Wetherby is a real delight, while a bit further afield is the ancient market town of Knaresborough, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.

The town is very popular as it overlooks the River Nidd and is considered one of the prettiest towns in North Yorkshire.

Wetherby is an ancient market town set in the centre of the Golden Triangle, twelve miles from York and Leeds and eight miles from Harrogate. Its location makes Wetherby ideal as a base for touring the stunning countryside of both the North Yorkshire Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy wonderful walks by the River Wharfe, as well as cycling, climbing, fishing, boating or just sitting and taking in the tranquil atmosphere and beautiful scenery. Wetherby's Historical Trail guides visitors around the town centre and gives a fascinating insight into Wetherby's past. The town centre has many interesting shops and galleries tucked down its cobbled streets, ancient walkways and secret passageways. The fascinating, historic Cathedral cities of Ripon and York are close by, plus the Spa town of Harrogate, as are the great stately homes of Castle Howard and Harewood House, the Cistercian Abbeys of Fountains, Rievaulx and Jervaulx, and the castles of Middleham, Bolton and Richmond.
