"Very nice stay good location for a base if you have a car."
Only few miles out from centre of Whitby and easy to get to the moors. All facilities worked well and nice outside area to sit. I would definitely stay again if I was ever coming back to area.
-
"Wonderful cottage on a hillside with whitby Abbey in the distance."
Lovely fresh towels and bedding and changed every week. Has every you need in the cottage. Definitely visit again too.
-
"Our second stay at this lovely cottage."
It’s cosy, very high standard of cleanliness, extremely well equipped , beautiful views and very quiet and peaceful. Close to Whitby and other coastal attractions. An absolute gem and we’ll certainly be back.
-
"The cottage was cosy and warm once I had worked out how to operate the heating."
Some places were dusty in the kitchen which would benefit from high level dusting. Towels were a generous size. Double beds comfortable. The single room is cold as no radiator. Front door was an issue for opening and closing. This would be a health and safety issue for a more elderly guest or child as one had to push and lean against the door with considerable force. May have expanded due to weather however needs resolving ASAP to avoid potential injury. Great location and parking. Would be helpful to have a security light in the car park and some low level lighting installed for the dark winding path leading to the cottage. Would be a beautiful location in summer

"NoTelevision loose wires everywhere the TV was modern but was not connected up correctly ,We wanted to watch the England match but it was a waste of time."
Coming down the stairs there is no hand rail on the left hand side I am 83 and able, but I found it hard to get up and down these stairs.. no light in the small bed room, more lightly a bulb out,I had to use the side lamp run off the power socket. The building itself was good and modern looking,But a bit tired. with cob webs on the wall lights my daughter dusted them down herself. this property was priced way above what it should have been. other than the faults I mentioned we enjoyed our holiday there.
-
"The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed."
A great location, very peaceful but very close to all the attractions at Whitby. We would book this property again.
-
"Very comfortable and well stocked cottage."
Lovely location with counrtyside viwes across to the Abbey at Whitby. Good village location with train to Whiby costing only £2.00 return, you can park the car at the cottage and not need it again. Lovely train ride up to Middlesborough with lots of beautiful villages and walks along the line. You can also walk in to Whitby from Ruswarp along the river. Great holiday.

"Summer quilts would be nice as it was very hot in bed."
-

We would highly recommend Danby cottage to anyone who is looking to stay in the Whitby area.
-
"Great cottage."
Would happily return

"My daughter & I stayed at Danby Cottage , Ruswarp ."
The cottage was very clean & comfortable. The owner has provided tea towels , cleaning products , soap etc , so no need to bring these items with you. Also we were left an annual pass for Whitby museum which was very thoughtful. You can walk into Whitby from Ruswarp in about 30mins , the path is at the level crossing between the railway line & river . It's quite a pleasant walk .

"Excellent t cottage ,,well equipped and very comfortable"

"Excellent as always"

"This is an excellent cottage and suited us (couple with two young sons) perfectly."
On the very edges of town but extremely peaceful. Could easily walk into the village for minature steam train/boats/little shops and a pub as well as buses and trains. Well proportioned and spacious accommodation for an average family or small group of friends. Well equipped, only comment really is that the microwave is on its last legs and beeps randomly. Everything else worked great. Disappointing that games/DVD have been removed but I blame the pandemic for this. We were also with the owner's agreement able to charge our EV through the window which was enormously appreciated.
-
"A lovely little cottage in a great location with wonderful views towards Whitby Abbey and the North Yorkshire Moors."
Kitchen facilities were great and rooms very clean and comfortable. Ideally located for trips inland or to the coast, and lots of nice walks nearby. Would definitely stay here again.

Spoke to the owner and a plumber was there within half an hour. The problem was solved so fast. Excellent service and would definitely come back.

"We all really enjoyed our stay at Danby Cottage."
It was so cosy and very well equipped. We spent lots of time chilling out and enjoying the facilities the cottage had to offer. The cottage was in a beautiful location and was really peaceful and private. It was really convenient and easy to get to Whitby and lots of other lovely locations. It was also good for trains and buses. We would definately stay here again. It was really reasonably priced and great value.
-
"The cottage was very clean and was an easy walk in to whitby and we found a pub that was very good the food was excelent and very welcoming at the bottom of the road."
The views were out of this world and we would highly recommend this cottage.

-
"We just loved the private and safe location."

-
"Could do with a new boiler and there was a lot of cobwebs but it is a lovely cottage."
-
"A lovely cottage in a very pleasant setting."
It was well equipped and comfortable. We felt the directions were a little vague as it said the entrance to the cottage road was opposite the miniature steam railway but by the time you could see the steam railway you had gone past the entrance. The garden was pleasant to sit in but would be improved by there being a more solid separation between Goathland cottage and Danby Cottage giving more privacy. Perhaps some climbing plants up the trellis? It would be nice to have had a spare toilet roll as 4 of us quickly got through the one that was there and a dishwasher tablet for every day of our stay would have been good. However we had a good holiday in Danby Cottage and would happily stay there again.
-
"Lovely cottage , a bit dated on the steep hill, great views."
We had a great time and we were very lucky with the weather. I would like just to say that sign with direction to the cottage should be more visible and the road to the cottage is narrow and a bit steep .
-
"Lovely cottage, very cosy."
The kitchen is very well equipped with everything that you may need. The boiler is situated in a wardrobe in the single bedroom, it is unfortunately very noisy!! In the bedroom st the back of the cottage the radiator pipes seem to be very near to the floorboards and so squeak/creak loudly when you are walking past the radiator, this could in time crack the pipes? Overall a lovely holiday cottage in a beautiful setting.

"We arrived in the evening when it was dark but after we had opened the door and turned the light on we where pleasent surprised how comfortable it looked and with tasteful Christmas decorations we felt immediately at Home."
We had a small problem with the heating but Jenny our host was very helpful and got this rectified quickly,so this didn't detract from our experience. We loved our stay at Danby cottage and it felt like home. We want to thank the owner for her care and consideration, we couldn't find the visitors book to express our feelings but left a card. A little reminder change the batteries on the remote. Overall it was wonderful time and would recommend to our friends.

"I enjoyed my stay at Danby cottage and would recommend it."
-
"My second stay at this beautiful cottage."
It’s perfect for a relaxing get away. Unfortunately can’t see me returning as the price for the same week next year has risen by more than 60%. Such a shame !!
-
"Danby cottage was very clean, comfortable and cosy."
Kitchen was well equipped and the cottage was well situated in a peaceful location close to the Moor and the coast.
-
"We had a great time there it was very homely and very clean."
We highly recomend it
-
"Lovely rural setting albeit up a steep hill but this gives fab views."
Danby is among a group of what looks like old farm buildings made in to several smaller cottages. It is tastefully decorated and very clean with modern facilities such as wifi, washing machine, dishwasher etc. (The TV isn't going to last much longer.) I would've liked to see a visitor book with suggestions of where people have visited, restaurants etc. A nice little base for visiting the North Yorkshire coast and moors.
-
"We had a lovely holiday in Danby cottage."
It is set in peaceful & beautiful surroundings, perfect for a relaxing break. We were surprised but excited to see a wild deer cross our path on the drive up to the cottages. Danby cottage was cosy & welcoming with everything you might need. It was very clean and well-cared for with comfy sofas and beds. It is only a short drive from Whitby town centre and there is also a countryside walk of about a mile from Ruswarp into town if you fancy stretching your legs. We had a very enjoyable trip.
-
"Perfect location and a real home from home."
We had everything we needed. Would certainly recommend this holiday cottage - beautiful.
-
"Lovely cottage set in a rural area but close enough to all u need."
-
"The hill up to the cottage was more than a slight incline it was very steep not ..."
The hill up to the cottage was more than a slight incline it was very steep not for the fainthearted to walk up,I only did it once had to use the car,and park it near the boating lake then either walk by the railway line which took us 35mins or catch the bus which ran every half hour, enjoyed our stay cottage was everything you could wish for
-
"This is a lovely cottage, very quiet and great for families."
There were lots of extras to make the stay provided by the owners easy I.e kitchen roll, dishwasher tablets, dvds. We would be more than happy to stay again. The cottage is in a great location to explore however you need to be aware that the car is really needed as there isn’t much to do within walking distance of the cottage.
-
"Had a lovely time there hope to go again the scenery was lovely and nice and quiet great views"
-
"Everything provided including lovely large white fluffy towels!"
Comfortable seating and a lovely outside space, excellent.
-

"We really enjoyed our stay."
The cottage is lovely.
-
"ALL GOOD."
-
"Such a lovely cottage with everything we needed to make our 5 night stay with two young children comfortable and extremely enjoyable."
One suggestion which would have exceeded expectations would be the option to have a stair gate put in. Our 18 mth old is very quick so we had to watch him like a hawk. However we got around this but putting dining chairs at the top and bottom of stairs. Other than that the cottage and location was fantastic. Thank you.
-
"A very comfortable cottage with everything we needed for a brilliant week away."
Well equipped, lovely and warm with plenty of hot water. Excellent location and very quiet, I imagine in the warmer months it would be lovely to sit outside in the evening. Cannot fault this cottage and would certainly return - hopefully soon.
-
"A fantastic cottage."
-
"A comfy and well equipped cottage."
Location great for us as we like to be a little off the’beaten track ‘. Short drive to Whitby. Had a perfect week. Would definitely visit this cottage again if it remains in our price range .
