Devon is one of Britain’s most romantic locations and the ideal destination to plan the perfect proposal. Home to historic cities, charming towns, picturesque seaside villages, endless rolling green countryside and two unique coastlines, it’s not difficult to see why. Here are some of our favourite choices for a romantic proposal in Devon.

Rockham Bay Beach, Mortehoe

Rockham Bay was restored and re-opened by the National Trust last year after suffering severe storm damage back in 2014. It’s the perfect secluded spot for a romantic proposal and the equally stunning South West Coastal Path runs alongside the beach and is certainly worth venturing down.

 Ilfracombe Harbour

Ilframcombe Harbour has been in existence since the 12th century. It’s a hub of restaurants, cafes, pubs, tea gardens and more. There are also many romantic spots in the area; a stroll to the top of Lantern Hill brings you to St Nicholas Chapel, which provides a wonderful look out point.

Croyde Bay

The pristine village of Croyde is brimming with charm, magnificent scenery and spectacular beaches. As you can see from the image above, you would be spoilt for choice when picking the ideal spot for the perfect romantic moment.

Woolacombe Beach

Woolacombe is a multi award-winning beach that is regularly voted the best beach in the UK and it’s not difficult to see why. We suggest arriving in the evening to get some fantastic views of its breath-taking sunset.

Branscombe

Branscombe is part of the iconic and distinguishable Jurassic Coast. There’s a beautiful shingle beach and some small rock pools to enjoy, but we recommend taking one of many coastal walks and enjoying the magnificent view from the cliff-tops.

Baggy Point

This headland in Croyde boasts dramatic scenery of jaw-dropping cliffs and crashing waves. There are some fabulous walks through woodland and countryside to embark upon and you can really appreciate the ever-changing backdrop.

Exmoor National Park

Exmoor National Park is a unique landscape of moorland, woodland, valleys and farmland. You can really appreciate the luscious green countryside Devon has to offer in abundance, as well as a new and incredible landscape on offer at every turn. You will be blown away by the vast and varied scenery.

Burrator, Dartmoor

Burrator Resevoir is located on the edge of Dartmoor National Park and is home to dramatic tors, open moorland and its very own nature reserve. Enjoy a romantic walk of exploration; lookout for spectacular flora and fauna and peruse your truly unique surroundings.
