"Lovely cottage in a nice setting with shops nearby for supplies."
Everything you need is there and the beds are really comfortable. It's also a good base to then explore the area as it is close to Bamburgh, Alnwick and Lindisfarne to name a few places. The whole family really liked it there and we will be back again for another holiday. Recommended.
"1. Awful location - a bit of a dump where cottage is!"
2. Poor reception when we reached the cottage - very cold, unable to get heating on as owner apparently remotely controls ‘on’/‘off’ status!!! 3. Would not recommend for dog-owners - no garden and few walking areas nearby.
"This is a lovely little cottage."
The owner has thought of everything.
"Excellent cottage and location."
Well catered for toddler and dog! Lovely stay
"The cottage is beautiful, very clean and well equipped."
The location is close to essential outlets for shopping, food and laundry. Very well positioned to explore both North and South Northumbria with the main attractions all within a half hours drive of the cottage We had everything we needed for our weeks stay in Chillingham Cottage and it is a credit to the owner. The only negative comment is the proximity to the aviary next door. The "dawn chorus" is very loud and windows had to be closed at night to try and avoid being woken up at 05:30 each morning.
"The cottage was clean, comfortable and had fantastic access to the local amenities such as the Co-op and the Chippy."
It was in a brilliant position to access the sites like Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castle, even for a pop over the border into Scotland. I would highly recommend this cottage, and will definitely be revisiting it myself in the future.
"We had a wonderful week at Chillingham Cottage."
The cottage was clean and comfortable with everything needed for a home from home and the welcome bottle of Prosecco and scones from the village café were a lovely touch. The patio by the stream was a lovely place to sit and relax with a glass of something cold after a days walking. Belford is an ideal base from which to explore the beautiful coast and countryside of Northumberland and the Scottish borders We will definitely be back
"Excellent location, the charm of an old cottage yet furnished with all the modern amenities you could wish for."
Good parking, close to shops yet surrounded by stunning countryside. Very obliging hosts who go the extra mile.
"The cottage is lovely and in a very good location if wanting to visit places like Bamburgh and Seahouses."
The stream out back is a lovely feature. It is worth noting that the complex has a lot of birds! Chickens, parrots, geese etc- which is lovely to see but not so much when they wake you up at 5am! We enjoyed our stay but the early morning wake up calls not so much.
"The cottage was extremely clean and comfortable, well equipped and very pleasant."
The bed was particularly comfortable. The bottle of Prosecco was a nice extra touch too. The Cottages’s location in Belford is ideal for visiting the many sights on offer and the proximity of a good Co op shop was an added bonus. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage.
"We were the 1st to stay at Chillingham after lockdown and we were so glad that we decided to choose a cottage rather than a caravan; We have been to Northumberland a number of times before but always on campsites, as we don't use any of the facilities and just like to get out and about this suited us much better."
The cottage is so cosy and had everything we needed for a great holiday, we loved having the wood burner as the nights were still very chilly. The Co-op is 2 minutes walk and the chippy the same distance for those evenings you want to treat yourself. It was great to have somewhere we could really relax at the end of the day and it's lovely to have the stream right behind the cottage with seating to have a nice drink, it gets the sun right until late evening. It has a real farm feel to it with the ducks, geese, turkey and various other birds and our son loved watching them. Belford is ideally situated for everything you want to see and has a couple of playgrounds, a nice farm shop and a couple of pubs, unfortunately we didn't get to experience these due to restrictions only just being lifted. All in all a fantastic stay, we would definitely choose this in future as it has everything we need in an accommodation.
"Lovely cottage very nice environment very dog friendly."
Easy to get around very central places to vist the beach only a few minutes away. Very comfortable inside everything you need. Would recommend this cottage.
"Well furnished Cottage and an extremely comfortable bed."
"We had a lovely holiday holiday at Chillingham Cottage, facilities were great and it is well located to explore both the wonderful Northumberland coast and the Cheviots."
The kids especially enjoyed feeding the ducks and we were happy letting them explore the immediate area as is felt very safe and friendly.
"A very comfortable cottage in a lovely location."
Convenient for all the places we wanted to visit. The owner was very helpful and contacted us before we arrived to make sure we knew that he was available should we need him, which was a first for us and much appreciated. We would recommend Chillingham Cottage and would love to return.
Quiet yet 5 mins to shop, pubs and fish and chips. Close to A1, so easy access to all towns and villages we wanted to visit.
"Very comfy cottage with every thing you need close to shops and pub chippy ..."
Very comfy cottage with every thing you need close to shops and pub chippy almost next door easy to explore the coast
"The cottage was OK and was well equipped."
The only comment I would make is that it could do with a proper shower otherwise everything was acceptable.
"Very pleasant and comfortable small cottage."
No garden, but a small yard with a picnic table, next to the stream. Plenty of parking nearby. Good WIFI/Internet. Bathroom has bath but no real shower, which was was the only thing we at all missed. Interesting collection of fowl (muscovy ducks, turkeys, etc.) plus rabbits wandering around outside, which we enjoyed. Belford itself is a very good base for North Northumberland - large enough to have a good supermarket (within easy walking distance of the cottage) and a few places to eat and drink, but not large enough to be noisy, and only a couple of minutes drive from the A1. All in all, a very good stay.
