  • "The building works next door had an impact on our comfort and relaxation."

The beds were uncomfortable. With new mattresses and completion of building works feedback would have been more positive.

  • "First impression was wow!"

The living and dining area open spaced and plenty of light. Kitchen well equipped. Bedrooms spacious, plenty of storage in main bedroom. Toilet, shower room bit small and had a step. Back yard private and sun trap could sit outside. Everything we needed was there. The builders were next door could be heard in the main bedroom when working. However, we did manage to enjoy our holiday, playing board games and going out. Spoke to property owner on occasions and she was very helpful and polite. Thank you

  • "The property was really clean tidy and comfortable, we couldn't of asked for more, everything needed was there."

Fully equipped kitchen, comfy sofas etc. Had a thoroughly lovely stay. Thanks.

Oh my gosh Gary Thank you so much for your positive review, it means a lot to us. We try so hard to present the cottage in a way we ourselves would expect. So happy you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "If more than one couple no privacy as glass doors throughout."

Bedrooms and bathroom. If the other bedroom light is on and you’re trying to sleep no chance. Unlucky for us the mattresses were really soft but you can’t cater for everyone. Once everyone gets together and sorts out the front garden it will be lovely. At moment full of weeds. Those are the negatives. The cottage is well equipped and lovely sitting out the back. Best place we have been to with storage and equipement in the kitchen in a long time. Very convenient if visiting Alton towers.

Many thanks for your feedback Mrs Graham. Leaving your review in my visitors book enabled us to take immediate action between a swop over with new guests arriving within 4 hours. We installed blind in the small bathroom and will do the same on the bedroom doors as soon as the current guests leave. The glass doors, as you pointed out were never an issue to us when we lived there for years as a family. A good point you have now raised that we unfortunately overlooked. The garden as you mentioned is work in progress and we are doing our best to strim and mow between guests. The mature shrubs have been there for many years the Box is kept trimmed and there is a beautiful peony about to burst into flower. Thankyou again and we can assure you we will continue to be proactive when we are presented with constructive criticism. We are pleased you enjoyed the location. Kind regards Amanda Property Owner

  • "Was very concerned by the first review of this property."

Our experience was totally the opposite. First impression was ‘wow!’. Exceptionally comfortable, everything we needed was there and more. We could find no fault whatever. Very well placed for relatives, eating out and Uttoxeter races. Would thoroughly recommend and hope to return

Thankyou so much for your feedback. I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay. The cottage was a family home for many years. We do try to make sure our guests all have a comfortable stay and present the cottage in a way that we too would appreciate when we go on holiday. Thank you Kind regards Amanda Property Owner

  • "We realise now why there was no reviews."

Negative feedback is not uploaded. This property is a serious incident waiting to happen if it hasn't already and clearly maintained on a budget. No privacy curtains or blinds in dining area. No warning of unlevel kitchen floor. Sofa very uncomfortable. Kitchen units not the best. Shower room is high risk of a serious fall issue. Not made clear it is raised and nothing to hold on to if visitors went and slipped. The whole unit would fall down. Master bedroom has real issues with the toilet, a sign stating how to flush it speaks for itself. It did not flush as stated without pumping the button. You also had to sit back on the toilet with the lid down to try and flush it. Anyone with rheumatoid or loss of strength will struggle. We used one toilet instead of two we paid for. Knob handles in bathroom caused me to not be able to open the door and had to wait for the other party member to open it. This could be a serious issue if a child was left wandering around the home alone with a parent locked in the bathroom. These should be turn handles. Overall this property is not as described and a serious risk to public health and safety. I think the owner should offer us a percentage refund.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We apologise for any inconvenience you experienced. Since opening our Cottage in November 2023 and ironing out a few snags, we have successfully hosted 8 previous bookings and you are the first guest to leave us feedback. We have personally met guests who have been most complimentary about the Cottage. We take all customer reviews seriously and strive to provide the best experience possible, had we been made aware of any concerns during your stay we would have worked to resolve them for you. We are committed to continuously improving our services; your feedback is invaluable. Property Owner

About the location

Alton Towers 5 miles; Uttoxeter 5 miles; Ashbourne 10 miles.

A pretty little village, Rocester lies on the Derbyshire and Staffordshire border, located on a triangle of land between the River Churnet and River Dove. The site of a Roman fort exists today and the village was also mentioned in the Domesday Book. Rocester is home to the famous JCB factory, and the company has landscaped the surrounding area to provide some wonderful walks with some interesting sculptures around the site and the nearby parkland. Most significant of these is The Fossor, which is made entirely of digger parts and is a powerful representation of JCB. Rocester is halfway along the Staffordshire Way which runs the length of Staffordshire and is also at the start of the Limestone Way which goes to Matlock. Close to Rocester is the lovely market town of Ashbourne, and just a short drive away is Alton Towers, with fun for all the family. Explore either the Staffordshire or Derbyshire part of the Peak District National Park with historic houses, market towns, moorland, rolling hills and valleys, all easily accessible from Rocester.
