"A lovely spacious cottage, very well equipped and spotlessly clean."
Only suggestion is providing a shower extension in upstairs bathroom. We will visiting with friends and had the upstairs bathroom and there was no shower facility upstairs. Sue the host lived in adjoining cottage and was so friendly and helpful. A lovely box of goodies to welcome us. Would thoroughly recommend and it wA a competitively priced too. Thanks again to Sue xx
Hi Joanne Thank you so much for such great feedback! It was lovely having you all to stay, and you definitely made the most of the weather, even the rainy day by the sound of it Property Owner
"Y Bwthyn is a lovely house situated on the end of a row of three isolated cottages in a secluded lane between the beautiful Talyllyn and Dysynni valleys."
The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped with excellent standard of finish and facilities. The owner lives nearby and is very helpful and there is secure indoor storage available for a 2/3 bikes. If you want an escape which is nonetheless close to Cadair Idris and the seaside resort of Tywyn this is ideal. There are plenty of options for outdoor activities nearby. Whilst the access road is narrow and steep this limits passing traffic to local residents and there is adequate parking for three full size cars on the flat outside the cottage. We had a great stay and will return.
Hi Ian I’m so pleased you had a good time and made the most of our lovely location! I was glad that the weather was so unexpectedly kind to you on the Saturday, and that all your planning worked out. It’d be lovely to see you back again, and I’ll make more space for bikes in the barn next time! Best wishes, Sue Property Owner
"Great pre-visit care from Sue the owner, sent us information on the cottage and things to do in the area."
Brilliant welcome on arrival from Sue. We felt that the owner genuinely cares about her customers and is not just doing it for some additional retirement income. Property is clean, well appointed and very functional. We would definitely come back.
Hi Mark Thanks so much for such great feedback. I'm glad you all had a good time, there's nothing nicer than to see guests with big smiles! It would be great to see you back again one day! Best wishes, Sue Property Owner
"Sue, the host, was very helpful and friendly - met us on arrival to ensure we arrived ok and could get into the property etc and provided details on the area ahead of our visit."
The property was exactly as described, and clean. It was perfect for our group weekend away to climb Snowdon, which was approx. an hour and 25mins away. There isn't much nearby that is within walking distance so if you need anything from a meal out, takeaway, shop etc you will need to drive - but this wasn't an issue for us. We very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend!
Hi Katheryn, I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay and that you all successfully climbed Snowdon, and that parking wasn't an issue there. It was good meeting you all, and it would be great to welcome you back another time, maybe to climb Cader Idris, just down the road! Best wishes, Sue Property Owner
"We had a fabulous family stay at Y Bwthyn and would definitely return again."
The cottage was immaculate, comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed and more after jam packed days of adventure. Was a little surprised to find the backyard was a graveyard, which wouldnt have been appropriate for our BBQ. It unsettled one of us for the first night and it's worth noting if you aren't comfortable with this sort of thing. We took our dog with us and even though we didn't use the blankets/bedding provided it was lovely to have the option. Sue left a welcome hamper which was a lovely touch and much appreciated. The location was beautiful and quiet, and felt safe, even when walking the dog around midnight. It is a child friendly property and our girls are already asking when we can return.
Hi Liz Thanks so much for your feedback and I’m so pleased you had such a good time with everything the area has to offer. Y Bwthyn is a converted chapel, and the old chapel’s cemetery is privately owned. However, if guests wish to explore the cemetery with its fascinating history, or use its grassy area behind the cottage for quiet pursuits, the Trustees have very kindly allowed this. It’s seen painting, yoga and just quiet sitting and relaxing over the years! It adds to Bwthyn’s own sunny enclosed terrace and the grassy open front garden. I’m glad you and your lovely dog have taken away some happy memories of your stay in Y Bwthyn and we’d love to see you all here again! Best wishes, Sue Property Owner
Y Bwthyn is a beautiful house, former chapel, in the tiny hamlet of Abertrinant. It’s a very peaceful & tranquil location where the only noises come from the wildlife. Inside it is very clean, well equipped & comfortable. Lots of information on things to do & places to see is provided. Sue was very friendly & helpful. The house is around 10-15 minutes from Tywyn, and is in easy reach of Dolgoch Falls, Abergynolwyn, Tal-y-llyn & Cadair Idris. We would definitely come back here for another stay. Thank you for letting us stay & making us so welcome Sue.
Hi David Thanks so much for your review, I’m so pleased you had a good time. It was great having you as guests and hearing about where you’d been! Thanks for leaving everything so shipshape too! I’d love to welcome you back some time, best wishes, Sue Property Owner

"A beautiful location no noise no traffic a great rest."
Easy connections to lots of places great walks and wildlife. Would recommend to anyone had a lovely holiday the cottage was very well equipped, Sue is a great host and really helpful.
Hi Susan It was lovely having you all staying and enjoying yourselves, you all looked so happy and relaxed at the end of your stay that it made my day! Thank you for leaving the cottage so tidy. It would be great to welcome you back one day. Best wishes, Sue Property Owner
"The cottage was absolutely lovely and the surrounding area is beautiful both to look at and explore."
We wanted for nothing as the cottage is very well equipped and very comfortable to stay in. The cottage owner was friendly, helpful and welcoming. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone who wants a refreshing break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. A wonderful place to sit back, relax and unwind.
Thank you so much for such great feedback. It was a pleasure having you as guests, and I’m so pleased you enjoyed yourselves. You’d be welcome back any time! Best wishes, Sue Property Owner
"Beautiful cottage in a great location."
Perfect for our group of 5 adult walkers . Communication was excellent and the cottage was well equipped and spotless.
Hi Philippa, I’m so pleased you had a good time and that you liked the cottage. I like autumn and winter walking around Y Bwthyn the best, with lovely colours and frequent clear skies. It would be great to welcome you back some time, best wishes, Sue Property Owner
"Beautiful cottage in fabulous location."
Gorgeous house pretty and clean and well kitted out. Sat nav and phones didn’t work at all maybe due to the weather. You need an ordnance survey map handy at ALL times. Needs a better explanation on the description for dogs. NO back garden, nowhere to walk dogs at the house (too many sheep, steep road) or let them outside for doggy business! Very dark at night and needed a torch to take dogs for toilet. Also it would have been even lovelier if the house had a log fire to come back to!!! But even after all this I would still recommend it to others! Ps Far too many jobs to do at the end of the stay like cleaning, washing, stripping beds. Also very sad not to get in until 4 and have to leave by 9.30. Seems a bit unjust!!!
Hi Fiona, I’m glad you enjoyed your stay and would recommend Y Bwthyn to others. The cottage’s beautiful rural surroundings, not far from Tywyn beach, means many pet owners book for that reason, often saying what lovely walks there are around Y Bwthyn for their dogs. They have all been happy to keep their pets on a lead in the lanes and the grassed front garden. Snowdonia is a sheep farming area, which is why we make it clear to guests before they book that dogs should be on a lead when outside the boundaries of the cottage & patio. We provide details of lovely areas nearby where dogs can safely run off the lead. There are glorious starry skies here due to low light pollution, and we provide good outside lighting and torches for guest use. The WiFi network in Y Bwthyn allows guests to set up a local communications ‘hub’ for, e.g. WiFi calling, WhatsApp and setting up SatNavs, mitigating poor mobile reception in our little valley. Best wishes, Sue Property Owner
"Beautiful cottage in stunning surroundings, very peaceful and quiet."
Walks from the doorstep or the large dog friendly beach of Tywyn is a 10 minute drive away. Thanks to Sue for a very warm welcome, we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Hi Craig Thanks for such great feedback, it was a pleasure having you all staying. Lovely to meet Baxter (and you too of course!). Glad you got to see the house martins and hear the young owl in front of the cottage. It’d be lovely to welcome you back some time, best wishes, Sue Property Owner

"What a fantastic holiday."
Location is great, the home is lovely and has everything you need. It was ample for my family of five and elderly parents. Really comfortable, clean and a really relaxing space to be in! Thank you Sue you really are a fantastic host. Nothing was too much trouble, and would love to revisit sometime!
Hi Barry Thanks so much for such lovely feedback! It was a pleasure having you all to stay and it would be great to see you back again some time. I’m so pleased the family got to see some bats and help with the sheep! Best wishes, Sue Property Owner
"Been booking cottages on Sykes for a number of years and I can honestly say this cottage was the best we have stayed at bar none."
Sue, the owner was lovely, friendly and had thought of everything to make the stay the best ever. Also the location is genuinely beautiful. Would recommend that anyone who wants to book a cottage in North Wales, look no further.
Hi Shaun Thanks so much for such lovely feedback, I’m so pleased you enjoyed yourselves. Thanks for being such fantastic friendly guests and Cookie for being our second canine guest too! It would be great to have you all back again! Property Owner

Exceptionally clean.so quiet in the beautiful countryside surroundings
Hi Lesley, I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay at the Bwthyn and your visit to the Talyllyn Railway. It was a pleasure having you with us! Best wishes, Sue Property Owner
"We absolutely loved our stay at Y Bwthyn and not just because of the beautiful location!"
The property was beautiful, everything was catered for. We took our two dogs and again everything has been thought about even down to tags with the address of the property and Sue's number incase the worse happens and the dogs get loose. This was a huge weight off my mind!! The stone floors take the stress away from worrying about the dogs shedding everywhere and they both loved the beds provided for them!! Thanks for a lovely stay I hope we got all the hair up
Hi Shelley It was so lovely having you all staying and what a perfect pair of dogs for my first canine guests Property Owner
"Very clean accommodation."

"Brilliant place to stay - very quiet (except at Sheep feeding time), plenty of kitchen pots, pans, baking trays, utensils etc."
comfortable beds. Bright and airy, spotless.
I’m pleased you had a chance to relax a little and enjoy some nice walks too. Lovely to have you staying, as well as snatch a few chats too, even though I wasn’t able to see that much of you! Property Owner
"You cannot find fault with this place you are met by the owner Sue who is very friendly and cannot do enough for you."
The place is very clean and tidy. It has all the facilities you could want. Most 3 bedroom sites have a double bed going to a single or bunk, Sues place has 3 brilliantly sized doubles The location Heaven !!!! A1 for a chill out tranquill stay without a doubt best holiday cottage i have stayed at 10/10
Thanks so much Pete, it was a pleasure having you all to stay, you were fabulous guests! I'm glad you enjoyed our lambing time, as well as experiencing our every weather, from hot sunshine to snow! Thank you too for leaving Y Bwthyn so clean and tidy, it was very much appreciated. Property Owner
"Loved the property and Sue who looks after it couldn't of been more helpful and friendly."
It was great having you as guests, and for leaving everything so neat and tidy. Thanks so much! Property Owner
"The cottage was absolutely delightful and a very relaxing place to stay in North Wales."
It was very well equipped and the owner had provided everything that you could possibly want. Information about the area and things to do were sent prior to the visit so that one could plan well in advance. This was greatly appreciated. Highly recommended staying here. Thank you to Sue, the owner, for all your thoughtful touches.
It was such a pleasure having you as guests, and having a chance for a chat while you were here too. I’m glad you were able to carve out some time together and had such a good time. It would be lovely to see you again if you have the chance. Property Owner
"We totally enjoyed the holiday home."
It is as described with a lot of detail given to all the small things as well. The views outside are breathtaking and it is 15 minutes from Cardigan Bay and it’s beautiful beaches. Cader Idris peak is close by but I wouldn’t recommend it tbh it’s a very difficult climb, and I’d say climb to the lake and back! The cottage has everything you’ll need for your comforts and perfect holiday. Lake Bala is only 45 minutes away. Local walks are gorgeous and we made use of the cemetery behind the house for pray and yoga which was very spiritual for us as a family. This is the perfect family home and we would happily come again. Sue is a lovely host and an amazing person. Thank you
I'm delighted you had such a good time and that you all made it back down from Cader Idris in one piece! It would be lovely to see you back again, thank you for being such great guests. Property Owner
Everything was as expected.
I'm glad you had a good time, and I'm sorry to have only seen you for a short while. It was great to have a chance to chat though, and hear about some of the things you'd done. Hope to see you again, Diolch yn fawr. Property Owner
"Such lovely accommodation."
So clean and in good decoration. Fantastic host who was on hand to give advice and always friendly for a chat. Great communication too before hols started. Spacious accommodation with places to sit upstairs, in bedroom or the lounge. Only down side was no garden, there's a front patio to sit in the sun. But no where to have a BBQ or hang beach towels to air. That's the only negative I can think of. So many facilities and cooking things catered for. Such a lovely welcome hamper too.
Thanks for such great feedback. It was lovely to have the chance for a chat and catch up with such a friendly family! Hope to see you again - and you can always pop round and use my washing line if you'd like to, Diolch yn fawr. Property Owner
"We were very lucky with the weather so only used cottage as a base but was very comfortable and was what we expected."
"Sue Wolfe is an exceptional host, with a wealth of knowledge of the wildlife and the area."
The cottage is a small piece of calm in an all too busy works. Every care is taken by Sue to ensure that everyone enjoys a carefree holiday.
"The owner, Sue, couldn’t be more helpful or accommodating."
She was the perfect host, especially if you are wildlife mad like us. The cottage was absolutely spotless. Very good welcome pack provided too. Plenty to see and do.
"The cottage was beautiful & set in a fabulous location ."
Waking up to those views was amazing . Sue the owner was fantastic & gave us lots of hints and tips for the local area . I even left some items behind and she kindly posted them to us . Amazing holiday
"I'm assuming that the first and last questions refer to Sykes in general and not specifically to Y Bwthyn."
As an agent your perfromance was perfectly satisfactory and met my expectations, no complaints. The cottage itself is outstanding in all respects, helped of course by the fact that the owner is close at hand and made us extremely welcome. Her local knowledge. helpfulness and enthusiasm are as outstanding as the cottage itself.
"The place was immaculate, cozy and very clean."
The owner, Sue was very welcoming and very helpful, providing us with detail info about different places of interests.
"FABULOUS. One of the best kept secrets of Wales."
Property and location were even better than expected. The cottage was very well equipped, even down to tea cosies and oven gloves. Very rural, although easy to find, but the hairpin bend is not for the faint-hearted. Spar and Co op in Tywyn sell most things, and you can even arrange deliveries from Asda and Tesco. Two slight niggles - no hook on the back of bathroom door for dressing gowns, and being open-plan I was aware of noise from the fridge when watching television. Lots of interesting places nearby, and a train ride along the coast is a must, but beware that not all cafes allow you to use their toilets. We will be back.
"The cottage has been lovingly and thoughtfully renovated from the original chapel."
It was clean throughout. All rooms well equipped and comfortable, the kitchen worth a special mention - everything you need is there. Quiet location, near to both coast and mountains. Brilliant walks from the door. Bats, owls, kingfisher, kites, salmon to spot. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable host. Very good internet.
"The host, Sue, was very friendly and provided us with all the nearby sightseeing information."
A good welcome goodie bag was much appreciated. The house is fully equipped with beautiful decor and is in a peaceful environment. Sue is a super communicator.
"Thank you so much, we enjoyed our stay at Y Bwthyn enormously."
We visit it often in our memories. It's a very beautiful, well presented Chapel house with spectacular views of the hillside. We were made to feel especially welcome with a lovely hamper of delicious treats. The milk in the fridge was joy to behold as we had not managed to purchase any on route and we were all ready for a cup of tea when we arrived!! The interior is well thought out and cosy. It was lovely to have both a bathroom and walk in shower. There is attention to detail with plug in nightlights to help navigate the property at night and a discreet stair gate to safeguard younger visitors. Y Bwthyn is situated in a very quite area with an abundance of wildlife. We enjoyed many a morning and evening watching the nesting Martins and pipistrelle bats flying around. The three free range sheep who would walk past the Chapel on an evening, pause to stare at us before munching on the hedgerow, made us smile as we sat out enjoying a nightcap in the property's front garden. The Velux windows in the property allowed the light and breath taking views to stream in, adding to the serenity and beauty of the property. There are lots of lovely walks in the vicinity, such as bird rock and an iron age fort, Castlle Y Bere and large lake for wild water swimming. Aberdovey, Tywn, Barmouth and Dolgoch falls are all well worth a visit. It was lovely having Sue, who owned the property, so close by, and we did enjoy our chats and seeing her amazing photographs of animals, birds and landscapes. Thank you very much for having us. The Jennings family
"This is a great location for exploring Mid Wales."
Situated in a beautiful location and very quiet. Great facilities, good shower and on suit down stairs but could do with shower above the bath in the upstairs bathroom. Comes well recommended.
Thank's for such a great review, and I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. It was good to meet you, all be it briefly. Thank you for your constructive comments regards an over bath shower up stairs. We can consulted with bathroom experts, and in order retain the room features of original beams, large airy sky lights and oak floor, it is not possible to install an additional shower up stars. however, we have made it more explicit in the description, so future guests are aware that shower facilities are only available in the wet room. Thank you again, and we hope to see you back one day. Property Owner
"A gorgeous, comfortable cottage, excellently equipped with all mod cons in a tranquil, beautiful, rural location; my idea of heaven."
There was a Welcome Hamper on the table and Sue, the hostess, was most welcoming, very friendly and helpful with a a wealth of knowledge on wildlife and the area; there is so much more I could add. So I'm very happy to recommend Y Bwythyn for those who love life at the pace nature intended and I will be going back.
"The cottage is beautiful and very thoughtfully equipped."
The only suggestion I can make is that there is a shower put in over the bath in the upstairs bathroom. Most people shower, and we were queueing up for the ensuite one downstairs.
"A very welcoming host who made every effort to make sure our stay was most enjoable."
Very well equipped property, picture perfect scenery, extremely tranquil place. Could not have been a more perfect stay for our family. Hope to return soon.
"The house was in a beautiful location with a beautiful scenery."
it was very peaceful and we would go back any day. thank you sue
"The owner of this cottage is the most lovely, friendly person you could wish to meet."
We had an email before we arrived letting us know what we could find in the local area and even looked into where locally served Gluten free food for me. On arrival, we met the owner, found the key easily and discovered a thoughtful hamper containing everything you need to get the holiday started and some beautiful postcards of photos taken by the owner of the local area. The cottage itself is clean perfectly equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay, we even made a birthday cake. The location of the cottage is very quiet but is ideally located for walking, the beach and the Talyllyn Railway. We had a fantastic two week holiday!!
"A lovely cottage and host."
We received above and beyond in terms of extras, a welcome hamper which was delightful, but also ample other bits and bobs such as toilet rolls, dustbin bags, dishwasher tablets and so on. Cottage was beautifully clean and well furnished. Wet room was fab for my parents along with the downstairs bedroom. Location is extremely peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed playing the board games that were provided, a proper family break. Upstairs could do with an additional shower over the bath, purely to ease congestion in the mornings in the downstairs shower room, but not a huge problem. Wifi was good. We thoroughly enjoyed our home from home.
"Sue was very warm and welcoming."
She gave us lots of advice and information Can’t think of a fault
"Lovely cottage very peaceful location."

"The cottage was delightful and had everything we could possibly need."
The welcome pack was very nice. The location was perfect and quiet. Good wildlife spotting. Aberdovey is only a short drive and shops at Tawyn 15 minutes drive. A very comfortable cottage that I would happily return to.
"MY HOLIDAY WAS PERFECT I ENJOYED EACH DAY ."
IT WAS PEACE AND QUIET PEOPLE WAS NICE AND PLEASANT, WHICH WE DONT FIND THIS IN LONDON ANYMORE. WE VISITED LOTS OF PLACES AND WE WOULD LIKE TO COME BACK AGAIN. WEATHER WAS PERFECT.

With step-free access from the off-road parking to the downstairs bedroom and en-suite shower room, Y Bwthyn is wheelchair accessible and perfect for families or friends, with a luxurious home away from home feel. The lovingly restored hallway leads to an open-plan living area with dining for seven people, featuring a quirky window above the layout and a charm-filled, well-equipped kitchen.
Sit back and relax in the warm cosy lounge area with its sumptuous sofas and wood burning-effect electric stove. Three bedrooms each boast their own unique personality; the first, an easily accessible bedroom, is located on the ground floor, complimented by a large en-suite wet room.
At the top of the stairs is a window and skylight nook with original beams, creating your own little haven to read a book or watch the abundant wildlife.
Two further bedrooms are located on the first floor, a beautiful double with a lounge area, and a spacious, light and airy family suite with 3 single beds, which can be arranged by request as a king-size and a single.
The upstairs bathroom features historic timber beams from the original chapel, and its large airy skylights and solid oak floor makes it perfect to relax in the bath beneath the sky.
While these luxurious timber features means there is no upstairs shower, the downstairs wet room offers the cottage's spacious shower facilities.
Appreciate the stunning views from the enclosed front terrace, where you can dine outside as you listen to birdsong.
An open grassed area opposite the cottage offers a space for games.
Why not find out more about the fascinating history of Abertrinant by exploring the old chapels cemetery.
The Trustees are happy for guests to look around and also to use the grassy area behind the cottage for quiet sitting, yoga or simply drinking in the view.
