  • "Accommodating and friendly owners, we felt very welcome in the property, which was a lovely base for two people to share."

Everything was clean and comfortable and as described in the advert. The location is a highlight as there were so many things to do including such fantastic walks right from the doorstep. We would definitely recommend this property to others and hope to return in the future.

The views from the cottage are stunning. Our hosts were warm and welcoming and very helpful. The cottage is well-equipped with everything you could need, good wifi and an extremely comfortable bed. We really slept well during our stay. The weather was not very kind to us during our stay so it was great to return to a warm cottage with a log fire to warm us through after getting soaked during our walk. Definitely would recommend it.

Knowle Lodge was perfect for us and our dog, the photos don't do it justice, a wonderful holiday house sitting on a slice of Yorkshire heaven. We loved being close to hardcase crags for amazing walks and scenery, We also enjoyed visiting Howarth. The owners were helpful and unobtrusive and we can't recommend this lovely holiday home highly enough.

Only downside was, we stayed for 2 nights but kindling / fire lighters/ wood was only provided for 1 night. Also, could have done with a vanity unit in the bedroom. Apart from those little things, it was a lovely place to stay. It didn’t spoil our stay. The views were amazing from the cottage.

One of my dogs can bark at unfamiliar/odd noises so I was a bit worried that occasional sounds of people moving around next door would make him bark. As it happened, after his initial gruff, he was fine, as were we. The enclosed garden and proximity to the reservoir where the dogs could run free, away from sheep and cattle were a huge plus. Excellent for easy access to walks on the doorstep. Would go back, definitely.

  • "We had a lovely stay at this idyllic property."

It was very quiet, which led to a very peaceful stay (which is exactly what we wanted). There are plenty of walks nearby, and the owner has left some very useful guides for if you're new to the area (we were). The garden is completely enclosed, which was perfect for our dog and gave us peace of mind. We'll definitely be going back, and we've already recommended it to a few friends.

  • "We had a wonderful 10 night stay in the lodge!"

It's very comfortable and clean, and so relaxing. The owner is very nice, she's around if you need her, but doesn't bother you otherwise. There are potholes on the road, but nothing major, and you are in the country so this is to be expected. Steady drivers won't have a problem. The views from the cottage are amazing and there are loads of walks from the door. The fully enclosed garden is great for the dogs too, it was nice to know they could run around safely. We have already booked to stay again this year and will be coming back next year, so I would definitely recommend it!

Steep and narrow and full of potholes. Not enough storage in the kitchen. Bed advertised as can split and it doesn’t. Parking the car is among horse boxes which are in and out. Liked the private garden but it had quite a lot of mole hills which kept popping up. We actually left a day early.

  • "A great property in a wonderful isolated hilltop location from which you can see for miles."

A fantastically comfortable bed, a warm lounge with wood burner, and decently equipped kitchen. Very restful. Great place for rest, walks on both hills and by canals, for escape for and refreshment. Near the interesting town of Hebden Bridge. Good rail links. others have observed the road up has its share of potholes, but many of these can be navigated. Bit of an issue with some mould in a couple of places in lounge - we have a similar issue in our home and I've suggested a couple of products we hope can quickly sort it. Would be pleased to return again for another holiday there. Happy to recommend.

There are some beautiful long and short walks right on the doorstep, so whether you are an experienced walker or just fancying a morning stroll you couldn't be in a better location. The cottage was spacious and cosy too. The road leading up to the cottage wasn't too bad, there are some rough patches with potholes and bumps but as long as you drive cautiously it's fine, the majority of the road up is fairly smooth...if a little 108 can make it up there on a daily occurrence, anyone can. Brilliant holiday had by my little family, thank you again!

) and Anna the owner is very friendly. The garden of the property is big and secure, so our dog was free to potter around on its own without being able to escape. The property itself is on the top of quite a large hill in an incredibly quiet and peaceful location, surrounded by fantastic views over the moors. As long as you follow the directions in the booking email it's very easy to find. It's a good idea to bring some food with you as it's a long walk to the nearest shop, although there is a pub at the bottom of the hill which does lunches and dinners, which is worth a visit (walkable along public footpaths in around half an hour). The location is also a perfect starting point for numerous hiking trails and circular routes for example, to Stoodley Pike and Withens Clough Reservoir, or Hebden Bridge and Todmorden etc. Many of these footpaths are clearly marked and identifiable. However, Google is no substitute for a good OS map. We have already recommended Knowl Lodge and would be more than happy to book a repeat visit.

Be aware it is at the top of a hill so cycling takes you immediately downhill, coming back is all uphill and a stiff climb. Everything is a car journey away, at the bottom of the hill. The only problem I had was the wifi was poor. I could send and receive emails but Netflix or youtube didn't work. I downloaded 18 seconds of a film in 30 minutes. Apart from that it was ideal. The last mile of the road to the house was very bumpy, i have a standard Audi eatate and it grounded easily unless i drove at less than 5mph. Obviously not the property's fault but be aware of it.

The bathroom needs redecorating as the paint is flaking. And there are loads of holes around pipes and skirting boards that really need addressing, particularly behind the bed and in the bathroom. It's very disconcerting wondering what might crawl out of them! The place is remote, which means plenty of peace and quiet, but close enough to town, shops and pubs. The enclosed garden is great for the dog, but please pick up after them as I picked up about 7 bags of other dog's poo! All in all we had a lovely week. Try out the food at the Shoulder of Mutton in Mytholmroyd and the Robin Hood at the weekend - the food is excellent at both.

Adjoining the owner’s farmhouse it is clean, comfortable and cosy with a lovely secure garden for relaxing in or playing with the dog. Views are spectacular if visibility allows and the only downside is the single track road leading up there - it would be very awkward if something were coming the other way! Just right for a short break for a single or couple.

The views from the property are amazing and at night time the glimmering lights of the villages down below and the stars and the moon up in the sky make you want to stay by the old mullion windows and watch out all night. My boys - dogs loved the little cottage and to have their own enclosed garden wasn't just delightful for them it was for me too as my lurcher does tend to go after bunny rabbits. If you want to stay somewhere ultimately relaxing, slow paced with all you need for a comfortable, warm stay this is the place and being in Yorkshire you can only find beauty around you. The beautiful Pennine village of Cragg Vale is situated on the steep and winding Cragg Road and is the longest incline in England, still a major challenge to cyclists. The road winds its way up to beautiful heather-clad moorland, 1000 feet above sea level, and wooded cloughs and babbling brooks that cascade down the hillsides beckon the walker to explore the countryside. On the other side of the valley is the village of Luddenden and the glorious oak woodlands that make up Jerusalem Farm, a local nature reserve made famous by TV's In Loving Memory. In fact, this beautiful area has also featured in TV shows Happy Valley and Last Tango in Halifax.
