    “We really enjoyed this property.”

The location is superb. It is right on the water front of the Menia Straits in Bangor so you get wonderful views across to Anglesey and the small town of Beaumaris plus along the North Wales Coast as afar as Llandudno. Big skies, tidal flows and boats on the water as well as the chance to walk along the iconic pier just teps from the front door. The location really is a wow factor and being able to sit inside and see the weather change and move along with the tide was worth every penny. ...

Nice touch of a welcome pack of local breads, a bottle of wine and some Scottish (?) shortbread plus milk and butter appreciated. The house has both original features and modern touches. Decorated with light colours throughout, huge windows let the light pour in and every room is spacious. It's a great place for getting together as a family or as group of friends with big dining tables and a lovely big lounge. Comfy beds with decent bedding. lots of hanging space and four bathrooms (two ensuite). All rooms can be doubles. Well stocked kitchen, some games, lots of DVDs and a good selection of local maps and leaflets were also very useful. Access to the property is up a very steep drive so would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. The drive is also very difficult to drive up as it is so steep and narrow. There is a yard at the back which is enclosed, however the front garden is not suitable for small children due to it's steep slope and the road at the bottom with ocasional traffic. Two minor niggles - there was no washing up liquid or surface spray to help us clean. (In fact no cleaning products at all except for some dishwasher tablets). We had to go out and buy them on day one. There is a slight and occasional smell of damp as you pass the small bathroom going up to the first floor and also in the top floor bathroom. This probably needs investigating as to whether it is drains or something else. Neither of these affected our stay in any way.

The property

Bryn Ogwen is a beautiful Victorian semi-detached property, situated in the popular Garth area on the outskirts of Bangor, North Wales.

The property occupies an elevated position and enjoys superb uninterrupted views of the Grade II listed Garth Pier, the second longest pier in Wales, along with the swirling waters of the Menai Straits, Anglesey and as far east as Puffin Island and the Great Orme.

This substantial property is arranged over three floors and with unrivalled Menai Straits water views from every window at the front of the house, this wonderful holiday home provides perfect accommodation for discerning friends and families alike.

Bryn Ogwen offers a spacious, luxurious and stylish interior which has undergone a loving and sympathetic refurbishment over recent years, retaining some of the wonderful original features.

As you enter you immediately feel in awe of this place, stunning Parquet flooring and a beautiful dining room with bay window provides a wonderful space where you can socialise and all dine together around a long table with seating for everyone.

The spacious sitting room with generous sofas has a warming wood burning stove, providing a relaxing and cosy atmosphere in the evening and is a wonderful place to retire to after your meal.

Arranged over the first and second floors are five spacious, stylish bedrooms with comfy beds, ensuring a good night’s sleep will be had by all, waking up refreshed ready for another days exploring.

Two of the bedrooms boast en-suite facilities with a further two shower rooms, one located on each of the upper floors servicing the other bedrooms.

Outside, to the front of the property, there are neat sloping lawns with borders having a variety of shrubs and plants with the gardens again enjoying the superb views, a side patio which is a great place to sit and enjoy the views and at the rear a patio area and garage provides secure storage for bikes and kayaks.

Walking and cycle routes are close by and Penrhyn Castle, a National Trust property, is just five minutes by car.

Bangor is a vibrant and lively university city and it is the oldest city in Wales and one of the smallest in the UK, with a swimming pool close by, a pedestrian shopping centre and many bars and restaurants where you can sample the local Welsh delights.

The Menai Strait offers a superb selection of watersports, as well as fishing opportunities, and the delights of Anglesey, with its superb sandy, golden beaches, is accessible within two miles of this Bangor cottage.

The walled town of Caernarfon with its medieval castle is just 15 minutes’ drive away, and is the starting point for the spectacular Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway, a 25-mile-long narrow gauge railway that twists and turns its way through some of Snowdonia’s most wonderful scenery.

Bryn Ogwen is a stunning property, that will not disappoint, making it a fantastic property to escape from daily life and relax in luxury with friends and family.
