“From the moment we pulled up, we were made to feel very welcome by the Owner, Roy, who left us a welcome bottle of wine!”

The cottage ticked all the boxes and exceeded our expectations. It was in a remote area, but within walking distance of the lovely coast of Welcombe Bay. The cottage ticked all the boxes and exceeded our expectations. It was in a remote area, but within walking distance of the lovely coast of Welcombe Bay. The cottage itself was a 'home from home' and the log burner was an added bonus. The cottage was clean and comfortable with everything we needed and our two doggies, Wilson (Vizsla) and Finn (Cockapoo) were over the moon to be allowed to run in the adjacent field, with stunning views across the valley and beyond. We also walked half a mile to the local pub 'The Old Smithy Inn' where we were made to feel welcome in the lovely setting of a thatched traditional pub. Overall, a lovely cottage, fantastic place to stay, highly recommended and just what the Doctor ordered!! Will definitely be visiting again, all being well.

The property

This detached bungalow converted from barns is situated on a country lane between Welcombe hamlet and the South West Coast Path.

Half a mile from each, this is brilliant accommodation for walking or enjoying a peaceful haven.

You will feel right at home in the cosy sitting room with its traditional wood burner to snuggle up beside and a dining table for leisurely meals prepared in the well equipped kitchen with its door to the patio.

Peaceful nights in this tranquil spot are on the cards in the two comfortable bedrooms.

The big patio has a table and chairs for alfresco meals and you are welcome to walk dogs or play football in the meadow beyond.

The ancient thatched village pub is a great place for eating out and it is an enjoyable walk along a quiet road to get there – though do remember a torch if you are heading home in the dark.

Walkers will be in seventh heaven with the Coast Path so close and it gives you splendid views from cliff tops and a range of birds to spot.

If surfing is your game, head down to the cove beach at Welcombe Mouth to catch some good waves, or it isn't far to Bude and the huge sandy beach.

Barn View is an excellent location for exploring a dramatic coastline or recharging your batteries.
