  • "We had a wonderful week at Derry cottage, and it was lovely to meet Barry who made sure that we had everything we needed."

The cottage was in a fabulous position, lots of lovely walking around and the cottage had everything we needed for the week. If there’s anything at all we would have added it would’ve been a DVD player for when we crashed out in the evenings! However, we came prepared with boardgames, so this was not a big issue! Thank you for a lovely week – we were lucky with the weather too!

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Derry Cottage."

The garden was ideal for the dog. The facilities were good and the kitchen dining area is a lovely open plan area. The cottage was a bit cold when we arrived but soon heated up with the central heating. One small suggestion is to have more comfortable seating in the small room. It is a good base to explore Pembrokeshire.

  • "A lot of work needed on the cottage, cobwebs everywhere, black widow in the tv cabinet, very strong smell of oil from the heating system, the smell was on our coats that were hung in the hallway, it needs an engineer."

The double bed upstairs is extremely hard it was painful, spent the night tossing and turning. 2 back door and bathroom handles were stiff to use...lined curtains in the windows needed, head height for male use of toilet upstairs limited. Outside light didn't work...skirting boards need painting tools in the fireplace...everything heard between the bedrooms...front porch was damp, with plants growing dirty.

Thank you for your feedback. In response: This is a very old listed cottage in the middle of the countryside. Unfortuntaly, despite cleaning on a weekly basis, the spiders return each night and weave their webs. Black Widow spiders are not native to Wales and the local ones will do you no harm! The upstairs bathroom has a sloped roof hence head height is slightly reduced, however, the downstairs toilet has no such issues. The heating system has been recently serviced but we are getting a further inspection this week to ensure that everything is safe. Mattress comfort is individual and we cannot offer a bespoke mattress service. No one has offered any complaint before but we will indeed take your comment on board and look at replacing the mattress should we deam this necessary. The back door handle is new and slightly stiff, however it is perfectly usable. Unfortunatly, the tools in the fireplace seem to have disappeared and this had not been noticed by our cleaner. It will be rectified. The porch is not damp. This entrance is not used anyway as access is via the side door next to the driveway. A contact number for the owners is available to use throughout your stay and any problems should be aired at the time and then they can be rectified in a timely manner. We were not alerted to any concerns until after your stay. Usually Barry would come and see any guests to ensure they have all they need but he had a hip replacement on the week of your stay. We would urge all future holiday makers to contact us during their stay should they encounter any problems or have any queries. This information has always been available on a laminated sheet in the kitchen. Regards, Barry and Jennifer Edmonds. Property Owner

It was lovely and clean, cosy and comfortable. It's location is perfect to visit the area and beaches. Our two dogs loved the big garden and couldn't wait to explore every time we returned from a day out. We intend staying there again in the new year.

  • "The pictures of Derry Cottage on Sykes Website do not do it justice, what a wonderful place to stay!"

We had such a lovely time and didn’t want to leave. Barry the owner popped over to say hello and it was lovely to meet him. On arrival there were lovely fresh flowers picked on the large dining table, and also some Welsh cakes that had been put there for us. The cottage is very cosy, with lots of space to run around in the garden, we had a walk in the fields that surround the cottage which was great. So many places to visit that aren’t too far away! We went to North Beach (great if you have kids!) Narbeth Village has some lovely shops and eateries, we took a ride on the steam train, and also went to Folly Farm. Had some relaxing days at the cottage and Barry very kindly brought over two sun loungers for us. Cottage is so peaceful, no neighbours and all you can hear are the birds, sheep and the stream. We will absolutely be back! Thank you for a wonderful relaxing and fun time.

  • "What a lovely place to stay."

So quiet with only birds to see and hear. Beautiful garden and we had the unexpected pleasant surprise of the use of the 4 acre field right next door for our fur babies. There were a few 8 legged visitors in various rooms but I suppose to be expected in a building that old. Light above mirror in top bathroom was not working and I must mention that the WiFi was not very good. Kept dropping off. Overall a very peaceful holiday.

  • "Once we arrived and settled in we noticed dog hair all over the ground floor and dog pooh in various lectins in the garden which was completely unsuitable especially with children that were staying."

The kitchen dish cloth was dirty, the microwaves was covered in left over curry, and the kitchen floor also dirty from the previous people who stayed. The vacum cleaner smelt of wet dog when in use and lingered in the property after being used. The property itself was beautiful and in a great location, but the cleanliness was completely unsatisfactory, especially with children and because of this we left after 2x nights.

  • "Truly beautiful listed cottage but with lovely modern kitchen and shower with panoramic views of the beautiful garden."

It is well equipped and lovely and clean. The owner dropped by on the Sunday to check all was OK and was lovely to talk to. Only gripe is the double bed was very firm and we have had orthopaedic mattress in the past... Not for someone who likes a medium mattress. We ended up swapping to the twin room which was better, maybe a mattress topper would help. The velux window in the upstairs bedroom needs a blind as the the light came in at dawn but was rectified with a towel. The slight niggles did not take away from this lovely cottage. We were even allowed to use the field next to it to exercise our dogs which they loved. Would really recommend this cottage to others

  • "A very nice cottage, but could do better as they said in school."

My wife is vegetarian and refused to use the stained worn frying pan so I went into Carmarthen to buy one for use during our stay. Hob area was dark due to inappropriate lighting. The log burner! Very nice but no tools were provided to stoke or clean the hearth, and I had to repair the cafetierre before we could use it, and all the cleaning tools were thrown in an untidy jumble under the stairs. However, we did enjoy our stay and I hope my comments may improve the experience for other stayers at this delightful cottage.
