  • "A great house in a secluded location not far from the fantastic town of Beaumaris."

Plenty to do and see on Anglesey and across the Menai in Wales. The house was well presented, well equipped, good value and has some great living spaces. We were only a party of 4, so had space to spare. I can understand the comments about bathrooms per person for 10 guests but it is clearly stated in the details.

  • "We had very enjoyable week in Plas Elyn helped by the beautiful weather."

The property is well equipped particularly the kitchen. The decor throughout was lovely with interesting artwork ,books and fabrics Because of the good weather we were able to make full use of the pleasant garden. The criticism of the accommodation is that the number of bathrooms is inadequate for 10 guests especially as one shower room is small and en suite. It would be helpful to install a toilet and wash basin in the utility area .There are no facilities for the two rooms on the third floor and access to the bathroom is down a difficult spiral staircase.

Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted that you enjoyed your week at Plas Elyn. We understand your comments on the number of bathrooms. We considered this issue when we bought and renovated Plas Elyn. Having taken advice, we concluded that unfortunately it was not practicable to install a further bathroom upstairs, as this would involve the loss of a bedroom, or in the utility room, due to plumbing issues. • "We were, initially, very excited upon entering Plas Elyn."

You can tell that the owners spent a lot of time and money doing the place up. I really enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and sitting in the dining room with a cosy blanket when it became chilly. The house has an amazing view and despite incredibly grumpy neighbours (actually, the woman not the man) we were very happy to be there. Unfortunately, there were a few things that were things with the house that caused real concern, which led us to think that either the current owners were duped when they purchased the house, or its on them. - The main room smelt of damp - there is definitely a leak in the house. The sooner they address this, the better for all concerned. - The boiler stopped working at least x4 times that we know of. As above re fixing - The stairs to the living area are unsafe - The radiator in the bedroom with the en-suite, never came on (this is where my mother-in-law was sleeping, so not good). In addition to that, the housekeepers forgot to leave towels in the loft rooms, and we were unable to use one of the loft rooms, because the carpet was soaking due to a previous guest. We could absolutely cope with the last two issues, however the heating/no hot water x4 times and the issue with the stairs left us very concerned with this property. I would hope the owners have the conscience to resolve our biggest concerns ASAP before someone really gets hurt. Kind regards Tina

Thank you for your feedback. We apologise for the problems with the boiler. Unfortunately, there was a leak in the system that took some time to locate. This boiler is now fully functional and your complaint on this issue has been resolved. On the other issues that you raised: The stairs are safe. You are the only guest that has ever raised any concerns about them. The housekeepers leave out sufficient towels for the number of guests on the booking form – in your case 3 adults and 2 children. If you had extra people staying then you should have notified the agent. We do not provide beach towels. There was no problem with the loft bedroom carpet when the housekeepers were in shortly before your arrival. You say the neighbours were “grumpy”. This should be put into context. We understand you blocked the neighbours’ car in on a number of occasions. You brought two large vans, which you declined to park in the parking bay 20 metres up the private lane, and several cars visited during the week. The occupant of one of these vehicles threw a sandwich out of the window onto our neighbours’ property in front of them. When challenged, the gentleman did not apologise but turned his back and said “it’s for the birds. Property Owner

About the location

BEAUMARIS

Menai Bridge 4 miles.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.
