"Beautiful large house, everything you need for your stay, location fab, free parking for at least 2 cars, sheep in the field behind and water tower and view of causeway at the front, very quiet."
The only snag we had is that the garden is not enclosed and the rear wall is low with the sheep on the other side, so our little puppies escaped out the front and nervous of them jumping the wall.

"Lovely week."
House was in a great position away from the crowds with a view over a field of sheep at the back.Kitchen was well stocked for a self catering holiday and the house was plenty big enough.Only downside was the back garden was not enclosed as in the description (no side gate) and the shower could really do with being thermostatically controlled.

"Really comfortable and cosy."
No views but in winter that didn’t bother us and only a short walk to see everything. I would definitely go back.

"A really lovely cottage - spacious, warm, spotless, and with everything you need."
It was so peaceful and relaxing staying on Holy Island. Causeway Cottage was perfect to return to after a cold day of walking. We will definitely be back.

"Lovely house in great location, would love to visit again one day, no need to leave island as arranged Asda delivery for day after our arrival."
Only 2 niggles, could do with some smaller sharp vegetable type knives in kitchen and the rear garden not fully enclosed as listed. Thank you for having us!!

"What an amazing stay we had, thoroughly enjoyed it all, the accommodation was lovely, beds all clean and comfortable, and everything you could need to have a lovely stay, including a lovely welcome pack, and so convenient for exploring the island."
No criticism but maybe a couple of observations for the future, would maybe be helpful to have an extra toilet, especially if you do have 6 pple staying, could get a tad awkward, and maybe a gate across the back garden to make it fully enclosed for pple with dogs... Would highly recommend this accommodation for anyone wanting to stay on the island, and hopefully will get back ourselves at some time. Thank you for everything

"Nice location and friendly neighbours."
Spacious property although minimalistic inside. Too many bare walls. The rear garden is not enclosed for pets as there is clear access between the houses from the rear to the front garden and road. Pity there is no dishwasher because it made me the 75 year old head cook and washer up each day. Other than that , it was a wonderful stay on Holy Island.

"Lovely cottage, quiet location."
Really relaxing holiday. Back garden not completely enclosed as access to front not closed. Could be a problem if taking a dog.
-
"Perfectly positioned close to the village centre but far enough out for peace when the island gets busy."
The house is really well looked after and fully stocked for self catering - fridge, freezer and washing machine. The owners are local and can’t do enough to make your stay enjoyable.

About the location
HOLY ISLAND
Berwick-upon-Tweed 14 miles; Bamburgh 16miles; Seahouses 18 miles
Holy Island is home to Lindisfarne Priory, one of the most important centres of early Christianity in Anglo Saxon England. The monastery was founded in AD 635 by St Aiden, but the island is more famously associated with St Cuthbert whose remains were carried by monks to Durham, and there they still remain. The island is now a popular tourist attraction with many visitors making a pilgrimage to the priory or following in the footsteps of the monks along St Cuthbert’s Way. Situated in the heart of the Heritage Coastline, the exciting journey to Holy Island begins with the essential check of the tides, the island is accessed via a long causeway which is impassable once the tide comes in. There is ample central parking and a short stroll will take you to the priory. The village itself has quaint tea rooms and pubs and a museum detailing the island’s interesting history. Those who enjoy the great outdoors will be delighted with the Northumberland Coastal Path, which runs through Beal just two miles inland and onwards down the Heritage Coast, offering stunning scenery along the way. Holy Island is within easy reach of both St Oswald's Way and St Cuthbert's Way and there are some great birdwatching sites nearby. Northumberland’s beautiful coastline, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, the Cheviots and the fascinating border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, are all only a short drive away. The pretty village of Ford with its castle and craft shops is 13 miles away, part of the Ford and Etal Estate which has facilities for cycling and fishing, as well as a mini railway – ideal for all the family. There are also excellent golfing opportunities, with eight golf courses within 20 miles of Holy Island. A superb base for exploring all that the region has to offer.
