    We contacted the owner via text on the phone number we had been supplied with and he quickly replied, was friendly and helpful and quickly worked to remedy our issues over the next couple of days, with no inconvenience to ourselves . ...

    We contacted the owner via text on the phone number we had been supplied with and he quickly replied, was friendly and helpful and quickly worked to remedy our issues over the next couple of days, with no inconvenience to ourselves . The house was very clean and tidy, we did store a lounge rug in the garage for our stay as we felt it had a strong unpleasant dog smell, we don't have dogs, but the details of the house did say it was dog friendly and we took a chance on booking. This may put us off booking place listed as a dog friendly place in future though. The property had good facilities overall, and was comfortable inside with a nice garden and garden furniture. To make it an ideal holiday home for me it would benefit from providing a hairdryer for guests to use, extra cutlery, oven gloves and dish cloths, a full sized ironing board rather than the table top one provided. In a previous seaside house we stayed in there were buckets and spades and garden toys for guests to borrow which we appreciated and so the owner may consider putting some in this property. The beds would benefit from the addition of some thick mattress toppers to add to their comfort and a full size mirror inside the walk in wardrobe would be useful. The house is in a good location, great view of the Mere, walking distance to a supermarket, the beach, the town and shops and pubs. Hornsea is a nice seaside town with a good clean beach with lifeguards when we were there patrolling a part of the beach allocated to swimmers. Hornsea welcomes tourists and I would recommend it for a seaside holiday. Good parking at the property. We had a very happy and comfortable stay at 8 Mere View Avenue and I would give it high scores in all areas. If the sun had come out more and we could have spent more time on the beach and in the sea it would have been a perfect family holiday destination.

The property benefits from an open-plan living space, complete with a large horizontal window showing superb views across Hornsea Mere greeting you the moment you walk inside.

Settle down on the provided sofas and unwind in front of the Smart TV for a family movie night or keeping up to date with your favourite shows, and the added benefit of the woodburning stove to suit.

There is a dining area resting behind this with seating for up to four guests, the perfect space for gathering for an evening meal.

Walk through to the kitchen which has been fitted with pristine white units and sleek wooden worktops providing all the preparation space needed.

Once the evening draws to a close, retire to one of the four bedrooms, three of which rest on the ground floor, whilst the fourth can be found on the first floor.

Set up as three doubles and a single, this would be the ideal base for a group of friends or families, complete with a range of furnishings for storage purposes.

Choose to sit out in the enclosed garden of a morning with a cup of tea in hand and watch the sun rise with a good book in hand.

Hornsea is an excellent base for those seeking to explore the delights of East Yorkshire, and offers plenty of traditional Yorkshire pubs, restaurants, cafés and tea rooms for treating yourself to a delicious lunch or evening meal.

This property is a Bird-Watcher’s and naturalist paradise, with some binoculars you can watch the birds feeding on the mere.

Hornsea Golf Club is also within reach and offers an 18-hole course, benefitting from superb views and challenges even those professionals among you.

Hornsea Mere is within striking distance of the property and is ideal for motorboat trips and fishing, either from a boat or the bank, and it is also an AAA rated site of special scientific interests.

Choose to spend an afternoon on the golden sands at Hornsea Beach sunbathing, swimming or learning to surf!

There is also a Jet-Ski pond available about a 10 minute drive at Foss Hill Jet Ski Centre, Brandesburton/Catfoss.

Further afield is the charming seaside town and village of Bridlington and Flamborough, hugely popular with tourists for its range of attractions and its close proximity to the Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast which is a haven for birdwatchers.

The pretty seaside town of Hornsea lies on the East Coast, 15 miles south of Bridlington. This old Victorian resort has long, wide, safe sandy beaches and an attractive promenade with well-kept gardens, ideal for families. The bustling town centre has an old-fashioned feel with a good variety of small shops, pubs and cafes, whilst nearby Hornsea Mere is the largest natural lake in Yorkshire and offers sailing, fishing and boat trips. Hornsea Freeport is popular for shopping, whilst Bempton Cliffs RSPB reserve can be reached in just over half an hour's drive, offering one of the largest mainland puffin populations in Britain.
