  • "We had the best stay we could have imagined, the chalet was unreal!"

It had everything we could have wished for and no expense was spared with the cleanliness and what the chalet offered! We literally had everything we needed in there. The log burner was really nice! The hot tub was very clean and maintained also! The site is really nice with a nice pub/restaurant on site, and it is extremely nice to walk around. We Honeslty couldn’t have asked for anything better for the price and we are already looking at re-booking! Thank you!

I was so happy to read your amazing feedback Enzo, I am absolutely delighted that you loved your lodge and our beautiful resort and made full use of the hot tub! I can't wait to be welcoming you back to see us again very soon! Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

Our cocker spaniel loved looking out at the ducks on the lake after a lovely walk. Sally, Martha and the team were always on hand to assist with any query. We also wanted to thank Amanda in the old mill for here very kind hospitality.

You can’t expect absolute immaculate cleanliness when you are allowing people to have pets but it was still lovely and clean for us and our dog. The dishwasher doesn't work properly, looks like the heating element has failed some time ago. This meant all the pots in the cabin were dirty and we had to spend the first few hours cleaning. Beds are uncomfortable, very hard, door handles havent been repaired since last time we stayed. Blinds have been broken in the bathroom meaning there's clear visibility from outside. There has been little to no maintenance, which is a shame as we love the cabin and the site. This is the 4th time we've stayed in No.2 lake side and it isn't usually like this, but maybe it's time for a change

Very clean and tidy. Lovely hot tub on the lake edge was perfect. The only thing Iv marked down was the cleanliness - some of the kitchen plates, sauce pans and cutlery were not clean and still had dried old food on them, Looked like the dishwasher didn’t get it completely clean and the last people in most likely put them away dirty - really wasn’t expect to have to wash things before we could use them but besides that - loved our weekend here and not a reflection on the lodge

I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay at 2 Water's Edge, Jade and made full use of the hot tub overlooking the beautiful lake. Thank you for leaving us your thoughts and passing on the feedback about the dishwasher. I am so sorry that you found unclean cutlery, crockery and saucepans in the cupboards. This is obviously not something which we would want you to experience and I have contacted our housekeeping team so that this does not reoccur. Our maintenance team has also been to the lodge to investigate the problem with the dishwasher, so thank you for highlighting it to us. Views on the decking were gorgeous. Lodge was lovely decorated. If I had to be really picky, I would of liked abit more outdoor lighting( just for night time and letting the dog out) but it has been perfect and we are already pricing up for a return next summer.

  • "Good points: 1/ Park setting excellent."

2/ Lodge setting excellent 2/ Excellent relaxing stay, barring the early wake up's due to light in the bedroom Things to Improve: 1/ The entire park is very badly lit up. Hardly any lights in the night time, if walking the dog. One or two solar lights might work on a certain evening / night. Can do with some fixed mains lightings on roads. 2/ The lodge itself is beautiful, but the choice of placing a the Velux in the bedroom not a good choice. Due to which you get the light in the bedroom so early in the morning. 3/ The windows are long & no way you can keep them open at night for some air on warm nights. 4/ Wooden blinds & netted curtains on the windows no good for summers when you are trying to sleep & so much light coming through the windows along with the velux from the roof. Can do with some thick curtains. 5/ The bathroom didnt need that long windows & the glass not being obscure, it doesn't feel very comfortable in the bathrooms while showering etc. Add to that some broken pieces from the blind, the condition can be bit more concerning. The points mentioned above could be specific to this lodge. Overall an excellent park & stay & would be even amazing with these few improvements to the park & the lodge!

  • "All in all, we have enjoyed our holiday."

Regarding the lodge, the kitchen and the bathrooms are great, the view absolutely lovely but the lounge furniture was uncomfortable, the terrace had very dated and broken wooden furniture with faded cushions which was such a shame. The double bed was comfortable (but it is a shame it's not a little bit bigger, we have a superking at home and it was very hard to get used to a small space). The twin bed mattresses very uncomfortable. There's Wifi in the lodge but we were not allowed to use the lodge's personal, secured one, we had to use the unsecured one from the site as we had absolutely no reception on our mobile phones (Vodafone) so could not use our data. That was really disappointing. ALso, it would have been lovely to find a booklet (or even a single sheet) of basic instructions (eg telly/washer/drier etc) and also recommendations for local attractions/restaurants. The site is lovely and well maintained. We didn't get to try the restaurant, we had 2 meals booked there and also a takeaway and they cancelled all three. Someone had tested positive and apparently they all had to self isolate and close the restaurant, even after the 16th Aug.

The dishwasher worked twice then it wouldn't, the mouldy shower head was disgusting, the double bed was uncomfortable. The sky light didn't have a blind so when it was 6 am the total light woke you up. The patio chair arm was missing a bolt, the was no broom to sweep up outside

  • "We have had a amazing holiday, great setting shame the restaurant closes 2 days per week but considering the price we paid the lodge itself is looking very tired, the outside with wire fencing we found totally unhelpful and less than useless with the dogs and couldn’t let them out, some other lodges had glass which would be much more dog friendly."

The furniture was old and one lounger was broke and held together with a cable tie which broke. Inside the beds are very comfortable but the sofas were so uncomfortable, the dish washer didn’t clean the dishes, lots of pairing hooks on the walls but no painting and we packed DVDs to fine no player but a excellent TV with Netflix access, so that needs updating on your description. All in all we did have a wonderful stay but expected more given the price

  • "Base of shower door was grubby."

Paintwork very grubby/old. Considering price paid for 3 nights I felt poor in relation to a tatty small box with teabag/ coffee, mixed in with dishwasher tablets, very strange! Shower gel available in main bathroom but not in en-suite..why? No washing up liquid, hand soap or basics to tide one over. Simple things too like a clock in lounge that doesn’t work, log burner with wood but no fire lighters. I own a holiday let in Bournemouth and have a basket with tea/coffee/chocolate/biscuits/bottled water etc for guests arrival (esp handy if arriving late at night). Supply 5 dishwasher tablets and washing machine tablets. I felt you are basing your price purely on location and hot tub, but the general standard of the mobile home I would say is not up to scratch by any means. I was writing to you this afternoon to inform you of all this but I have your form now! This is before holiday season gets going so not a good start. Kitchen drawer handle not fixed properly. Another point, you advertise the restaurant on site as being open for outside dining and takeaway. Having a stressful job I was looking forward to not driving for a few days. On arrival I was told the restaurant was closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, we arrived Monday pm and were leaving Thursday So no good at all! This meant we had to go out in the car each day for meals we didn’t intend to have this costing us a lot more money which was mis representation of the facilities at the property. This needs to be re checked and brought upto a really good standard if you want people to visit in the future.

It looks like they are left outside in all weathers so are not in great condition Although lodge was very clean, some of the kitchen items needed a re-wash before use. Often an issue with self catering properties, where everything tucked away in cupboards cannot be checked thouroughly on every changeover. Appreciate that not every visitor will be cooking meals so some pans etc are not used regularly.

  • "There is absolutely no phone signal or WiFi in this lodge."

Lovely bright accommodation with a few things that let it down. The outside furniture was unusable dirty and covered in mould, in fact the whole decking area was in poor repair. Decking was sodden due to not being sealed. Constant dripping from gutters after rain due to leaks kept you awake at night. Beds were uncomfortable too soft, but that is personal preference rather than a complaint. We did visit the restaurant and would not recommend. I had lamb off the specials board, can’t remember how it was described on the board but it definitely did not describe it as tiny tough pieces of lamb and bone in a watery salty sauce served with greens, think it was cabbage, in a white sauce with mash. My partners meal was slightly better but not great. There was a note in the lodge asking you to let them have a chance to put any problems right. Considering someone in August complained about patio furniture and it’s still the same, they obviously take no notice. Would I stay again ? For the money the answer would have to be no.

  • "I think it is important to point out that there is actually no available internet connection and very poor/no signal on mobile devices unless you are stood in or at The Old Mill reception."

The lodge was relatively clean but could have done with a spruce up. If you love budget IKEA, then you will love all the fixtures and fittings. The cushions on outside chairs had been left out and were actually green and mouldy. The decking and balustrade in a poor state of repair. Most functions worked on the hot tub although one didn’t and if you adjusted several of the jets you would find they came off in your hand. Although this did give you something to do while relaxing trying to get them to stay back in. We did venture to the Reception. Was met by a very blunt and quite frankly rude lady, who seemed to work all week. If I pay for a bottle of beer, once she could be bothered to tell me what they sell I don’t expect for what was left in the bottle to be thrown because it didn’t fit in the glass! On another occasion ordering an Americano coffee I was greeted by what’s that.......and why do people call drinks what they like....just ask for what it is. They have a proper coffee machine, I would expect them to know, as this is a very standard name for a black coffee. My partner an I never felt welcome at all, but she may like you as seemed to depend on who you were. The locations and layout are really nice of the lodges, not overlooked and very private.

It is a nice quiet location and the view over the lake was lovely. The little welcome package was useful and the kitchen had everything you needed. Hot tub was a really lovely treat and the parking was perfect for two cars. The only downsides were for us, the cottage was way too hot even though the central heating was turned right down and although I appreciate we were bringing dogs and wouldn’t expect it to be spotless, there was a lot of dog hair on the floors and sofas. The only other thing is that we had a crawling baby with us and the deck that overlooks the river is only fenced off with wire rather than a hard barrier. It wasn’t a problem but just something to be aware of!

Clean and well equipped. Lots of nice touches (nice set of mini toiletries in each bathroom, dressing gowns, welcome package). All mod cons and luxury feel added to with the lovely hot tub. Which we made good use of. Outdoor furniture could do with an update or fresh cushions that aren't left outside. Great for peaceful retreat. Comfortable and spacious. We did't eat at the restaurant but food looked lovely and staff very friendly. Nice to chill for a bit in the evening, play pool and grab some wifi time. In the day people tend to hover outside or go into the restaurant/bar to pick up the signal when needed. There's no wifi in the lodge which the details do say. What the details didn't make clear is there is zero phone signal in the lodge. Can feel a bit isolating. Don't trust sat nav! It is well signposted from the main road (B3359) heading towards Pelynt (we just used the spar shop in Pelynt as our satnav point to get on the right road while we got our bearings and it's less than a 5 min drive from there). Look for the wind turbine and you'll see the signs with the turning for Stonerush Lakes. Would definitely recommend and return. Thank you

About the location

LANREATH

Pelynt 2 miles; Looe 5 miles; Polperro 6 miles.

Lanreath is a village in southeast Cornwall, five miles west of Looe. Lanreath is rural in character with a local shop and Post Office as well as a parish church. There are a number of ghost stories associated with Lanreath. The best-known features a ghost in black driving a coach pulled by a headless horse. Nearby Pelynt is home to a parish church, a number of local shops and pubs, especially the Jubilee Inn, which was an original farmhouse dating back to the 16th Century. Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. Polperro is a little further away and is a historic fishing village nestling at the head of a long valley leading down to the sea. With plenty of areas to visit, Lanreath is a quiet, pleasant place offering easy access to the coast, the moors, National Trust properties and Cornwall's famous gardens.
