"A lovely stay at brookwood."
We stayed for the week over Christmas. House was very comfortable and clean. We had a a slight issue with the hob. But after contacting the owners they were there almost instantly to assist and help solve the problem. Thornton le dale is a beautiful village with ample walks on your door step. The house was decorated for Xmas, but my only gripe was all the price tags / labels were left on the decorations, which made it feel a little less personal / festive. But that said a perfect house and great location abd and very enjoyable Christmas break

"Claire made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived ."
The open fire was lit and there were cakes from her bakery . The cottage is beautiful, very comfy beds and spotless . We used the bus service to visit Whitby , Pickering , Scarborough and Hensley . The village is beautiful everything you would need on your doorstep and Claire’s cafe next door does a fabulous breakfast. We made some wonderful memories here Thank you for a great holiday.

"We had a lovely stay at Brookwood, the cottage was very nice."
It was beautifully decorated and felt very homely and comfortable, aswell as being well equipped. We had a lovely welcome and treat of homemade baking on arrival. Scones very yummy. Perfectly situated in the heart of the village, everything was just a short walking distance. Thank you.

"We’ve just had a wonderful stay at Brookwood."
It’s well located for exploring the Yorkshire coast and the moors as well as the characterful villages around. The friendly owner Claire met us on arrival having lit the open fire in the lounge (although there is full CH if needed) and she had set out some goodies from the bakery/cafe round the corner (which she also owns). The cottage itself is very clean and beautifully decorated and furnished with plenty of space. Highly recommended.

"Wonderful cottage in a beautiful village."
Cosy and warm during a chilly autumn week. Quiet location but right in the center of the village. 5 min drive to Pickering. Comfy beds, well equipped kitchen. Large dining area. Sitting room was great to relax in in the evening. Arrived to find delicious scones and bread which was really welcome after a long journey. Strongly recommend as a base to explore North Yorkshire Moors.

"Wonderful cottage, very clean, beds comfy, we had a great stay."
The owners are so friendly and helpful, their daughter is lovely too. They own the bakery and tearooms. The welcome pacķ, fresh bread, baked scones with jam n butter was such a nice touch. We will definitely stay again. Thornton Le Dale is so pretty it was wonderful, we enjoyed lovely walks and going in all the little shops. Had a takeaway from the pizza place that was very good. The Buck Inn staff very friendly we had a nice pint there. We met some very friendly locals too on our walks feeding the ducks. We visited Helmsley Castle and Rievaulx Abbey during our stay, 30min drive away. Pickering Castle just down the road and was worth joining English Heritage as a family.

"A beautifully presented home from home that was the relaxing retreat we needed!"
It had everything we needed and we really appreciated a personal visit from Claire to see if everything was ok. The location was perfect for exploring the Yorkshire area and a peaceful village environment. We'll definitely be back!

"We had a fabulous 3 nights at Brookwood Cottage."
The decor was immaculate and each room contained everything we needed. The three bedrooms were spacious and very comfortable. All the village had to offer is in easy walking distance with 2 pubs, cafes and shops. The hosts were very hospitable and friendly and even left treats from the bakery in the kitchen for us which was a lovely touch. We couldn’t have asked for a lovelier cottage.

"We have just had a lovely stay at Brookwood cottage."
The owner made us very welcome with lovely bread and cakes from their bakery on arrival. Every room is tastefully decorated, spacious and clean throughout. Beds are comfortable, bathroom well stocked with towels. The cottage is situated within easy access of all the lovely areas in Thornton le dale and is nearby to other nice places of interest. We had a fabulous time and will certainly be visiting again. Maureen

"The property itself is lovely, as are the owners, a really nice treat was what was left for us when we got to the property, there were three different types of cake, plus bread (freshly baked) and some milk in the fridge."
The only thing I can say anything about is there is a dishwasher there which I can't remember being mentioned in the description and so we never took any tablets for it, but it has to be said when it was opened it did smell quite bad. The owner, Claire is lovely and has the bakery next door which serves a really good breakfast, they also serve soup to take out and sandwiches etc; The pub over the road, The New Inn, their food was superb, with proper freshly cooked chips we had lasagne, the best I have tasted for a long time

"Had a lovely stay at brookwood, it’s a beautiful village with the bakery/cafe next door, which was visited a few times, gift shop and ice cream shop the other side of us."
2 lovely pubs, fish chip shop and pizza all to choose from, very friendly people, not to far from visiting different places and going up the moors. It also has the Mathewson garage (bangers & cash on tv) just down the road, just a shame the museum still not up and running to view things, you’ve also got the chance to meet them and say Hi which I did and it was Dave coming out of the cafe with a bag full of the lovely goodies they make, by all accounts he’s a frequent visitor. So thank you to the owners for a lovely relaxing stay.

Love the place having visited before and the owners couldn't be more helpful or friendly Nothing was too much for them even though we had a number of personal problems which they did everything possible to make things as easy as possible for us to cope with and we were able to have an enjoyable holiday

"What an amazing, fabulous gem of a cottage, from start to finish we were made to feel at home and Claire and Ben were so welcoming, thank you again for the Scones and jam, they were lovely."
The cottage itself was fantastic everything was spot on and everything was provided for, comfort, furnishings were all 1st class, especially the open fire. The cafe next door, Baldersons, which is also owned by Claire was also lovely, all of the staff are a credit to Claire, nothing was too much trouble for them. Had the most fantastic of holidays will be back next year and Thornton le dale is just prefect Thank you again Claire and family

"I house was amazing and wonderful to stay."
Me and my wife felt very welcomed from the moment we stepped through the front door to the moment we left. We had a little trouble light the log fire which Claire was happy to come help us with. We were able to manage after that. The bedrooms were spacious and very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was and spacious. The house was made for multiple people but even with two it was still amazing. The fridge and freezer were full size with plenty of storage for food. The induction hob was working and very quick to heat up, as was the oven. The outside/ garden looked amazing, we didn't get time to spend in it as the weather didn't permit us to but it was also very well stocked and ready for use. I would highly recommend for either a group of people or just a couple planning a getaway.
Thank you so much for your kind words! Loved welcoming you to our cottage and glad you enjoyed your stay Property Owner

"Another lovely stay at Brookwood - this was our second stay and our first Christmas stay."
We were welcomed back by Claire & Ben. The house was clean, comfortable and very warm and homely with a Christmas tree in the living room. Waiting for us in the kitchen were some lovely "goodies" (a lovely selection of cakes and scones). We have had a very relaxing Christmas here with a real fire every night, lovely local walks, time to read and enjoy the surroundings. The location of Brookwood is perfect as the house is off the main road but in the centre of Thornton le Dale and there is parking for 2 x cars. We have already re-booked for a summer break and can't wait to return. Many thanks for the Balderson hospitality.

"We have just had a lovely three night stay at Brookwood Cottage."
The rooms were bright and spacious and the photos don't do it justice. Everywhere was clean and tidy and on arrival there were scones, jam, butter, milk and two loaves of bread waiting for us. The cottage was perfect for our family with a lovely well equipped spacious kitchen and a downstairs toilet. All three bedrooms were comfortable and stylish. The bathroom was spacious with plentiful towels provided. There is parking for two cars and a fence and gate across the garden, making it safe so small children can't get out. The small garden area had table and chairs and a bench seat. The location of this cottage is perfect and we walked over to the Thornton le Dale Show on the Wednesday. Overall a lovely short stay and we will definitely be booking for longer next year.
Thank you so much for your feedback amazing to hear! Hopefully see you back with us soon Property Owner

The beds were extremely comfortable, the bathroom huge with a very good shower and the dining kitchen large and well equipped - perfect for a relaxing breakfast or evening meal after a day out. My thanks to the owner's for a wonderful stay - we all agreed we'll be back!

"Beautiful property 2 mins from the centre of thornton dale on foot."
Very comfortable and well thought out. It has been recently renovated with no expense spared (we found price tags on everything) and everything was immaculate. Kitchen is well designed and nicely equipped for cooking. Beds are comfy with nice bedding. Sofas are pretty comfy and the living space is genuinely a nice place to be. Garden is small and nice but be warned, it loses the sun early afternoon and isn't private as its open to the car port which leads to the road, but the pub garden next door doesn't lose the sun so its a great excuse to pop across for a drink. 2 mins walk from a lovely little park, shops and the thatched cottage. Cycle hire (ebikes and mountain bikes) is 2 mins walk round the corner. Pub and bakery literally next door with another nice pub just around the corner. Not much noise from deliveries (which was our worry). Short drive to Dalby forest and a lovely walk though the fields to pickering for more pubs (highly recommend the food at the bay horse pub), shops and some castle ruins. Host is lovely and very responsive but would suggest that you don’t send texts late at night as she runs a business and doesn't have her phone silenced at night.
