  • "Booked foxglove cottage in Pembrokeshire."

Alarm bells should have rang when the owner said the tumble dryer wasn’t working and blamed the people before us which I found a bit bizarre as they may not have even used it. The tumble dryer was not repaired The outside lighting was poor and the main light not working plus spent an hour trying to get the heating working. The lanes to and from the cottage are an absolute nightmare especially with the biblical weather flooding the roads making them impassable. With storm Cieran coming in we decided to come back on the Wednesday night due to most roads flooded. We informed the owners we were leaving early so they could organise repairs to tumble dryer etc and left the cottage as we found it only to get charged for a mark on a rug which we did not do. In the process of challenging this and so annoyed and Sykes no help at all so don’t rely on them. We are putting it down to being courteous and letting them have more time to inspect the cottage rather than a few hours on a Saturday as we didn’t notice it - we put all the recycle bins out turned the heating off made sure everything was spic and span and left one light on for safety as leaving it unoccupied. They took money without consent or comms and when we challenged this they simply say go to citizens advice. My bank is now taking this on as we treated the property with the highest regard and followed all the rules and so disappointed and spoilt a lovely time. The cottage itself is lovely and garden great but the lanes are a nightmare - 45-50 mins drive to coast and sat nav takes you through the lanes so avoid this stay in main roads as many lanes were flooded and had to do 6 point turns to turn round. I would not recommend this property simply because the owner blamed us for something we did not do with no conversations and took money from my bank account. Be careful with this one and check everything before you settle in as we didn’t even notice a small mark on the rug which we did not do. They believed the dogs marked the rug when we did not let them upstairs - this mark was not done by us and the owners blamed us for something that had already been done Date of experience: 03 November 2023

  • "Very nice cottage which was well equipped."

The welcome gifts were much appreciated, thank you. The cottage was a good base to visit lots of lovely places. Our favourite was Stackpole Quay, leading to Barafundle Bay, which was truly lovely. There is a decent co-op in Whitland and a farm shop which has some lovely produce. The only slight downside for us was that the garden wasn't secure enough for our dog but that was more to do with the fact that he's still quite young and not trained as well as he could be. The garden was large though and there was plenty of room to park. All in all a very pleasant holiday.

  • "The cottage was clean, well equipped and very spacious with a large garden."

The location of the cottage was peaceful and well placed for visiting the popular attractions. However these can only be reached by first driving through some very narrow lanes, most barely more than one car width, which spoiled our experience somewhat. As much as we enjoyed the cottage this would put us off returning.

The owners provided a great welcome pack too. Weather largely prevented use of outdoor space sadly, but there are lovely views from the back of the property. Would definitely consider staying here again. Possibly the best Sykes property we’ve stayed in and we’ve stayed in quite a few!

. we fell in love with the cottage from the pictures and the first visit confirmed the reason why. This is by far the best place we have ever stayed in. The owners are fantastic and they go above and beyond to make everything absolutely perfect. The cottage is close to so many beautiful spots in wales, Saundersfoot, Tenby, Oakwood, folly farm, heatherton and so many more places. But the cottage for us is a place of peace and relaxation, we just unpack sit back eat and relax it really is home from home. There is nothing that’s not there for the perfect stay, they both have thought of every single detail and more. The place is just magical and I mean that, it has a charm and is just so comfortable… this is my favourite cottage by a million miles. If you’re thinking of booking and not sure please take my word for it, it’s worth every single penny, and more.. we can’t wait for the next visit.. thanks for having us and thanks for making not only ours but everyone’s stay just so beautiful and perfect .. xx

  • "This property was absolutely fantastic, I can’t even begin to explain how amazing it was there."

From the moment we stepped foot into foxglove cottage. We fell in love with it. The cottage was absolutely immaculate. There wasn’t an item out of place. It was one of the cleanest places I have ever had the pleasure of staying in in my entire life. It was absolutely beautiful and it is an absolute credit to Frankie and Matthew, who take so much pride in the place, you can tell how much they love it there. The property literally had everything you needed. We never left the property for the whole week. It was absolutely perfect for cosy days and nights in. There were books available for reading games available for playing TV for the children DVDs colouring books and so much more. The grounds themselves were fantastic for the dogs. It was all secluded and locked in so the dogs could be let off the lead and had the freedom of the whole garden and the view off of the grounds into the valley was absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed several home-cooked meals in the beautiful kitchen of foxgloves. It had everything I needed in order to prepare and dish up amazing food. We were so mesmerised by the property. There were little surprises around every corner. The little touches that Frankie and Matthew had added to the cottage to make sure everybody’s needs are met were just unbelievable. Things I would never even have thought of myself when I’ve been at other properties but Frankie and Mathew had thought of everything for everybody. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so welcome in a property before as soon as we stepped foot in there it felt like home from home. Everything was so clean and crisp. The beds are absolutely spectacularly comfortable. I slept like a baby for the whole seven days… without giving too much away because obviously it’s a joy to be able to go to Foxglove and discover all the little hidden gems that Matthew and Frankie have left there, but my favourite had to be the photo album of the foxglove cottage being renovated, I sat one night, just looking through the pictures and it really felt like they took you on the journey that they went on to make the property as beautiful as it is. I can’t recommend this property enough and we will 100% be returning again whether that be for a few days or a few weeks at a time now I know foxglove cottage is nestled away in Whitland Frankie and Matthew won’t be able to get rid of us. If you’ve seen the property and you’re contemplating booking you won’t be disappointed. Fantastic..

Foxglove had everything and more you could want and need during our stay. Very clean and nicely furnished. Thankyou for the wonderful gifts left for us/the children and the doggy by Mathew and frankie. Great secure garden for our dog but, note he was only allowed down stairs, but fully appreciate that other guests staying my not have dogs and not all dog owners allow their fur babies full access to all areas, not an issue for us as it was clearly stated in the details when booking. We will definitely book again.

So peaceful and quiet. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed the owners had thought of everything even games and films for rainy days. There are beautiful beaches within 20 minutes drive and lots of lovely places to eat out that were equally close by no pubs in walking distance though. Please check times for serving food though as most places we found has set times to serve food. The small co op store in Whitland has everything we needed the nearest M&S and Morrisons were about half an hour away in Carmarthen. The vineyard opposite the cottage is well worth a visit Andy is really helpful with wine information. When we booked we thought we were going to a completely dog friendly cottage but when we arrived with our 2 dogs we were surprised at the restrictions that had not been listed. We allow our dogs upstairs although this is not everyones choice it is ours and our options were keeping them downstairs or in the large well built kennel if we weren’t downstairs with them. However we shared this feedback with the owners yesterday and have noted a change to the details about the cottage today so brilliant speedy response noted. Would recommend the cottage if you have no dogs or don’t allow them upstairs sadly this will stop us rebooking but that’s the only reason would love to return to foxglove cottage otherwise. Big thank you for the lovely wine flowers and chocolates and for the doggy treats. The Turners

) The house was immaculate, had everything we needed and the little extra treats for us as parents (wine, milk and Welsh cakes ), our boys (lollies and choc) and the dogs (treats and a tennis ball) were very well received and appreciated. As owners of 2 dogs, we are often given the old, tired lodge, or allowed to rent a house with lower standards. It was a refreshing change to have such a beautiful property and have our furry companions with us. There is loads to do in the local area; this was probably one of the best holidays we’ve had in the UK and we would definitely recommend it. It’s light, airy and spacious enough for a family of 5. It’s set in a small cluster of 4 or 5 houses about 2 miles from Whitland. It is a great base in which to explore this amazing area of Wales. The kitchen has a washer, drier, dishwasher, large fridge freezer and even an Alexa. We had wine, milk, chocolates and biscuits left by the owners. The lounge is large with ample sofas, a few games and lovely homely touches. The bonus of this house is a downstairs toilet too! There is also a large garden, outdoor seating areas and twinkly lights at night. Upstairs there are 2 beautiful bedrooms, with ample storage, hairdrier and even a range of spare toiletries (with an honesty box). The owners really have thought of everything!
