Mr Atkinson “Holly Cottage is nicely situated to get out and about for hiking, more gentle walking and sight-seeing.”

Located just off the main road and near the bridge over Loch Leven, I was a bit concerned about traffic noise...... however very little could be heard. Overall the cottage was probably in its correct comfort / amenities category, though the covid pandemic meant a number of seful things were removed by the owners, but there was an online link provided, offering info etc. Clean and tidy, large comfortable sofa, TV a bit too small. There were only the two of us and though its 3 double bedroomed property, I think more than four would feel crowded. For the price we paid it was certainly good enough and we weren't disappointed. The outdoor table with the view is in the front garden and as such you do hear all the traffic going over the bridge.

Mrs Pearson “Cottage was described as having Freeview but didn’t, there was no games room as advertised and no DVD player.”
Property itself was incredibly dusty on floors and there were cobwebs on all drawers at the bottom. There was also grit on all floors and hair. Needed a good hoover. The rest of the cottage was very comfortable and the kitchen was modern and well equipped, it was in a fantastic location and the owner, Heather was very responsive to our messages when we raised the issues. She did bring us a new hoover as the old one had broken which may go some way to explain the very gritty floors. We had a fantastic holiday and would potentially book this cottage again if the tv situation was solved and it was thoroughly cleaned right through.
- Mrs Pearson, October 2020Mr Bence “A lovely week in in North Ballachulish.”
The house was clean, comfortable, quiet and well equipped. Our host Heather was friendly and helpful. We hope to return to Holly Cottage before too long.
- Mr Bence, September 2020Dr Easom “The house was lovely, very comfortable and clean and the owner was very pleasant and helpful.”
The scenery and views were absolutely amazing (in general and from the cottage) and the cottage is smack bang in the middle of some of the best scenery in the UK. The approach through the snow topped mountains of Glencoe, on the approach to the cottage, was spectacular. I would definitely recommend and I would hope to return at some point. 10/10.
- Dr Easom, October 2019Dr Virgo “Cottage was in a great location with fantastic views.”
Hotel with pub nearby . Great wee wood stove and kitchen facilities met our needs well. Bedrooms were comfortable . Electric showers but I know this is standard in the highlands and worked well. All enjoyed the holiday

The windows in the en-suite bedroom were black and mouldy and not cleaned very well ,there were no shelves in the en-suite for toiletries,no slip mat in shower cubicle, towels had bleach stains, toilet roll holders were rusty , furniture uncomfortable settee had food and dirt between the cushions ,for 3 bedroom property the seating in the living area was poor, the rear garden was like a rubbish tip an old double sink with taps sticking up left in the garden not child friendly,in the parking area the hedge needed trimming back, when getting out of the car there is not a lot of room between the hedge and car, this property could do with improving ,a very disappointing holiday
- Mr Macgregor, August 2019Mrs Marwood “Well situated, tastefully decorated, extremely comfortable cottage.”
A real home from home. Had the best nights sleep in ages! Although the weather wasn’t the greatest we were incredibly cosy. We loved our first visit to the highlands!
- Mrs Marwood, June 2019Mrs Pratt “We had a fantastic holiday, everything we needed was in the cottage.”
All one level which was good for my in-laws who can't do a lot of stairs. Breathtaking view from the living room and beautiful scenery. I met a couple and recommended Holly Cottage plus, i gave them your website to have a look at other cottages including Orme View LLandudno which we stayed in December that was just as lovely as Holly Cottage. We would stay again without a doubt 10/10!

The best so far I've rented in the Highlands. This stylish semi-detached cottage is located in North Ballachulish on the northern shore of Loch Leven, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and intriguing history.
Holly Cottage is presented to a very high standard and the smart contemporary interior will be appreciated by guests.
This cottage would be ideal for a family group or group of friends who want to explore the heart of Scotland together!
There are three comfortable bedrooms, one benefiting from en-suite facilities and the open plan living space with its woodburning stove is cosy and welcoming.
The French doors from the living area open out onto a front patio which is an ideal spot from which to appreciate both the stunning loch and mountain views and perhaps enjoy a pre-dinner glass of wine.
The nearby hotel is a short walk away should you simply want a relaxing meal out and the chance to meet some locals.
From this cottage visitors can access some of the most popular areas that Scotland has to offer.
Just a short drive away is atmospheric Glencoe where the famous massacre of 1692 saw the Clan MacDonald of Glencoe annihilated!
Alternatively, take a drive westwards along the famous road to the Isles and visit Glenfinnan where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his standard to rally the clans and where you'll find the Glenfinnan viaduct, memorably captured in the Harry Potter films.
It all happened in this very area!
Less than an hour away is the coastal town of Oban and from here visitors can visit some of the pretty islands of the west coast such as Mull, Tiree and Uist.

A simply welcoming cottage in a fabulous vibrant location to suit everyone.

About the location
BALLACHULISH
Kinlochleven 8 miles; Fort William 15 miles.
Deriving its name from the Gaelic Baile a' Chaolais meaning 'The Village by the Narrows’, Ballachulish straddles the narrows at the mouth of Loch Leven. Encompassing North Ballachulish and South Ballachulish, these two villages were separated until 1975 when the Ballachulish Bridge opened. North Ballachulish sits just across the bridge while South Ballachulish lies 3 miles to the east on the southern side. North Ballachulish offers a hotel and petrol station/shop, whilst South Ballachulish has a supermarket, coffee shop, Post Office, pubs, hotels and a Tourist Information Centre/gift shop. Ballachulish attracts many visitors throughout the year and is a perfect base for those wishing to enjoy outdoor pursuits. Ballachulish once had a major slate quarrying operation which continued for over 250 years until 1955 when the quarry was closed and today the old quarries are now being reclaimed by nature and the area is famous once again but this time as an idyllic holiday location. Nearby Kinlochleven boasts Ice Factor, an indoor ice and rock climbing centre, plus Fort William, with the impressive title of the Outdoor Capital of the UK, is situated 15 miles to the north with access to the famous Nevis Range, and Glencoe is within easy reach. With Fort Augustus and Loch Ness about an hour’s drive away, Ballachulish is a fabulous holiday location.
Property is available for booking from the 3rd Jan 2020 for 7 nights - this would be £471.00
