  • "It was a lovely break from the rushing around of daily life, lovely walks on the beaches and not far from the mountains, the views from the lounge over Snowdonia just great, the house was clean and very nicely laid out."

We hope to come back next year to explore more of this lovely Island

  • "`No cheese grater except for a mini parmesan grater which is no use to man nor beast-unless the beast brought parmesan !"

Ok - so the house was fantastic- the quirky layout worked well for our party of 6. The furnishings were lovely, the art work was lovely. Sitting on the top terrace in the sunshine surrounded by butterflies & crickets was lovely. The views across the Menai straits into Snowdonia were magnificent. The locality is marvellous, the walks from the door great. The locals friendly- a red squirrel kindly stopped & posed for photos on a stroll to Arthur's Fort & if you get a chance to say hello to a fella with a large grey beard & a S.A. accent who regularly walks by the house with his dog then do so & if your lucky he will regale you with tales of foreign travel in search of bugs, fascinating. Castles, boat trips, beaches & walks all good. Great holiday. Envious of the owners. But you have been warned- no cheese grater. (cleaners could pay a little more attention to the shower waste traps.)

There was a non-parmesan cheese grater, quietly minding its own business in one of the cupboards - it's always been there, happily looking forward to its next cheesy work-out. However, in anticipation of there not being one - as per this guest's claim - another one was purchased before we came back to Bethania. So now there are three graters and all cheese-processing challenges should now be approached with confidence. That said, and to quote the review these guests left in the Visitor Book, they had a 'Fantastic stay - lovely property.....every day was a treat'. So, combining those observations with the non-cheese-processing part of this feedback, it seems the guests had a great family holiday, enjoyed the house and its position, took in the fantastic views, delighted in the activities and walks, engaged with the friendly locals, and saw a lot of wonderful Anglesey. Still, when you can't find a cheese grater..... Property Owner

  • "The house was perfect, very well equipped and cosy."

The views were amazing and is well situated to explore the island. The nearest beach is only a few miles away, and there are scenic walks on the door step. In an evening, or if weather is poor there are plenty of board games to keep children and adults alike entertained. Thank you Brian and Hannah for sharing your lovely holiday home. We would certainly recommend this property and would use again

  • ""Super stay in this lovely house."

We had great weather, sunny and calm, so ideal for visiting Beaumaris, beach days and more adventure at Zip World and the mountains. The whole area is wonderful for short walks with our dog, and we had relaxing evenings sat outside or playing games in the upstairs sitting room. Thank you for a fab holiday!"

  • "The property is ideally situated close to the Anglesey coastal path and a short drive to Beaumaris."

Unfortunately upon our arrival the property was filthy. The dishwasher was partly loaded containing mouldy plates, the rest of the cutlery and plates were also dirty but had been placed back into the cupboards. Cooking utensils were worn, rusty or so dirty we couldn’t safely use them. Oven was dirty, Bedding was covered in dog hair and faeces were left in the toilet and what appeared to be faeces was in the carpet. We raised our concerns upon our arrival and the management company sent round the cleaning team, who apparently had already been round that day. They were very apologetic and provided my wife with some wine and chocolates. Throughout our negative experience, communication with the management company was excellent and they were equally shocked when we provided photographic evidence. After spending approximately 4 hours cleaning we could commence our holiday at 2100hrs on the first evening. Sykes refunded us £50 from the cost of our holiday. Whilst we accepted the refund, upon reflection we believe that this was below what was reasonable given the circumstances. We did have a nice holiday, but we could not recommend this property to anybody else.

As the guests state, they had a nice holiday, and enjoyed the house, and the location and Anglesey itself. That said, there were some minor cleaning issues with the property, post changeover, and the guests chose to point these out. As would be expected, the manager of the cleaning company responded very quickly and resolved all the difficulties. Obviously, there was no faeces anywhere, as is claimed. There was no mention of this to the cleaning-company manager and the claim is frankly absurd - all the bathrooms had been left in pristine condition by her cleaning team, ditto the rugs and carpets. The kitchen was where there were a small number of issues, as stated, all of which were the result of an oversight by the cleaning team and all of which were quickly and easily resolved, both to the guests' expressed satisfaction and to the cleaning company's usual high standard. Plus, some cross-over of laundry had led to a minor issue with the linen; there was no dog hair anywhere and this was confirmed to the cleaning-company manager by the guests. Overall, yes, there were some cleaning issues, but the guests' holiday was not materially affected by these and, as they said, they had a lovely time. Property Owner

  • "Wow - What a treat to spend time here - The view over Menai Straits and Snowdonia is stunning."

This is a beautiful traditional welsh stone house and we loved the location. Great to find somewhere with four big roomy bedrooms and they are so well located within the house to give everyone some privacy. Beautifully clean and well stocked in every way. I would really recommend for other groups wanting a get together in a beautiful location. We will definitely be back - (Macclesfield)

  • "Unfortunately we had a few problems The cleanliness of the house was not very good."

We had to clean plates, glasses cutlery, the bathroom in master bedroom was quite dirty with cobwebs, bedroom had cobwebs and dusty too, broken toilet seat. The mattress had lots of stains! No protector! Disgusting. I couldn’t sleep on the bed and slept on the sofa! The pillows in my sons room were heavily mouldy and stained. They had been put in protectors so someone must have seen the state of the pillows. I have pictures of everything. The bedrooms downstairs No protector on double bed, bad mould on the walls Extensive mould in the twin room. This is awful considering the recent publicity regarding the effects of mould. The general upkeep of the house need updating. The sofas in the living area is heavily stained uncomfortable We paid quite a lot for the stay and it was really disappointing and distressing for us. We did speak to the owner/cleaner & Sykes about the situation who arranged for the toilet seat to be swapped and the lovely cleaners came and put protectors on the beds and cleaned. But the issues should not have happened in the 1st place. I don’t think it should be rated 4 ticks at all. I have photos of everything which I can send you.

There was an issue with an old pillow which had escaped scrutiny from both the owners and cleaning team. This was alerted to the owners on the Friday evening, and remedied as quickly as possible, with the manager of the cleaning company visiting the property early on Saturday. As well as replacing the pillow, she had a good look around and dealt with the other minor requirements of the guests. The guests were apologised to for the bedding issues and they went on to enjoy a lovely four-day stay. More generally, the guests' input was used after their stay, to allow cleaning routines and processes to be inspected, evaluated and improved upon. With that in mind, there have been no similar issues raised by any guests since. Property Owner

About the location

BEAUMARIS

Menai Bridge 4 miles.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.
