    It’s Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The owners give you total privacy but are easy to contact if needed. Even though we’ve stayed before We filled our week with new things to see and do. Great location if you’re wanting to see Dumfries, but want a peaceful cottage to relax in at night. The views are fantastic and the hot tub is a real treat. The cottage is bigger than it looks on the photos and you have to see it to realise how beautiful the setting is. The children loved seeing the lambs in the fields outside the cottage too. It really is one of the best cottages we’ve stayed in and we’ve stayed in many cottages. 11/10

    Everything was perfect, cottage beautifully presented, very clean and well equipped. Hottub area was fantastic as well, with beautiful views over the countryside and beyond but also undercover incase the weather was poor. Hosts provided a host of little extras to get us started on our break which included logs and kindling, matches and firelighters for the wood burner. Tea, coffee and shortbread provided in the kitchen as well as the small stuff like salt n pepper, cooking oil, tinfoil n baking paper. Absolutely excellent place to relax and unwind and we are definitely going to rebook as soon as we can.

    The lovely little wood burner and the hot tub turned our trip into a cozy little getaway. The cottage is very secluded, which was what we were after, but it’s only a 30 min drive or so to the next big city. It’s a lot more spacious then the pictures might suggest and we loved the little themed bedroom decoration and the other thoughtful little touches you can find all over the cottage. The area surrounding the cottage is just beautiful. We loved every second of our stay and will definitely be back! Also the hosts were really friendly and helpful.

    Collieston cottage is a real gem and exceeded our expectations. The location and views are absolutely gorgeous. The actual cottage was well presented, clean, welcoming and cosy. The doggy welcome basket was great and the selection of shortbread biscuits were a great welcome treat for everyone. Although it is a working farm, the cows and sheep didn't bother us and the children loved seeing the animals in the fields close to the cottage. The upstairs lounge/bedroom area were great for the older children as they loved have their own space. The hot tub was great and the views from the hot tub was amazing. Last but not least, the owners were lovely too. Although they are around on the farm, they are not intrusive at all and it was lovely talking to them. We normally don't like going back to the same place more than once as we like exploring different places, but Collieston cottage might have changed our minds.

    The cottage itself was one of the most well equipped cottages we have stayed in. Everything was supplied that would be needed. It was like staying in your own home. All the welcome packages were a lovely touch and it is these little things which make the difference. This was a family holiday although all members were adults. The wi-fi was the best we have every experienced whilst being away and all four of us were able to check in and use all of our devices at the same time. Quite remote which is what we had wanted. The hot tub was fantastic and the views wonderful despite a full week of typical Scottish rainy weather (which we were also prepared for). We would definitely recommend this cottage and would definitely consider booking up again next year! It was also nice for the owners to check in with us half way through our stay to ensure everything was okay.

The only comment I would make is make sure you have everything as nearest wee shop is 25 mins away - it is in the middles of nowhere which perfect. We went for some nice walks around the farm - searching for the gate that led to a stone path as per instructions in the welcome book. About the location

Castle Douglas 18 miles; Gretna 30 miles; Kirkcudbright 40 miles; Lake District National Park 50 miles;

Known as the Queen of the South, Dumfries is a market town and former royal burgh and is the largest town in south west Scotland. It lies close to the mouth of the River Nith as it opens into the Solway Firth. Its origins are mysterious and are believed to involve at various times the ancient Romans, St Ninian and there is evidence of King Arthur having fought battles in the area. It is also held that Malcolm Canmore and William the Conqueror met here in the 11th century and William Wallace pursued the English through the surrounding Nith valley 200 years later. Robert the Bruce killed his rival John Comyn in the Greyfriars Kirk in Dumfries and Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed in the town for a few days in the mid 18th century and the poet Robert Burns moved to Dumfries in 1791 and staying until his death five years later. Today Dumfries is a bustling popular town with much to offer the visitor. Its location makes it ideal for exploring the coastline with its sandy beaches and rocky inlets to the Galloway Hills and Ae forest offering superb walking and cycling on the famous 7 stanes trails. Visit stunning Caerlaverock Castle and Nature Reserve or indulge in some high octane excitement with the Scottish Rally based in Dumfries each summer.
