  • "Bryn Derwen was everything we wanted it to be, we booked for a special occasion and we enjoyed every moment."

The pool, sauna and outside facilities were excellent, the bedrooms comfortable and spacious. It had quirks that you expect from an old house but that only added to the charm.

  • "FANTASTIC property."

Went with 18 friends, and with 6 communal living areas plus oodles of outside space you never feel on top of each other. Swimming pool and hot tub are incredible and were in use most of the weekend. It's like having your own hotel. The photos really don't show the full vastness and comfort of the property, it really is amazing. Only improvement I would suggest is that a house that sleeps 20 should also seat 20 at the dining table. We managed to get the 18 of us round the table by moving the kitchen bench in, but a set of six fold up chairs (could easily be stacked in the utility room) would solve the problem. Other than that, perfection! Thanks for a lovely stay, we are rebooking for next year.

  • "What an amazing place to stay, comfortable living, easy access to all areas, very clean and the groundsman was very polite and helpful."

The owner Elaine was also very friendly and was always and hand if needed to be contacted. We would 100% recommend this oasis in beautiful wales should you be thinking of somewhere to stay.

  • "We were absolutely delighted with Bryn Derwen Manor House."

The photographs on the website do not do the property justice. There was lots of space both indoors and outdoors and the views were amazing. The heated outdoor pool was a big hit with our party, as was the hot tub and the ‘secret’ games room. The property was beautiful and clean. Bedrooms were huge and beds were comfortable. The surrounding grounds were brilliant for the children and dogs to play in. The kitchen was a lovely ‘communal’ area and had ample cookers, crockery and utensils. The wood burner in the conservatory was cosy. The only teeny tiny criticism would be that there was not a brush or dustpan and brush just to tidy up any ‘spillages’. All in all a really beautiful house.

It was even better than it looked in the photos. Very high standard of cleanliness, plenty of basics such as loo roll, dishwasher tablets, tea and coffee etc. The groundskeeper who let us in was extremely welcoming and helpful. We would definitely stay again.

  • "Bryn Derwen is stunning; there is so much communal space (indoors and outdoors) that we didn't have enough time to enjoy them all!"

It is furnished beautifully and spotlessly clean. The owners and Gordon, were fantastic when we had one problem and they even exceeded expectations by going above and beyond. We felt completely at home and would have loved to have stayed longer. Thank you again!

  • "This house was amazing!"

There was 18 of us in our family and it provided everything we needed and more. It completely exceeded our expectations - it was very clean, very comfortable. The children loved the secret games room and the hot tub. The barbecue patio area and courtyard were beautiful. The handyman was always on hand whenever we needed as was most helpful. The location was central to all the places we had planned to visit - Zip-world, Snowdonia, beaches and walks. The information booklet was fantastically comprehensive, including some very useful numbers and recommended places to visit. There was also lots of blackberry bushes in the garden, that the children enjoyed eating! We would definitely recommend this house to our friends and family. We made some great memories and didn't want to leave - thank you so much!

About the location

BETHESDA

Bangor 6 miles; Caernarfon 10 miles.

Bethesda is a small town settled beside the River Ogwen in North Wales. Situated on the A5 between Bangor and the Snowdonia National Park, Bethesda was once a busy slate quarrying town and nowadays offers a good selection of shops and other amenities, in particular a number of chapels and pubs. The beautiful mountainous scenery of Snowdonia borders Bethesda, with the Lôn Las Ogwen cycling and walking paths skirting past. For the more adventurous, why not visit Zip World in Bethesda which is known for having Europe’s fastest and longest zip line. Capel Curig, just ten miles away, is a popular centre for walking, climbing and mountain biking, whilst Llanberis is situated at the foot of Mount Snowdon and is home to the Snowdon Mountain Railway and the National Slate Museum. Cwm Idwal is also a wonderful spot to visit, situated in northern Snowdonia – Darwin came to study the area and found tiny fossils of oceanic plant life and sea creatures in the boulders and rocks. The coastal town of Caernarfon is just a short drive away as is the beautiful Isle of Anglesey and the Anglesey Coastal Path. Visitors to the area can also explore the castles of Caernarfon and Beaumaris and the NT stately homes of Penrhyn Castle and Plas Newydd Country House and Gardens. Spend the day at one of the many traditional seaside resorts, or discover the isolated, hidden beaches on Anglesey, much of which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With spectacular scenery on the doorstep, wonderful wildlife with buzzards soaring overhead and the occasional Peregrine Falcon to be seen, and many exciting outdoor adventures to discover nearby, Bethesda is superbly located for enjoying both the coast and the countryside of stunning North Wales.
