"We needed to call for assistance with regard to lighting, one non-working section of which was known about and apparently under order."
The help came promptly, and sortrd what he could apprropriately. We were quite surprised at the paucity of the amount of toilet paper provided for 6 adults and 2 small people. Whilst we didn’t mind having to buy more, needing to get it on our second day there felt somewhat mean, in an otherwise reasonably well-equipped & furnished place. Loved the location, the beaches the views, the area, the food and the Black Swan cocktails! FYI, I’m afraid one of the flutes got broken, and the double-bedded room on the middle floor has a wonky knob on one of the wardrobe doors which needs fixing. For other users- you need to be reasonably fit and agile to be comfortable using the stairs: at 85 I still am, but was glad of my inhaler!!

"Farne Lookout is a wonderful property and we had a great family holiday in the home."
The spiral staircase adds to intrigue of the property, but as it states in the documentation, this property may be problematic to some families. Fortunately, it did not effect our stay. Parking provision for 1 or 2 cars is a major bonus. The property is very clean and very comfortable, particularly the bedding and towels. I’ve marked this down, however, as the pigeons “TRAPPED and NESTING” within the purpose built net to deter pigeons, resulted in outside the property being “messy/unclean”, whilst the constant pigeon noise made it uncomfortable to get a good night’s sleep especially in the lower ground bedrooms. We arrived unfortunately to a flood within the kitchen/lounge area, thus maintenance is also down. Someone had unfortunately switched off the Fridge/Freezer at the wall. There were 3 ice cube bags which had melted and emptied and it took at least 4 towels to collect the subsequent water and dry out the fridge. It could have been worse, but the carpet had soaked up a considerable amount of water. The carpet was still wet as we left, 7 days later. I would recommend a note/sticker be placed over the relevant plug. On two occasions, the electricity fused which was easy to fix, (I found the fuse box and switched it all on again). I believe this was linked to the tumble dryer when the water container got full and caused a short within its plug. Again, some info and instructions will easily resolve the issue. On a maintenance upside, when a fire alarm started to constantly beeb, maintenance replaced the battery within a couple of hours. THANKYOU! Overall, the above hiccups did not spoil our holiday and I would recommend Farne Lookout to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat within bustling town.

"Position of the property is excellent, close to amenities and view of harbour."
The property itself is a little tired and could do with a bit of modernisation. We were a part of 8 adults, apart from the large upstairs bedroom we found the bedrooms to be small, beds were comfortable though and very nice bedding and towels. I think this property is ideal for people with children.

"This was one of the nicest stays we have had!"
The property was pristine and the location, view and layout of the property were spectacular.

"Had a great 2 week stay."
View from balcony was awesome. Definitely be back at some point in future.

"This is the second time we have chosen to stay at the Farne Lookout and it was perfect."
The view of the harbour and north sea from the bedrooms and balcony are absolutely stunning. The cottage itself is charming with plenty of space for a large family. The extra touches such as buckets and spades, games and books are a great feature and my children enjoyed using them. The games room is a fantastic feature with new pool cues for the pool table and a table football machine. Our children are aged 11 to 15 so this was a perfect, well used room during our stay. This property is perfect and I wish it was ours full time!
-
"This is a fabulous property for a family group."
Plenty of room and great facilities for everyone in our party - 3 children aged 11 and 2 x 13 year olds with mum and dad and grandparents. Only negative comment I have were the weeds in the front patio and at the gateway entrance.
-
"Lovely property in the perfect location for Seahouses with many an evening sat out on the balcony overlooking the port."
Plenty of room and dog friendly as well as a couple of parking places which makes a difference. The place itself it great - a little tired but well cleaned and ready for your to drop you bags and head out. The double bed on the top floor for me was a little hard. The TV in the upstairs bedroom did not work and to be honest would be better either removing or replacing. The place could also do with a better information book on recycling, places to visit, takeaway menus etc. Would definitely stay again.

"A very well equipped holiday in the most spectacular location."
We had an amazing holiday, taking us back to childhood holidays spent in Seahouses. Blessed with wonderful weather too. Lots of pubs and eateries in the village Bin buddy is a great idea - no having to remember to put bins out. Only comment would be on how steep the spiral staircases are, but this is mentioned in the literature and photos. Seemed even steeper than they appeared in photos, but this does not detract from how perfect the house and location are! Lots of seagull/pidgeon poo on outside of kitchen windows, but that is to be expected.
-
"Great property in a fab location."
We loved the view. Be useful to have two keys and more information about recycling. The games room is great. Some new pool cues would be good. We would definitely stay again.
-
"Excellent house, with all the amenities."
Great location& views over the harbour.
-
"We left a long list of defects including faulty dishwasher, shower, TV, many missing light bulbs, inadequate instructions for rubbish collection (not picked up) and sundry other minor issues."
In summary, not the standard we expected from Sykes.
Very sorry to hear you had these issues during your stay - we aim to maintain high standards at all times and have asked NCCC who manage the property to attend to this. Property Owner

"What a wonderful cottage!"
Great views of Seahouses harbours from the balcony and coastal view rooms. We are a family of 8, including 4 teenage girls sp the size of this cottage was perfect for us, everyone had their own space and there was 3 bathrooms which was perfect for us. We absolutely adored the character of the cottage, especially the spiral stair case, the stone walls and beams. There was plenty of equipment to use in the kitchen for cooking which was great and also the kids loved the games room, even though the pool cues need updating. We loved this cottage so much we have already booked it for next year!
-
"Excellent position and very well equipped."
Would definitely book it again.

"Farne Lookout is nothing short of fantastic!"
The house is well furnished fab kitchen beautiful bedrooms and a balcony from where we were entertained throughout the week the views across harbour the boats the sky I could on…… the area in and around Seahouses is fantastic and we spent days at castles forts islands and villages Along this breathtaking coast, there is lots to see and do. The welcome bottle of wine was a nice touch. We would definitely return,

"We have just returned from the most amazing holiday in a beautiful location."
The accommodation far exceeded our expectations, with everything we could possibly need - exactly as listed in the description. Everywhere was to a very high standard of cleanliness, and we quickly felt welcomed and at home, especially when Nicki visited next morning. The welcome gift of wine and savoury crisps was also greatly appreciated! Farne Lookout is so conveniently situated for visiting the local shops, pubs and restaurants on foot as well as exploring longer walks along the England Coastal walk. I was surprised at how much there is to do in Seahouses for all ages including the boat trip out to the Farne Islands to see the Puffins and other seabirds as well as Grey Seals. On our trip we were also lucky enough to see dolphins on the returning journey. What makes this accommodation so special is that you can see the tourist and fishing boats going in and out of the busy little harbour from the balcony in the living area. Thank you so much Nicki and the housekeeping team. We would love to return one day.
We are so glad you had a wonderful stay and look forward to welcoming you back soon Property Owner

"We have today returned from our very first trip to Northumberland, where we stayed in the Farne Lookout."
We honestly couldn’t be happier, we have enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked for next new year. We arrived late so it was dark on arrival and the directions take you to the rear of the property, unfortunately the keysafe is at the front of the property so we had to find our way around the other side in the dark, but once we got the keys and got inside, we were immediately impressed. The welcome pack was a lovely touch and very much appreciated after our long drive. The kitchen is very well equipped, the only thing missing that we would’ve used is pint glasses, but this wasn’t a major issue. The living area is very homely, lots of seating to enable everyone to appreciate the spectacular views and lovely decor with the stone wall feature. The balcony overlooking the harbour was a wonderful place to sit with a cup of tea in the mornings, listening to the waves and watching the world go by. The master bedroom also with spectacular views, was very comfortable and plenty of storage space. The quirky “Captain” and “first mate” seats were a lovely touch. The bed was incredibly comfortable! The en-suite was spacious and clean. We did have an issue with a loose spotlight fitting but reported this and a couple of other issues straight away. The floor with the other bedrooms on also had lovely views out to sea from one bedroom and the landing area, the other two bedrooms overlooked the below ground yard which unfortunately was littered with pigeon faeces and quite smelly if the windows were opened, along with the smelly things making noise through the night, however, this is no fault of the owner, there’s not much that can be done about the pesky pigeons! There is netting erected but they seem to have managed to get beneath it, and the neighbours have taken no action so their side is very dirty. The bathroom on this floor is spacious and clean, however with glass block wall provides little privacy, so a teenage girl sharing the bathroom with her male brothers didn’t feel very comfortable using it, so opted to use our en-suite instead. The lower ground floor where the games room & utility room are was very cold. The pictures showed a plug in radiator, however this wasn’t there when we arrived so we had to make sure the doors were closed in the evenings to prevent the cold spreading throughout the house. However, we did totally underestimate the oil heating, and had to turn the thermostats down on the upper floors as it got incredibly hot before we did this. The utility room was very well equipped and as a family with 4 children - was very well used throughout our stay! The games room was a massive hit with the teenagers, although we did have to report a few issues with the snooker table (loose pockets, stains and broken cues). The cues weren’t an issue as they took their own. The firework display on NYE was spectacular. We have visited Disneyworld Florida and all of us said the seahouses display blinded Florida! It was absolutely amazing. All in all, we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have already booked again for new year 24/25. We look forward to visiting again.

"We enjoyed a 4 night stay in Farne Lookout in October."
(We are 4 women in our 60s). The beds were very comfortable and the towels and linen were of good quality. The kitchen was well equipped and the views were fantastic. The spiral staircases took a bit of getting used to and wouldn’t be suitable for young children or less mobile guests. The local area was great for long walks, pubs and local shops. However, we were disappointed in the lack of information in the cottage. Not even a guest book to read other visitors’ recommendations. Also, the levels of litter and weeds in the outdoor space by the second floor entrance were a bit at odds with the description and the photos. The bin store needs maintenance and the pigeons on the property nextdoor are causing noise and dirt nuisance. Overall this is a nice place to spend a few days in an attractive part of the world.

"This property is in the perfect position to spend some time at seahouses."
The bedding and beds were all spot on but one of the twin rooms is extremely small and claustrophobic ..I am pleased we only stayed for 2 nights. On the face of it , it looks clean however move down to the bottom staircase and there is alot dust, spiders and cobwebs so has clearly been missed for cleaning for a along time. As others have said it is quite dated and could do with a bit of a refurb. There was also confusion with the stripping of beds as nothing mentioned in the welcome pack at the property but a email was received on our second day of the stay informing us to they were to be stripped . Sadly I did not have access to this email until I returned home so I can only apologise for some of the beds not being stripped. All in all we had a lovely stay and the views and position are just perfect. Many thanks

"We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful house and location."
We soon got used to the spiral staircase. There were a couple of things broken when we arrived and we notified the relevant people. There was only one damaged pool queue though and that was the only thing that caused a bit of a problem.
-
"The apartment is really good, with lots of thoughtful extras such as indoor and beach toys for the children."
It works well for eight guests, with enough dining chairs and seating in the lounge area. A fridge/freezer and a built-in under-counter fridge were welcome for the extra space needed with a large family. We love the location, so close to the small harbour beach and the shops. Would be worth mentioning in the description about the wooden stair gates that are available, although there’s no barrier to the staircase next to the play area on the middle landing. We took an opening stair gate with us. Also, would have been helpful to know about the upstairs bedroom being open plan to the stairs. The wheelie bins need to be dragged up a few steps to the road for them to be emptied. This might be difficult for some guests, as would the spiral staircases between the floors.
-
"Please sharpen some knives!"
The information regarding rubbish could be improved- eg where to find bottle banks, opening days of waste centre. We were physically unable to haul overfill bin up steps. Otherwise it was delightful! Ps : Is there any possibility of forwarding a pillow left in main bedroom?
-
"Fantastic property overlooking the harbour."
Spent hours watching the world go by. Great social space. Would go back again.
-
"Fantastic location, amazing views."
Loved watching all the harbour activities from the balcony. Some great restaurants and cafe within very short walking distance. Walked to Beadnell and Bamburgh along the beautiful beaches. The property is lovely, and was spotlessly clean, however, there were a few small maintenance issues which I did report back at the start of our stay relating to the kettle, cold water tap, small fridge and TV in the top floor bedroom. Also, when I used the hairdryer in the top floor bedroom it kept stopping and starting. Nothing major, just some small issues which can easily be sorted and hopefully have been for the next holiday makers.

"A lovely short break for 8 of us."
Love this part of the world and the cottage is in a fantastic location overlooking the harbour. Would definitely return.
-
"We broke a door key in error - 10 mins later a replacement arrived."
That says it all !Very happy with the place - just wish we didn't have to go home !
-
"We had a brilliant week."
Views were beautiful house had everything we needed. Games room was freezing so maybe a heater in there would be perfect. Didn’t bother the kids but too cold for us adults. 2 mins from beach, shops and pubs. Excellent location.
-
"More cleaning equipment please, ie always for cleaning work surfaces, sponges etc."
Otherwise a lovely cottage, we very much enjoyed our stay ♥️

"Farne lookout was just a lovely place to stay very cosy well equipped kitchen ..."
Farne lookout was just a lovely place to stay very cosy well equipped kitchen beautiful views would definitely stay again
-
"We had a lovely midweek stay, the quality of the sheets and towels were good and the house was well stocked with nice furnishings."
The only thing we missed was an ice cube tray in the freezer! (A second container/bin in the kitchen for paper/plastic recycling would have been helpful but not essential as you could take them out to the recycle bin in the bin shed) We would certainly stay again. Being out of season we could park both cars outside the door you enter by but suspect in high season you would have to park one car outside the garage/playroom on the lower street. There were a few areas of paintwork that could do with a retouch - particularly in the family bathroom around the window but everywhere was clean.
-
"Great few days in a wonderful property."
Comfortable, clean and well equipped. A real home away from home. Thank you.

"Sometimes when you see a photo of properties they aren't the same in real life and you are disappointed, not with this property."
It was stunning, lovely and warm when we opened the door! Decor was beautiful, very tasteful and relaxing. Kitchen was well equipped we wanted for nothing and the view over the harbour was outstanding, it made for a very relaxing stay.

"Fantastic property overlooking the harbour and the Farne Islands, I watched the view for hours and the TV was hardly switched on!"
Would probably not take toddlers or elderly relatives as stairs steep and spiral. Easy access onto second floor (kitchen/lounge). Parking good. Kids loved the games room. Lots to do on doorstep from sandy beaches and rocks to explore. Easy drive to places like Bamburgh, Craster, and Alnwick.
-
