  • "Absolutely fantastic cottage, compact but fully equipped for our stay, owners have taken the time to make sure it was “home from home”, many basic things supplied which was really useful along with a detailed welcome pack to make sure our stay as comfortable as possible."

Garden was amazing and perfect for Luna!! As noted previously the local birds were very greedy!! Cottage was great value for money too!! Parking was ok too as we have a large family car but fitted ok in parking space provided but did have the option to park down the lane but we didn’t need to!!

Thank you for taking the time to give this lovely feedback. We are pleased you liked the cottage and enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "The approach is on a small lane mostly ok but the hill up to the Ark needs improvement (I managed it fine)."

The parking area was ok for my car (2019 Honda Jazz) but a longer car would stick out into the lane which is needed for access to another cottage. It is a lovely quiet setting, loved all the birds that used the bird feeder, I will definitely come again

Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay. I am pleased to confirm that other guests, some with estate cars, have successfully used the parking area without obstruction. There is alternative parking in the lane if preferred. We look forward to welcoming you again. Property Owner

Was plenty warm enough with the storage heaters and was December after all ! Used log burner couple times in evening to, just lovely. Our elderly whippet (nearly 14 ) was really comfy and chilled at the cottage, was nice to open door and let him just wander in garden knowing it was all sure we would book again, Many thanks for a wonderful stay.

The property was as described with a secure garden for our dog (a lively setter). Next door's cat did taunt the dog but all was safe. There was an impressive collection of wid birds eating from the feeder. A great few days away. To be done again.

  • "What a disappointment."

On entering the property we were knocked out with a strong musty/damp smell, that only reduced after a few days stay. The sofa smelt of urine and the place was not adequately cleaned, I changed the hoover bag which was solid with waste and had clearly not been picking up for some time. There are large cracks on the sink edge, which the owner admitted had been there for at least 7 years!! The place is very very small, very very dark and not easy to live with. I have done price comparisons with other properties and the price is up there with far superior houses, ie the one I am renting for the second week. I have suggested to Sykes that this property, as it is now, does not meet the standards I have come to expect from them. Its a shame, it could be a charming country retreat but badly needs some investment and tlc.

I am sorry this guest was not satisfied with the cottage. The excellent feedback we have had this year from other guests, including 100 percent rating on cleanliness throughout the season, speaks for itself. Our housekeeper uses her own vacuum cleaner and the one on the premises is for those visitors who may wish to use it. We have guests who return regularly and always enjoy their stay. Almost all guests leave lovely comments in our visitor book, which show how much the cottage is appreciated. Sykes are happy to keep this lovely little cottage on their books. Property Owner

10 minutes walk from the Eden Project and very handy for Par's lovely beach, Fowey, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Charlestown, Mevagissey etc. We especially enjoyed walking the South West Coast Path from Par beach to Fowey, and watching the birds in the garden (identification helped by the photos provided!). The shower's a small cubicle and the furniture isn't the newest, but it's spotlessly clean, comfy bed, plenty of hot water (immersion boiler), perfect for a couple. We'd happily stay again.

  • "The garden was lovely but the cottage was quite shabby and poorly finished."

The only wardrobe space was behind a mirror in the space at the top of the stairs and it held childrens sized plastic coat hangers which were not suitable for holding adult clothes. The bathroom in particular was poorly finished, with badly painted polystyrene tiles on the ceiling and the wallpaper was beginning to peel. The skirting board behind the bed and under the window in the bedroom were dirty and had not been cleaned for quite some time. The owners son arrived to cut the grass after we arrived which I found quite intrusive.

Thank you for your feedback comments. Most Customers have found the built in wardrobe a solution as the room isn't large enough for a free standing wardrobe. The coat hangers are adult sized. We are repainting the bathrooms ceiling and repairing the skirting board when we next visit the cottage. We were unable to cut the grass earlier due to the weather. Property Owner

Spoke to the owners the day before and we were provided with useful additional information about the location of the key etc. Really lovely cottage only a 15 minute walk from the Eden project. Cottage located in a quiet private lane and had everything we required for a really pleasant 1 week stay. Cottage complete with a lovely garden with a with bird feeder (welcome pack included a guide to the different types of birds we could expect to see feeding). Although we didn't have a dog with us, the feedback in the cottage diary made it clear it was an ideal cottage if traveling with canine companions. There was also plenty of suggestions about recommended pubs/eateries (including those dogs were welcome). No negatives. Just a couple of small comment would be that the parking space next to the cottage was a little 'tight' for our Ford Kuga (we struggled a bit to get it out of the space) after we initially parked on arrival. No problems though as plenty of parking just down the private lane. We were initially a little unsure where to put our recycling (including what kind of recycling was accepted). We did find the recycling container down at the front of the private road (but maybe a little more info in the welcome pack would be helpful). If we travel to the same area again we would definitely return.

  • "With regard to the property."

The pictures met expectations and the property was up to standard in as much as the facilities were concerned. The layout of the cottage was odd and while adequate could benefit from some updating and additional comfortable seating in the lounge area. The primary reason for the low rating is the bathroom. It is very dated and the shower in particular is dirty. The console is rusty and the sealing needs replacing. The tiles are also in need of re-grouiting. Finally because there is a window between the bathroom and the bedroom. If someone uses the toilet in the middle of the night the light will wake you up.

About the location

Eden Project 1 mile; Charlestown 3 miles; St Austell 3 miles.

St Blazey is a small town situated three miles east of St Austell and was formerly an important engineering centre for the local mining and railway industries. The town is nowadays best known for being the closest to the Eden Project. Nearby Charlestown is a delightful and much sought after coastal village of stone cottages and regency houses. It is famous for its collection of tall ships riding at anchor in the harbour, the shipwreck museum, excellent pubs and restaurants and easy access to the coastal path. The old market town of St. Austell lies just a few miles from the south coast, and is famous for its China Clay mining history. Today, home to numerous beaches, (including dog-friendly Par Sands) and sub tropical gardens, it is a popular place for tourists, with plenty to see and do. A short drive will take you to fashionable Fowey or the fishing port of Mevagissey, and with lots to do, this is a great year round location.
