    The Coach House is very well appointed and we had absolutely no problems. The owners left some goodies in the fridge which was entirely unexpected. We were particularly grateful for the owners allowing us to recharge our hybrid/electric car battery for which we made an additional payment (although we were not asked for one). Loads of local information available. Highly recommended.

    The reason I have awarded Sykes Cottages a lower mark was I had an email from them that they were REDUCING the Coach House prices, that has left me to conclude, were the owners aware of this, secondly did I originally pay a higher price ? and finally will I make any further bookings with Sykes !!!!

    Excellent centre for exploring Galloway. Very steep stairs with handrail on left side going up only. We suspect many guests may not be in the first flush of youth, so a handrail on the opposite side would be a boon and could prevent a fall.

    Fresh roses, chocs, cheese and crackers, with beer and bubbles upon arrival- what a lovely gesture, thank you! The birdies were a pleasant time stealer while having breakfast. Log fire and unlimited logs with kindle was wonderful and so well organised - again thank you. The cottage was so warm. Books, games and literature was beneficial and the TV was brilliant. The deep bath and mood lighting was very romantic and great for sole relaxation with the beautiful views of the the trees through the windows. The huge bed was amazing and so comfortable. We have slept really well. The stairs are grand and manageable. Down stairs toilet was very handy. Kitchen was well equipped - better than our own. This cottage was clean, modern, comfortable, spectacular and very private. Landlords at the end of the phone should one need assistance - thanks. Local walks are a must- the views are spectacularly picturesque, that will remain in our heart and minds forever. Can't wait to revisit. So often small cottages designed for 2 x people are rather minimal but not this one. Especially the wonderful ‘grown-up’ sofa unlike the normal stingy two seater! Bathroom was super with a large walk-in shower for hubby and a huge roll top bath for me. (Plenty of hot water too) The hosts were a perfect mix of friendly, helpful but not intrusive Nice area to explore and would recommend Logan Botanical garden, Castle Kennedy gardens and Kirkcudbright for art lovers

    It is well equipped and comfortable. The owners are next door to assist if required. The settee is very low down, which may be a problem for some. The WiFi is a bit unreliable. The bedroom has a small window behind the headboard which does not have a curtain so let's in light as soon as daylight breaks. There is no washing machine. There are a couple of supermarkets a short drive away.

NEWTON STEWART

Port William 17.2 miles; Kirkcudbright 28 miles; Castle Douglas 30.4 miles;

The market town of Newton Stewart, famous for its salmon and trout fishing, lies in a superb location between the serene rolling countryside of the Machars to the south and the Galloway Forest Park to the north. The area is steeped in history. The first Christian missionary to Scotland landed at The Machars, founding the first church in AD 397 in Whithorn.
