Thanks to Sue for the welcome pack items.. gladly received and consumed. An ideal location for walks on the Dee estuary, the Clwydian Hills or the north coast resorts and beaches.

Rustic feel to it. Ideal if it's a quiet break in the country you're after. On a working farm. Plenty of parking. Well equipped inside. Situated already in beautiful countryside with the more dramatic scenery of Snowdonia easily reached via the Denbigh moors. Very good standard village pubs in nearby Cilcain, Nannerch, & Ysceifiog. I'll be back!

  • "Beautiful, quiet cottage."

Stayed as a family of 4 and we had plenty of room, plus 2 dogs! Hosts are on site, but not intrusive at all. Well equipped kitchen with everything we needed. Lovely to arrive to tea, coffee, milk and some Welsh bread which meant we could have a break from driving before heading out to find shops (we had a 4 hour journey and no room in the car to bring food supplies!). We had a lovely stay and would definitely book again.

  • "Lovely property in a lovely spot very unspoiled."

Quite basic but not in any bad way at all just really lovely. We loved the log burner on the chilly, damp evenings. The cottage was great for 2 of us and dog but not for 4 in my opinion. The shower was nice and hot and powerful too. Lots of hot water for washing up etc. perhaps a bit more crockery needed. There was a lovely garden to the side of the cottage with a table, chairs and bbq and great views. Could do with an outside light over the back garden door. Chris the owner is a great guy and willing to stop and chat if you wish. Just 2 negatives in that most dogs do not like cats and there were 5 cats around the place so not entirely dog friendly. My other gripe is the 4:30 entry time which is far too late especially in autumn and winter when it is dark early! If Sykes cannot get it cleaned by 3pm then they need to employ more cleaners for the cottages in their care!!

I appreciated the generosity of the owner with manageable heating and constant hot water-really exceptional these days. The location was excellent and fulfilled my hopes for easy access for walking from the door. I did this on two days, using a carpark less than 2 miles up the lane for another 3 occasions for walks in every direction. Just one day of rain that week and being indoors was no hardship. A memorable stay in a lovely part of Wales.

  • "1. Terrible smell of stale food, as I entered the cottage."

And identified as an unwashed frying pan that was caked on the outside with oil. 2. No instructions on how to set the heating at the cottage, which meant I had to sleep in the living room were there was a wood burner. I didn’t sleep properly re the lack of appropriate bed linen and the temperature being 1 degrees. Wore the clothes I came in, to keep warm. Spent the following day & half catching up on sleep! 3. I was given a washing machine manual to work out how to use it by the owners indicating that this is were the manual was all the time? Geoff the owner confirming that he hadn’t used it for over 7 years. He also asked his wife Sue, who also didn’t know how to start the machine. I had to google visual information to start the wm, to find that there was a fault with the locking icon flashing red. I informed the hosts that this was what was needed, And that the filter at the bottom of the wm panel needed removing and cleaning. I tried to identify a laundrette between this time, and was unsuccessful. Their daughter then confirmed in a note that I could use the family washing machine, and used it once. 4. On Thursday 16th February, I put bread in the toaster, and a bright blue spark was seen in the grill bit of the toaster. The fridge and all of the electrical appliance then wouldn’t work. I wrote another note, and left a text message with the hosts daughter. For me that was the last straw, as the complaints piled up, this was no longer becoming a break, but a DIY fix it campaign! When I returned I was told that I was having a hell of a time, and the appliances were now fixed. By this time it was too late, as I’d already lost unnecessary time. And just wanted to go home, and told the host.

However the Bed creaks ever time you turn over, and the Mattress is dreadful. The wardrobe is useless, and if your not careful easily tips forward, a far larger and stable wardrobe should be installed. The cutlery draw contents need a complete overhaul I haven't seen that lower quality since the eighties. The table wobbles I had to wedge it under one leg The lack of space to the side of the hob is taken up by a small freezer ( which is useful) however when cooking there is no space to place plates or hot pans so your walking back and forth across the kitchen to the work surface near the window, which is really dangerous especially if you have dogs / children. The boiler makes a loud Bang everytime it cuts in The garden has no flowers or flower pots to enjoy as a let Holiday I expect more Im my opinion this is Not a 4 star rating. We all wished we had booked a second week. A few hours after we arrived, we met the owners on the driveway outside the property, they were friendly, asked how we had settled in and said they would stay out our way, but just to knock if ever we needed anything. Thoughout the course of the week we passed each other a couple of times and each time they checked to ask if everything was okay. The property had all the basic necessities you could ask for, and an added bonus of a washer/drier - Perfect because there are so many brilliant walking areas nearby, if the weather wasn't so great in sure we would have needed it. (oh, and sheep and pigs when you look out the window too!!) We had been left a small welcome pack, with extra treats for the dog, and an Easter hunt kit for the kiddies! (Much appreciated!!) The property is in a perfect location, you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, but around 15 minutes in two directions there are towns with everything you're likely to need. Whatever sort of day out you're looking for, it's just a short journey away. 5 minutes up the lane there's a free car park to start off walks at Moel Arthur Fort or the back of Moel Famau. With several others walks not much further away. Snowdonia is a little further, but still easily doable for a day trip. Rhyl and Prestatyn are approx 30 minutes away, and Llandudno and Conwy only slightly further. We tend to try pick different areas of the UK for each holiday, but this place is such great value and the area offers such variety, I'm sure we'll be looking to book it in as an extra holiday. The only downside we had was the weather has been so great we never got chance to get the wood burner going! Thank you very much for accommodating us.

  • "The cottage is great - they have thought of everything you could possibly need right down to the small things, truly a home away from home!"

It is cosy, comfortable and clean. The location is perfect as there are shops etc nearby, but it is also amazing for walking as it is surrounded by fields. There is plenty of room for parking, and it is easy to find. The only down side for us was that the garden is not secure enough to let dogs off the lead - they can get through the fence very easily, straight into the area where the sheep and turkeys are. This was a big worry for us as we would hate for the dogs to upset the other animals - I am aware the listing says dogs on leads outside of the property however a secure garden would make the cottage even better. Also the bedroom is right by the kitchen, and the freezer is very noisy so this was not ideal throughout the night. All in all, a great cottage and we would love to stay again. Thank you for your hospitality!

  • "The cottage we stayed in, Stone Cottage, was beautiful."

Comfortable, clean and all facilities that you need, home from home. The location was quiet and off main roads but easy to travel around Wales from there. The scenery was amazing and having lambs outside your door was fabulous, as well as the sheep and other animals. The owners were so friendly and welcoming. Would definitely go back .
