attractiveness and cleanliness of the cottage and loved the local area too. We can't recommend this highly enough.

  • "This is our first time staying in a cottage and what a cottage to have picked!"

beautifully presented, with a great deal of thought having gone into décor and contents. We took full advantage of the bar-b-que provided, with our hosts more than happy for a few friends staying down the road to join us in the garden. The location was great for walking, some straight from the cottage and others starting after a short journey to Clapham, Ingleton or Settle.

In a wonderful location, this first-class holiday cottage offers fabulous views of the surrounding area and is ideal for a large family, group of friends or two couples to get away from it all and enjoy this scenic area.

Renovated to a high standard, the property features a magnificent open plan living area which has underfloor heating provided by a biomass heating system.

This spacious room also has a wonderful central feature woodburning stove set in a stone-built surround.

The L-shaped modern kitchen is well-equipped and there is a spacious dining area to one side providing a great place to eat a delicious meal, reminisce and make plans for the next day.

The remainder of the living area is made up of a fantastic sitting area with a wall-mounted TV and an external door which leads to the garden.

Upstairs the main bedroom has a modern and luxurious en-suite shower room and is a lovely place to wake up and enjoy the great views out across the meadows towards Three Peaks country.

The other bedrooms offer flexible accommodation with one containing a twin bed which can be turned into a super king-size double on request and the other with a single bed and a useful guest bed.

Both of these bedrooms are well-served by a modern bathroom with a bath, separate shower, basin and WC.

This is excellent walking country, with plenty of routes from the doorstep and for the more energetic who love a challenge, the Three Peaks is one not to be missed, taking the average fit walker nearly twelve hours to complete, or they can be enjoyed at your leisure, maybe by doing one a day.

Enjoy scenic drives and cycling along quiet lanes with the rides out towards the Trough of Bowland being particularly special.

Just a mile from the pretty Dales village of Austwick, this is a great place to visit with a village green, excellent local pub, and The Traddock, an award-winning hotel and restaurant.
