  • “An excellent cottage well placed for walking and cycling with lovely views to the big hills from the back garden and kitchen.”

The friendly village has local shops covering your needs and a self-service petrol station. While the bedroom is a bit narrow, it has plenty of wardrobe space; and the kitchen is very well appointed.

About the location

ST. JOHN'S TOWN OF DALRY

New Galloway 3 miles; Castle Douglas 16 miles.

Dalry, or St. John’s Town of Dalry, to give it its full title, is a village in Kirkcudbrightshire and is on the route of the ancient pilgrimage from Edinburgh to Whithorn and St Ninian’s Cave. The Knights Hospitaller of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem owned much of the land around the village and offered particular support to pilgrims undertaking the journey. The village today is attractive and has two pubs offering meals and a general store. The nearby towns of New Galloway and Castle Douglas provide more opportunities for shopping. Ideally located for walking, fishing and cycling, the surrounding Galloway Forest Park is home to some of the renowned 7stanes cycle venues and also boasts the UK’s first Dark Sky Park.
