  • "Kilnary Cottage is a fantastic find, in a fantastic location with amazing views."

Everything you need to have a wonderful holiday is there. Only negative for us were that the beds are quite low and not very wide. Think the beds have seen better days as we’re not very comfortable unfortunately. The tap in the kitchen is in desperate need of a new washer. Other than that, this cottage is a fantastic place to stay. Thoroughly enjoyed our week in Scotland and were able to spend quality time with family who live locally. Thank you x

  • "Really nice cottage had good week with friends, two things that would help, door outside from dining room needs repair very stiff to open and close, no instructions for heating system hot water too hot, and a cap needed for chimney in log burner in sitting room a starling had got inside down into burner we managed to catch it with a towel and let it go it flew away ok but would never have got out on its own."

  • "Wonderful cottage."

Lovely, private, modern, spacious and clean, with everything we needed. Perfect for a peaceful holiday. Thank you. We did take up the carpet runner in the hallway as it kept slipping, when we walked on it. Would be safer with sticky pads on it.

  • "This is a beautiful building with rolling field views all around."

Large spacious property very clean. Never bothered by anyone. Constant hot water for the bath. Comfortable beds and spacious kitchen and lounge. Not far from all amenities. Downside but would not prevent us from revisiting is we had a constant invasion of black Beatles which appeared to gain access via the skirting boards and in particular the utility. They came out in the evening we spotted about 25 over the week and mostly in the kitchen, lounge and master bedroom we managed to kill about 20 of them. A dust pan and brush would have been helpful and some bugs spray. The master bedroom remote doesn't work we bought new batteries to no avail. Shower mats would also provide safety as without them the showers are a hazard. A small table in the kitchen would have been handy too. Overall this is an amazing place the insects are part of being in a field to be expected and we told the children the same it must be emphasized that this should not detract from the beauty of this place and we never had them anywhere but on the floors. A hot tub and kids play area would be fabulous additions for the future. We would definitely visit again

  • "Beautiful views."

Lovely location. Easy to reach local cafes and coastal scenery. Peaceful and private. In such an exceptional-looking cottage inside and out, it was so disappointing that we found the mattresses incredibly uncomfortable which meant we didn't sleep well all week. Also a shame our first impression was a broken plastic key chain with sharp edges attached to the front door key. There were no instructions for the oven or heating, however it was very clean and is fantastically spacious. Would benefit from some attention to details that could be easily actioned--we left a separate note for the owner(s). Future guests: there are no supplies such as salt, pepper, cooking oil, sugar, laundry detergent, or coffee/teabags. Washing up liquid and handsoap is provided.

It was a wonderful, spacious cottage, which was beautifully maintained and had everything we needed. Despite being there in February, it was cosy and well heated. The property was in a great location for exploring Aberdeenshire and we would definitely recommend it.

Mattress in main bedroom was a bit hard for us and needs a blind on the on-suite bathroom window. We really enjoyed ourselves as we were there for a family wedding in Schivas Steading.

  • "Location of the cottage and cottage itself were absolutely amazing."

The cottage is nicely decorated, spacious, clean, well equipped. Yes there was no welcome pack but we always have our own supplies so not a big deal. The road to the cottage is a bit worn but again not something that could put us off, experienced much worse ones. Close enough to lovely beaches and there are many attractions from National Trust for Scotland and Historic Scotland to visit. Pitmedden Garden is within a walking distance and definitely worth visiting and so is Haddo House and their estate (not so close though) Lovely walking areas. Cafe 48 in Pitmedden serves really nice breakfast, with nice service - shame we only discovered it on our last day. When the weather is not that great please visit David Welch Winter Gardens in Aberdeen. Flowers breath-taking and the food in the café reasonably priced and delicious. Please be aware of the New Gate system for buses in Aberdeen as you may get yourself a fine. Seriously considering rebooking, the only thing is that we have been in the area so many times that we may book somewhere else in Scotland. Thank you for letting us stay in this lovely place.

  • "There was no heating upon arrival."

Contacted owner and heating oil was delivered Monday morning. What we would have appreciated was a small welcome pack with grocery items eg milk, bread, tea, sugar. The cottage was quite isolated and had we not brought items with us we would have has to find a shop.Virtually all the cottages we've been to have left a few basic items. Also some garden furniture and a barbecue would have been good so we could sit outside and enjoy the sunny weather. Some minor points, heating controls: some simple instructions needed, hooks on backs of bedroom/bathroom doors. Plus points, cottage very comfortable and warm, quiet, spacious, beautiful views , well maintained. Lots to see and visit in the area. We would certainly come again.

The log burner was a bonus as it was a cold week with plenty of logs supplied from the farm. We were not bothered about lack of a welcome pack, took our own tea, coffee with us but a pint of milk in the fridge would have nice to make a cuppa as soon as we arrived after a 5 hour drive. Would have been longer had we not stopped over half way overnight from Yorkshire. Had to drive back to Pitmedden, another 3 miles round trip for milk. Otherwise an enjoyable week.
