Our stay happened to coincide with Eid alfeter, and we were pleasantly surprised by Angus and Gudy's thoughtful gift to celebrate the special occasion. With Ballater, Aboyne, and Banchory all within a 20-30 minute drive, you're spoiled for choice for places to go visit and jumping off points for incredible walks in and around the Cairngorms. Angus and Judy are lovely too - they're very close by and more than happy to help in any way they can. Just stepping out of the car the owners were so welcoming (& understanding of my previous cancellation / postponement). Throughout my weeks stay they were always considerate & sociable, imparting local knowledge that was greatly appreciated. The bothy itself is impeccably fitted out, the kitchen in particular is suitable for anything form a quick bite to a full roast! The view from the dining table over the hills is just a perfect start to the day - either soaking in the sun or watching the clouds rolling over the hills (neither disappoints, and changes minute by minute). And the waterfall shower is an ideal end to to a days walking round the Finzean estate and beyond. And as for sleep.... wow! A really comfortable bed & countryside peace makes a perfect combination. There is a lack of mobile signal in the area for some networks. But that's not necessarily a negative! Wi-Fi always available in the property. The cottage is located in a lovely part of Scotland and the hosts were really helpful land welcoming. The cottage was spotlessly clean, very well equipped and there were some nice little touches to make us feel at home. The orchard is perfect for furry friends and there are a couple of walks perfect for a dog off the lead straight from the cottage. Highly recommended!

  • "A wonderful lodge set in beautiful surroundings with an abundance of wildlife and history!"

! We are a family of four (2 x teenagers) and a lively beagle. The lodge could not be better equip as the owners really have thought of everything with lots of special touches for everyone including the dog. The owners were home in their nearby cottage and could not have been more hospitable. Lovely people. There is an orchard on the grounds, which like the rest of the property is immaculate and was ideal to walk the dog. The farm shop which is a short walk away is great for local produce and breakfast. Thank you to our hosts for making our break one to remember!
