  • "We had a lovely stay at Farmhouse Cottage during February half term."

The cottage is clean and spacious it was perfect for the 5 of us and our dog. There was a cot, stair gate, highchair and toys for our toddler. We recieved tea, sugar and milk on our arrival. Dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid provided. There was a leak in the upstairs bathroom we called the owner to inform and he came straight over to take a look. All in all a great stay a complete home from home. Will definitely book again.

  • "Lovely quiet area but fairly close to amenities by car."

Farmhouse Cottage was very comfortable, we would probably book again but we did have a few niggles that could be easily fixed to improve it for the future. All rooms were spacious except for kitchen which was a bit tight at times with dining, cooking and the only place for coats and shoes. Decor was clean and tidy in bathrooms, lounge and bedrooms. Kitchen looked a little tired in places. Unfortunately under and behind sofa rubbish was left from previous holiday makers. Only one small size bath towel provided each, would've been nice to at least have a hand towel too. Received fresh milk and tea and sugar in canisters. Dishwasher tablets present with cloths and sponge but no handwash or washing up liquid. Small, secure patio but the garden isn't so if your dog is inquisitive and likes chasing rabbits or pheasants you may want to keep them on a lead just incase. A bit disappointed that there is no recycling at all. It all goes in the bin as refuse collection. I know this is probably due to the new rules in Anglesey that Holiday let's have to pay for their own recycling collections.

We had 4 adults and 3 kids including an infant. The 3 bedrooms were very spacious and they had things available to use for our infant such as highchair and stairgate and toys. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and the garden area was great too for everyone. Good location not too far away from anywhere would come back again

The cottage was well equipped and comfortable. Had seen a few reviews about the beds being uncomfortable but they were comfortable for us. It is in a very peaceful rural area but a great base as nowhere is too far on the island. Best for those who don’t mind driving to get to places, as there were no paths on sections of the main road nearby (i.e. you wouldn’t really want to walk to the local pub). Would stay there again.

Clean, plenty of storage & fully equipped for a longer holiday stay. My daughter arrived during the day but me & my son arrived at night time & both of us struggled to find it in the dark. There is a sign at the end of the lane saying ' Blackhorse Cottages' but nothing on the website or confirmation that states this so it was a bit confusing. But would recommend.

Nice shower. Comfy settee. Beautiful setting. Excellent location to explore the island. We gave it 4/5 because the single beds weren't very comfortable for adults with poor mattresses, and the lovely patio area was spoilt by the smell from the oil storage unit which was quite overwhelming at times, depending on the wind direction. All in all though, a nice holiday and a decent cottage.

  • "Comfortable and spacious, well equipped property for us family of 2 adults, teenager, tween and toddler, perfectly located for exploring, easy to find, lovely and quiet, comfortable beds and seating!"

We didn't get the weather for a barbecue but the patio and garden is made for it. The downsides were being woken each night by loud knocking and banging from the radiators, a shower that was more like a dribbly kitchen tap, and no recycling on site - not that the owners can do much about these - and lots and lots of dog hair throughout. We're a shoe free household without pets, but if you're not it probably wouldn't bother you, and there are places you can take your recycling nearby. Owner knocked on to say hello and give a quick guide which was lovely, other than someone coming to see to the cows opposite we didn't see anyone here. Very lovely stay- thank you.

  • "This is a lovely cottage, well situated to explore the island, just off the road from Menia to Pentraeth."

Some great beaches nearby, with Beaumaris and Menai also a short drive away. Nowhere is very far on Anglesey! The Cottage is tucked away down a short lane, with lovely views of Snowdonia and next to fields with cattle and wild rabbits. The cottage has its own lawn / paddock, which is great for exercising dogs and kids and a lovely, fenced-in patio and its own parking. Inside is a very spacious, well-equipped kitchen-diner with large lounge (includes Netflix!) and internet. There is a downstairs toilet & bath and a twin bedroom. Upstairs is a double room (double bed) with En-suite and a larger double bedroom (also a double bed) with an extra single bed - so sleeps 6-7 in total if necessary, in 3 bedrooms. It is all very clean and cosy with some lovely views. On clear days, Snowdonia looks very close. There are various pubs, trestaurants and take-aways nearby, a good number of them "dog-friendly" also. The owner is very friendly and helpful, a phone call away if needed, but otherwise will give you all the space you need. Honestly, this was 10/10. Highlty recommended for a family break.

The property, location and owners were lovely but I feel I have to mention the beds - they are so uncomfortable. The mattresses seem so thin and lacking in springs, they are cheap and this lets the comfort factor of the property down. We managed to sleep using a double bed and a single divan bed but it wasn't ideal as the trip was part of our honeymoon! I would really like to go back to stay at this property but could only consider it if the beds (or mattresses) were changed. Sorry, I wasn't going to say anything but then if we don't tell you you don't know what's wrong to make it right?

It was lovely and quiet and the dogs loved having a large lawned garden to explore. It boasts beautiful views and is surrounded by fields which have horses and cows. The owners were friendly and welcoming on arrival and let us know where to find them if we needed to. The beach was really close by and has the added bonus of free parking, literally on the beach. It was very clean, spacious and worked really well for 3 generations ranging in age from 5 months to 81years plus Merlot, our 2 year old Flat Coated Retriever. The bedrooms were exceptionally large and it was good to have an en suite bathroom, plus downstairs family bathroom. There is easy access from Farmhouse Cottage to everywhere on Anglesey and there are a range of supermarkets within an easy distance. To quote my 'townie' son "I wasn't expecting it to feel so rural but have everything so close. I could live here". WiFi would have been useful as although mobile phone reception was available, it was intermittent. Having said that, it did us good to have a virtually technology free holiday! It was our first visit to Anglesey and we loved it so much! We will definitely be back!

  • "We liked the fact that it was quiet and peaceful and in a good location, it was comfortable enough, but it would have benefitted from having another shower in the bathroom, which is more than big enough, because only having it available in the ensuite meant that you were waiting for people to get up and then queueing for the shower, I find getting in and out of a bath difficult so that was not an option!"

The other downsides were the tv - we found it very difficult to get it going at the start and the screen was far too small, it was more like a bedroom tv, and because there was no wi-fi it was a bit of a let down that the tv wasn't very good either! A hand book for the cottage would have been useful as it was only after we had been there for a few days that we found some papers stuck beside the microwave that told us where to put the rubbish- too late in our case as I think I may have used the wrong bin! We also had difficulty in locating the cottage initially as the entrance is signposted as Blackhorse cottages, yet nowhere on the directions does it mention that! Some information on what there is to do locally would have also been nice.
