  • "The property was lovely, the area was amazing."

The hot tub was lovely and clean and nice to use,we felt the cottage could have been cleaner, there were dead flies on the windowsill behind the TV, and also cobwebs , there was also a previous occupants dirty socks in the ground floor bedroom so obviously not a thorough clean had been done, the oven was quite dirty and needed a good clean. The property was well equipped but more fridge space for a group of 8 would be better and more glasses for general use as 2 wine glasses and 3 champagne flutes not sufficient for 8 people!! We felt the property would benefit from a few homely touches such as a chair in the bedrooms and a few pictures We would return to the area again as Anglesey was a fabulous place to visit and would go to Sardis Chapel again but would hope the comments are taken on viewed as it was a lovely property with plenty of space for a large mixed group

  • "Lovely stay in Sardis chapel 1 3 generations family and 2 dogs Accommodation is very well thought out with each room having en-suite/private bathroom."

Would have welcomed option if possible to turn 1 bed into twins Lobby area tiled floors all other floors wooden and stairs carpeted, made easy to keep clean ( if brush provided) Lovely large area as enter property to take off boots, hang coats with underfloor heating to dry everything off. Furniture is all good quality and beds very comfortable. Kitchen area has all equipment you would want for self catering holiday. Although seating is very comfortable you would struggle if there were more than 5 people to sit on sofas. Ideally additional comfy chairs are required as sleeps 8 Private parking for number of vehicles. Great position with easy access to walks from property and short drive away to many more beaches /attractions. Would suggest 1 soft broom/hoover to sweep floors especially as enter property 2 more than 1 bin bag 3 bigger supply logs 4 better control of heating especially downstairs in bedrooms- very warm and difficult to turn it down 5 additional comfortable seating in lounge area However these are all minor points and we had great break, we’re very impressed by standard of the property.

  • "We had an excellent holiday in a lovely comfortable cottage, and the dogs barking mentioned in other comments didn’t bother us, even with 3 babies sleeping at different times of the day."

Just a few things that would have been helpful to us:- . A sweeping brush would have been really helpful with all the wooden and tiled floors . Directions on how to recycle would be helpful (we eventually found a recycling point at Aldi) as no recycling collection is available at the cottage, but that is how residents recycle, we couldn’t even find anything on the internet. . The first bedroom on the ground floor needs some kind of furniture to enable bags to be unpacked. There’s a clothes rail in the cupboard but just one high shelf so nowhere really to put clothes or toiletries except the floor.

  • "We had a lovely family break."

The place was very clean and comfy. We had a toddler with us and would ask if child locks and socket covers could be provided as this maybe helpful for future visitor's. Other than that it was a lovely memorable time Thank you

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, excellent facilities, great location, just a couple of minor observations: Agree with other reviewers, seating area would not be great if max capacity in property, the lighting in the living area is bright, however a few lamps may be worth adding so not as harsh of an evening."

The velux windows are fab, but blinds would be a great addition, we were lucky to have great weather and could have done with some shade up there. Fortunately our dogs did not react to the howling dogs, I would imagine this would be a pain if they did! Hot tub lovely, garden very dark, which was great for star gazing, but not when one of your dogs is jet black! Maybe worth mentioning steep stairs as would be a problem if infirm/ elderly/ small children….dogs loved them though

  • "We had a great week."

The beds were comfy and it was lovely that there were 4 bathrooms. The towels were thick and absorbent There was plenty of constant hot water. Parking nearby was free which was appreciated. However, we were disappointed in the sitting in the lounge. No way was there adequate seats for 8 people. It was a struggle for 5 of us to sit and relax in the evenings. Meaning 3 of us had to try snd sit on an uncomfortable dining chair. To us, snd I am sure for most visitors this is an important aspect/activity on any holiday. A minor niggle was the fact there was only 1 tea towel. This wasn’t a huge issue as we simply went and bought some. But it would have been useful if the owner had suggested we bought our own The nearby howling dogs were annoying particularly during the night but we would not penalise the owner for this.

  • "Beautiful property."

Family of 6 adults thoroughly enjoyed our time here apart from the fact the hot tub was locked on our first night which was very disappointing as we had planned to use it.

Thank you for your positive feedback and we are so glad you enjoyed your time here! We do however apologize for the hot tub lock due to a new system being installed - we have dealt with this with Menai holiday cottages and ensure it will not happen again. We hope to see you back here soon! Property Owner

  • "Absolutely brilliant property."

Felt high spec and well thought through in terms of comfort, facilities, furnishings & decor. Very comfy beds, lovely cotton bedding, and the bathrooms all great with high quality fittings. Unfortunately, the weather during our stay was dreadful, so having a lovely place like this to stay was an absolute bonus.

Thank you for the lovely feedback, we are thrilled you had a good time despite the weather. Very welcome back any time! Property Owner

We enjoyed the hot tub, cakes from the cafe and fish and chips from over the road. Gardeners would enjoy visiting Plas Cadnant.

  • "Great location, high quality appliances and comfortable, clean accommodation."

Our only criticism if the dingy allocation of just one dishwasher tablets - we wanted to enjoy the accommodation and hot tub... not spend our time washing up after 8 people. But clearly pretty perfect if that is all we can moan about.

Thanks for the positive feedback and sorry about the dishwasher tablets! We will try to have a full pack on standby for your next visit :) Property Owner

  • "Our one issue were the number of flies in the property, mainly the top floor (kitchen & lounge areas) Looking at the reviews this has been mentioned a number of times!"

Maybe some fly spray would be an advantage as this is not something people pack in their luggage!! Otherwise, no complaints.

Thank you for choosing to stay at Capel Sardis 1 and taking the time to share your experience with us. We really appreciate your comments and feedback. Being situated in the lovely countryside can unfortunately mean there are flies around, especially if the velux windows were open. However, thankfully, this tends to be seasonal and we can store some fly repellent in the cupboard for future guests’ comfort. Thank you for your suggestions and we are happy that you otherwise had a wonderful stay! Property Owner

  • "Upon arrival the place was pristine and immediately we felt at home."

The welcome pack was plentiful and much appreciated. We would have appreciated blinds on the top floor not for privacy but to block out the sun when watching TV. Thank you so much.

  • "The property has been renovated to a high standard and was very comfortably appointed."

It was spotlessly clean, upon arrival, and we immediately felt at home. The beautiful bathroom/shower for every room was particularly well received. It’s location to nearby beauty spots could not be faulted, despite Sardis Chapel 1, and 2, and The Fisherman’s Cottage being basically placed in a pub car park. The pub wasn’t particularly noisy, however it would put us off visiting in the summer months when more clientele would undoubtedly be sitting outside. The “howling dogs” that was referred to in a previous review was accurate. There are at least six large dogs kennelled in the garden of an adjacent neighbours garden. Overall, they remain silent, however, when something disturbs them, the pack mentality returns and the begin to bark and howl in unison. This isn’t often, but a tad irritating. The top floor, which houses the lounge, and dining kitchen is bright, airy and open. The plentiful Velux windows allow some delightful views across the estuary, and loads of natural light, however we felt that they needed blinds to screen the sunshine to afford shade, when dining or attempting to watch the tv in the bright sunshine. The steep stairs between floors are difficult to negotiate if you have mobility issues, or have toddlers, and I think that prospective clients should be notified of there existence. We had a wonderful week in a delightful property, in a part of the island that we haven’t previously concentrated on. Newborough Forest, and beach are outstanding areas of natural beauty and rightly so. Any of the three properties are perfect for the endless birdwatching and photography opportunities on the estuary. Thank you to the owners and Sykes Cottages for their assistance in arranging the last minute changes that made our holiday so memorable.

Thank you for choosing to stay at Capel Sardis 1 and for taking the time to write this review. We greatly appreciate your comments and feedback and strive to improve with each and every stay. The property is indeed situated next to small pub (which serves a well deserved pint after a long walk by the beautiful estuary) however, the carpark you refer to does in fact, belong to the properties themselves, therefore, is for the sole use of Capel Sardis guests. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Capel Sardis 1 and look forward to welcoming you again. Property Owner

Newspaper fish and chips from the local shop/chippy - the owner was very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed days at Newborough, the beach at Porth Trecastel, Beaumaris, Penmon Point and Holy Island with a walk on the Range and tea at the RSPB centre at south stack. Thank you for providing us with a cafetiere- much appreciated.

Hot tub was great. Pity the pub next door didn’t serve meals, as that would have been handy, but had a great time.

The small village of Malltraeth lies in the south west corner of Anglesey, at the head of the long inlet formed by the Cefni Estuary and close to the popular Newborough Forest and Warren sand dunes. Malltraeth Pool and the magnificent sweep of marshes and sand dunes, which stretch south to Llanddwyn Island, are all part of a National Nature Reserve.
