  • "The property was very comfortable and well equipped."

Just be aware that there is a low beam between two rooms. We liked the chalkboard with recommendations of places to visit, we would add Wiseguys in Bridlington as a place to eat as the food was plentiful and very good. The location of the property was ideal for exploring the nearby towns, cities and coast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in beautiful North Yorkshire and would definitely return as there is so much to see and do. The owner we found very friendly and helpful.

  • "Yeah lovely character cottage in quaint village."

We were a couple and two teenagers, you wouldn’t want to go anymore people than that comfortably. Owner lives right behind you, nice guy, but not an arrangement mentioned when booking.

  • "We enjoyed a family holiday here and would be quite happy to return."

The owner was very helpful when we got lost due to the closure of a bridge, he was also very helpful when my son wanted to take the family out without having to take the dog with them. Just a very small point, could you supply either a mitt or pair of gloves to use for the log burner, to open the door when putting another log in.

  • "Wonderful place to stay."

Beautifully appointed, clean, well stocked with utensils, etc. Brilliant location for North Yorkshire and York. Good tips on the chalkboard for things to do and places to eat. Simon was really helpful and welcoming.

  • "Lovely cottage perfect for a winter break Simon and Jayne greeted us and had lit the log burner ready, so the cottage was lovely and warm."

Beds very comfortable slept well. The cottage is like a tardis inside much bigger than we thought. Kirkham Abbey down the road, closed in winter but we still stopped and had a look and we went to the pub there too very good they did food as well.. We visited Castle Howard at Christmas (booked tickets in advance) it was magical and also had a day In York . We drove to the park n ride at Grimston Bar which takes you into York. So easy! We had little problem couldn't work the shower but Simon was very good and answered the phone straight away and told us how to do it over phone. Senior moment we had! We would recommend and stay again. It would be even better in summer as the area is very beautiful.

  • "Our stay was amazing!"

! Simon was a great host and very helpful. The cottage was very homely, the beds were extremely comfortable, the facilities were perfect, we loved the blackboard with all the ideas of things to do and where to visit, and the log burners made our stay very cosy! If we ever need somewhere to stay in North Yorks we'll certainly look you up. Thanks from us all

  • "A perfect quiet village hideaway with everything we needed and a great host."

Parking immediately outside was easy. Easy access to York, the coast and the moors. A comfy, quirky cottage with lots of split levels and low beams. Ideal for 4 people (sleeps 6 in 3 double rooms) but the lounge would be a squeeze with more than 4 people. WiFi and TV both good and loads of space throughout the property. Pretty small courtyard with plenty of seating and totally secure for the dog. Loads of hot water, comfy beds and well equipped for cooking. Simon was a great host and there are a lot of extras provided like board games. It would be useful to have a non-stick frying pan, tumble drier, and a better ironing board/iron. We made good use of the washing machine with all our muddy walking gear and there is a drying rack. The bathroom floor would be better with lino rather than carpet and this is the only thing that I think should be changed to make the property even better - a minor point as it is a great place to stay!

Blacksmith Arms just around the corner of the street where we had a lovely Sunday dinner and evening meals, shame it closed at 7:30 as it was a rush to get back in time for a meal some days. Weather amazing all week and a good time had by all of us and the dog.

The bedrooms were beautifully decorated with lovely touches throughout the house. My bed was so comfy! Everything you needed was in the house and would highly recommend booking your stay here. Also a great location for walks with the dog, and a park for the kids, only 30 mins to york too!

  • "A lovely stay and many thanks Simon."

We would thoroughly recommend for anyone who would like to visit North Yorkshire with a dog and family. We were in a quiet village but fairly close to York, Malton, Pickering and the North Yorks Steam Railway/Moors. Some great pubs towards Malton for Sunday roast also. Very relaxed - a little like staying at a relatives house.

The shower was excellent and we had everything we needed, including games etc. Simon and his wife Mandy displayed a lovely pub type menu on the wall of places to go... and each one did not disappoint.
