Perfect for… beautiful coastline, traditional music and great scenic walks

County Clare, in the West of Ireland, is known for its unspoilt beauty and striking coastline. It’s the home of traditional Irish music with the tin whistle, fiddle and accordion being predominant features in lots of local get-togethers. There are frequent music festivals in the area, demonstrating the welcoming attitudes of the local people. History runs deep in this part of Ireland, with Bunratty Castle one of the best-preserved and most complete medieval castles in Ireland, built way back in 1425.

There are some great walking routes in the county, especially in the Burren National Park. The park contains many fascinating wildlife species found amongst the woodlands, pavements covered in pretty limestone and coastal views that aren’t to be missed. The county, which was the principal location for the filming of Father Ted, is home to lots of white sandy beaches that are popular for swimming and surfing. The Cliffs of Moher are some of Ireland’s most visited natural tourist attractions and represent the county’s stunning natural landscapes.
