"My wife and I found Bumble Cottge to just right for the two of us and we had a great time there, helped by the superb late summer weather we experienced."
The cottage was comfortable, clean and with all necessary equipment and facilities. Darley is situated in the heart of Nidderdale with plenty to see and visit, (including Fountains Abbey) and many beautiful walks (including some from the doorstep) in the Nidd valley no more than a dozen miles away. On arrival it seemed a little confusing where to park given the bus stop outside the property but the owner helpfully clarified the arrangements. We found the porch at the front extremely helpful not only to keep our walking gear, but as it is a sun trap, it enabled washing to dry in double quick time. The shop in the village was a bonus, including the post office counter there. Nidderdale was the home my wife's ancestors for several centuries until about 150 years ago, with many of them living and working in Darley, which meant we were able to walk from the cottage to see where they had lived and worked all those years ago. All in all, a great place to stay and visit.

"A lovely cottage with all essential facilities in a beautiful part of Yorkshire"
-
"A wonderful, cosy cottage in a lovely area providing a perfect base for exploring the wider area."
-
"Very small but perfect size for 2 and a dog, fantastic walks down the river and opposite side takes you up through the woods onto the hills with fantastic views on a clear day."
Met the owner as we were leaving whom was lovely. Village itself was so lovely and peaceful, after about 19:30 hardly any traffic and very quiet, everyone did say hello. The instructions asked us to park our car to the left looking out of the porch which we did, then a neighbour asked us to move it so just park outside, didn't see anyone needing to use the bus stop while we were there.

"The cottage was very clean and light."
Bathroom was small, showerroom and sink. Overall we had a pleasant stay here for a week and a good base for the beautyful surroundings. A lot of folders were to be found in the cottage.
-
"Enjoyed our stay in the Yorkshire dales, Bumble cottage is very comfortable and was spotlessly clean on arrival."
An ideal area for walkers and dog walking.
-
"Gorgeous cottage (this was our second stay)."
Comfy, warm, well equipped and well placed for a stay any time of year.
-
"The cottage was spotlessly clean and quite comfortable."
All the necessary utensils etc were there. The beds were very comfortable. The only drawback was the bathroom very small, also a bathmat would be helpful
-
"We felt the decor and furnishings were a little tired."
The bathroom is miniscule, no heating, no bathmat and nowhere to hang towels. No rear garden, only sitting out area at front facing main road. Parking not very satisfactory.
-
"Beautiful Cottage in the heart of a very welcoming village, the bed was just amazing very comfortable."
The Wellington Pub just a 5 minute walk and fantastic food, and the Cottage was a good base to explore the countryside
-

"Lovely cottage, friendly neighbours."
Easily accessible location, we went to leeds, knaresborough, harrogate and york via train and car. Beautiful countryside location.
-
"We had a very pleasant stay in this clean and comfortable cottage in the peaceful village of Darley."
There are superb views from the rear windows across the stunning landscape. An excellent location to explore the Dales with most places of interest within easy reach.
-
"The cottage had everything we wanted and was well sited for our planned visits to Harrogate and Holmfirth."
The village had a well stocked shop and the local pub did excellent food. Our dog enjoyed his walks and we would recommend the area for lovers of walking and great scenery.

Great communication from the owner throughout. Recommend.
-
"This was a perfect place to stay and didn’t disappoint - simple, comfortable and great location for access to the Dales."
-
"This was a wonderful property and we had a fantastic holiday."
It was exactly as described. The bed was probably the most comfortable we have ever slept in. The sofa was comfy too. The walks around the area and property were amazing especially down by the River. The fact it was doggy friendly was even better. Everything we needed was there, if I had to find one small thing it is simply that there wasn't a draining rack or dish cloth but honestly that is a tiny thing and didnt really bother us. I would highly recommend the property, it was reasonably priced and comfy and the views were superb. We shall be returning!

"Very comfortable cottage in lovely surroundings, well appointed and clean."
TV reception intermittent, found it strange that there was no access to the rear of the property. Other than that we had an enjoyable few days visiting our grandchildren. I would recommend the food at The Wellington Inn, nicest Sunday dinner I have had in a long time.
-
"Great Cottage, very clean."
Everything you need is there. Bed and sofa comfortable, which is a must for us. Good location for walking the dog. Owner very helpful. Would highly recommend.
-
"Very enjoyable, clean and comfortable accommodation."
Would recommend as a good base for exploring The Dales and Harrogate area
-
"The cottage is situated in a lovely area."
You can do walks from the cottage and you don't have to go far to visit other places.
-
"Bumble Cottage was as expected, very comfortable and well equipped."
The village of Darley had some lovely walks, the village shop is well stocked and the Wellington Inn served very good tasty food. Would highly recommend the cottage and area and would go back.
-
"The cottage was very cosy and quiet with lovely views."
The village was pretty and well placed just outside Harrogate with scenic drives. The surrounding area has plenty of places to visit, highlights were Harlow Car and Grassington.
-
"Good base for walking etc."
-
"Bumble Cottage is a fantastic little gem, placed perfectly for walking the River Nidd with a really good pub a short walk away too."
The cottage itself is perfect for a couple and a dog with a great shower, comfy bed and wood burner. I wouldn't change a thing and would love to return thank you!
-
"Bumble Cottage is a lovely, cosy cottage."
Warm and welcoming in spite of the unseasonal cold weather. Everything needed was there, plenty of walks around the village and easy access to Harrogate and the surrounding attractions.
-
"Perfectly situated for surrounding towns, cities and attractions."
A picturesque view across countryside from the rear windows and really lovely walks direct from the property. The cottage itself was clean, adequately equipped and comfortable. Although not mentioned in the details, there is a small freezer section in the fridge which came in very handy. We did notice there wasn't a lock on the shower room/toilet door, however this wasn't a issue for us. Would be happy to recommend this holiday let to others thinking of visiting the area.
-
"Great little cottage, we stayed for a week and there is plenty to do in the area."
Parking wasn't a problem as there was lots of space available on the road just outside the cottage. The local shop is very close (10min return walk) and very well stocked. Local pub was excellent - the Wellington. They are currently doing takeaway meals and we used this service a couple of times during the week, was very easy and quick to order meals and collect. Well appointed kitchen with everything you need.
-
"We had been let down by a previous company, when i contacted Sykes cottages they helped out straight away and found us an amazing little cottage in a delightful village that was pictures."
The cottage was fabulous and the owner who greeted us was brilliant we will be staying there again. Sykes cottages help and information on getting there was 2nd to none.
-
"Beautiful little cottage, spent 2 nights here."
Spent the day in Harrogate as the weather wasn’t good although I would have loved to explore the lovely country side which surrounded the cottage. Excellent views. Visited the Wellington Inn which was just a short walk away, lovely pub.
-
"The cottage was really cosy, comfy, and pleasant."
At the end of the week we were very sad to leave, and that says a lot. The village is really friendly. It was ideal for our pup, she loved exploring the nearby walks and playing in the river. The cottage was clean, and had everything you needed for a weeks break, it was an excellent base for exploring the Dales. A dryer as well as a washing machine would have been great (weather meant that clothes got muddy quickly!). We were initially disappointed there was no broadband, but there was a decent 4G signal and so that worked well. Recommended - we would go back.
-
"Lovely area to explore the local area around Darley and our dog enjoyed all the Darley Trail walks."
Cottage was very warm and welcoming and even when we had a problem with the heating/hot water it was sorted out in record time by the owner. Thank you for a lovely stay and would definitely come again.
-
"Bumble Cottage is a lovely comfortable cottage in a great location, it just misses some detail in the kitchen, but speaking to the owner shes is looking into this ."
-
"Upset by noisy building works of a large housing estate opposite."
Our car daily covered in brick dust.
-
"This was an excellent holiday for the price we paid and really enjoyed our stay."
It was exceptionally good value. It is a small ,clean and very comfortable cottage and has everything that is needed. Thank you
-
"The cottage was lovely and there were some beautiful riverside walks straight from the door!"
However there was a housing development going on across the road and a lot of diggers going up and down the road so unfortunately not the peaceful rural idyll we were hoping for! We couldn’t sit out in the garden because it was at the front in full view of builders so that was a shame! It would have been good to know that the building work was happening before making the booking!
-
"We have been to Bumble cottage a few times and we love it there!"
We tend to go on alternate years as we go to a Classic car meet in the village of Darley! Although it doesn’t have a back garden you can sit in the front garden and everyone is so friendly! It’s a really lovely cottage and would definitely recommend it!
-
"Having booked with Helpful Holidays over many years and always been delighted with the cottages,we were very disappointed by the lack of equipment in the kitchen of this cottage from the Sykes listings."
Also two problems noted in the guest book had not been rectified. This being a non working ring on the cooker hob and very sharp protruding carpet grips on the stairs.
-
"Lovely cottage and beautiful places to visit"
-
"The cottage was excellent, comfortable and clean."
The location was delightful, with lovely walks and very quiet and peaceful.
-
"A superb holiday cottage with gorgeous walks nearby for our dog."
Perfect for a few days away!
-
"Nothing really."
We have been before, which must be recommendation enough However if you arrive in the dark, it would be very helpful to have an outside light near the key box. We had a great time Many thanks
-
"Lovely clean, cosy cottage in a great location, ideal for dog walkers, lots of walks straight from the door, also had a great village shop and dog friendly pub ."
-
"Very nice to have contact with the owner via email before we arrived and afterwards."
Cottage was as expected and very pleasant. A mirror in the bathroom and bedroom would be good. There was one in the bedroom but it was hidden away in a wardrobe. Sofa was a bit of a pain having to plump up the cushions all the while. Good sized television. Excellent location with bus stop to Harrogate outside the door. Would choose that cottage again.
-
"Fantastic little cottage, exceptionally clean even though pet friendly."
Lovely location in a friendly village and an ideal base for exploring the area. Would highly recommend
-
"Bumble Cottage is in a beautiful peaceful village with lovely views."
Felt a little hemmed in with it having no back garden. Your description is not entirely accurate at first glance, stating that it has a bathroom. It is not until you read full description that you find out it only has a shower room. I missed that and was a little disappointed. However, everywhere was clean and nothing appeared to be lacking. We found the lounge furniture a little uncomfortable and the sofa could definitely benefit from the addition of a few cushions!! Overall we had a lovely holiday in an amazing area but doubt we will choose to visit Bumble Cottage again.
-
"Truly delightful cottage -well placed for touring and visiting."
Every household requirement and really nicely set up. Quiet peaceful and even the neighbour next door was helpful re rubbish collections and local knowledge. We would go back again it was glorious. One little thing and some would think ‘for heavens sake get a life comment’ - was the only thing we missed was no internet connection or Wi-fi, it just seems that today everything we have requires some access to this- looking up places, events etc we used all our data capacity. (Our fault I know we should have read ALL the cottage information in depth ) It did not detract from the visit - wonderful thank you
-
"A lovely comfy cosy cottage."
Perfectly placed for visits to Harrogate, Skipton, Harlow Carr and Fountains Abbey etc.
-
"Lovely comfortable cottage."
Very cozy, good beds and shower and everything there for a home from home and lovely views over open countryside to the rear. The local pub is walkable from Bumble Cottage and served very good food and great open fire with dogs allowed and wi fi available. Car parking was to the front of the property by the bus stop. The local post office/shop/cafe in the village is one of the best we have seen - lots of fruit and veg and welcoming. Cottage not too far from Leeds and even closer to Harrogate. Wonderful little find and Thank you.
